I didn't say the character was iconic, though I do think she's increasingly finding her place in the Batman mythos. I hope that ultimately, they take a lesson from I, Robot and just go with a healthy male-female friendship, though. In any case, what I said was that Katie Holmes offered the iconic portrayal of that character. I was mostly trying to compare her favorably to the new Pope.

You know, if they'd just cut Kid Catwoman and Kid Selina Kyle, this'd be something I really want to see. As it stands it's going to be goofy, but the jury is out on whether we can add "and also sucks" to that.

 

I'm a bit more confident after that trailer since it implies that they will be looking at these people as characters and not capes.

 

Sure, but similarly, we could just get a Nightwing, Batman, or Dick-as-Batman tv show?

 

Oh, I'd be up for any of those. And I'd throw in a Tim Drake Robin series also. But it seems that they aren't willing to have the same superhero appear in different mediums at the same time, so I'll take a well produced series about early Gordon. If played right, there's a lot of story that can be mined for it, and McKenzie and Logue are great casting choices. It's just a case of seeing if they can follow Arrow, or if Fox will work it's usual magic on genre shows.

 

It's not that having two shows (or more) featuring DC urban vigilantes running at the same time is too much of a good thing...but perhaps it just might be as far are certain people are concerned (and of course, they're idiots). Which might be a reason why Warner is taking this approach with GOTHAM. But frankly, I'd rather have a full fledged Batman show instead, with a decent budget, production values and star power thrown at it. I wish I could say that teaser fills me with confidence, but at the moment I can't.

 

I'll wait until it get renewed before I consider watching it. I learned my lesson with Terra Nova.

 

It seems to be more that the studio wants to concentrate more on Batman as a theatrical franchise than a live action series and this seems to be the compromise. In fact, this is not too different from the "Bruce Wayne" television series that gave way to "Smallville" due to an effort to get "Year One"/"Batman Begins" going. Now that an origin film has been done, the television division can have its turn.

Well it's going to be on FOX, so it won't last more than a half season at most.

 

Maybe it'll be like the Wonder Woman show that came out a few years back and not debut at all because it's so awful?
