Can’t imagine it ended well for them when the Death Star exploded.

True, yet the Empire saw a lot of plans go up in smoke when that happened.

Actually, according to the novelization, it wasn't about love...Vader still saw Luke as a tool, a means to an end.

Isn’t that the same book that says Owen was Obi Wans brother? I think only certain general aspects of the novelizations are canon especially since most of them are written while the films are being made and much changes. Last Jedi is the only novelization published months after the movies release.

"Canon until Lucas chooses to actively contradict it" was the old principle when it came to novelizations.

Begun, the canon wars have not. I think there is a thread somewhere on the JCF that talks about the current status of what is/is not canon.

Here is a good discussion (Non-JCF thread) that talks about Canon, for anyone not familiar with it.

The original ROTJ novelization by James Kahn? I don't think in that book it says anywhere that Owen is Obi-Wan's brother. I haven't read it in many years, but I think I would have remembered such a statement. It must have been another book.

The Kahn novelization of ROTJ does indeed have Obi-Wan say that Owen was his brother. I think later reprints may have edited that bit out, but it's definitely there in older copies.

I have an old copy. You are right, he does say Owen is his brother. What was Lucas thinking? Yet another family relation!! I'm glad that part didn't make it into the movie.

"My brother" as in close friend, maybe?

Obi Wan did refer to Anakin as his brother in Revenge of the Sith on Mustafar even tho they weren't related.

And, who hasn't referred to their friend as a "crazy old wizard" when he's rooting for the other team?

Obi-Wan sure has a lot of "points of view", doesn't he?

Sure they were close friends. That's why Owen has a disdainful expression on his face when he mentions that "crazy old hermit". I'm sure Ben and Owen often got together and had a beer, laughing and talking about old times. :D
A real brother would actually make more sense, because brothers tend to become estranged more than close friends.;)
But I think to Owen Ben is just a stranger who showed up one day to bring them Shmi's grandson, only to disappear into the desert after that. He may have heard rumors about that hermit, but I don't think they had much actual contact.

I'm not sure this deserves its own thread...Where does Orimaako and his two Prune Faces go after the shuttle lands on Endor?

Depends on who they were allied to.

    • Rebels = Rebel Base

    • Empire = Their Star Destroyer

EDIT: I’m assuming now you mean they’re on Endor? Well again, depending on who they’re allied to.

    • Rebels = probably scouting for Imperials

    • Empire = tracking down the Rebels

That reminds me: I'm pretty sure the Prune Face makeup was a reuse of an early makeup test for Palpatine's look in ROTJ.

Simple question when was the last time the unaltered Star Wars films were released?

In extremely-low-detail poor-quality transfers taken from the laserdisc releases. But with the theatrical SW 1977 crawl tacked on to satisfy Lucasfilm's marketing claims of "the original theatrical versions".

I legitimately thought it hadn’t been released since the 1997 special editions
