I think that, utlimately, whatever is affordable to you and meets your gaming needs is all that matters. Yes, a PC can boast considerably superior advantage in terms of hardware capabilities and control (for some genres, mind you). But it's definitely a platform for the hardcore, tinkerer gamer that has plenty of cash to burn.

Right, but pretending that it's barely different between console and PC is silly. The console gamer is as you note, less hardcore but they're also a lot less sophisticated. The travesty that is Fallout 4's lack of consequence can be seen as a direct response to the popularity of the franchise on console. Given how unrelenting the PC-only earlier titles were, well, yeah.

The console is the blue collar option, in other words. Less sophisticated, ubiquitous, and disproportionately loud.

Like Darth_Invidious suggested, it's cash to burn if you want to spend it on a PC with arguably better graphics than what you'd get on a console.

Not to mention that the console is a lot more prone to internal hardware faults. Console vents on the casing not suited to properly expelling the heat generated from the internal hardware, but the fans inside circulate the heat rather than draw it away from the CPU and mainboard.

Oh, you don't think PCs are subject to hardware and especially software fails?

Of course they are. Debonaire's point is sadly valid because, indeed, consoles are built with little to no ventilation and heat dissipation capabilities. That's one of the issues that plagued the first few batches of last gen consoles. I lost count of how many 360s I lost to the damned Red Ring of Death.

I can't speak for Microsoft's consoles. I've been a Sony man since the original PS of the late 90s. The only issues I've ever had with my consoles were when PSN was down for an extended period of time.

Indeed they are but the various options that are available when it comes to software protection, PC casings and cooling technology give the PC greater longevity (when built and configured correctly) over the Fordian mass production style of the console market. Hence, customisation being PC's greatest edge over consoles because the former can be tailored for a dedicated purpose while the console's obsolescence is almost planned because of the budget of the lay that needs to be considered when selling the product.

As I said earlier, when it comes to gaming technology you indeed get what you pay for. As an experienced console owner myself, I can tell you that the various hardware faults experienced are perfectly fitting, and frustrating, for the price you pay since cooling technology is expensive.

Sorry, I don't see much of a difference between the PC and PS4.

I must be fortunate because I've never had that problem with any of my consoles.

I won't bother with playing modern games on PC until I can invest in a decent computer for gaming. The computer I have no is good for school, but not much for games.

I only had one issue with a console. It was my first generation PS3 which ran brilliantly for five years. But after that it continually switched itself off, got noisier, and simply couldn't be saved. I got a tech to look into it and apparently some of the circuitry was beginning to melt because of the poor insulation of the console. Admittedly, that's the only console i've had trouble with but apparently that was a very common issue with PS3. I've never had a cooling issue with any PC, heavy gaming laptops included.

    OK, so.

This is a guy in my PC crew. Really good racer.

Set your YouTube to 1080p quality HD and watch this:

    He's running I believe a GTX 970 or 980 at 120fps.

Your console may one day be this good. By which I mean 2023.

Keep bragging about your PC. Not gonna make me feel any worse saving about $700 by buying a PS4 instead.

You said, quite clearly, there was no notable difference. Allowing for YouTube compression you will never achieve that kind of fluidity because you are capped at 30fps.

I appreciate accepting your point was without merit and that broadly speaking you're wrong might be annoying, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.

Somehow all those thousands (maybe millions) of poor unfortunate souls who own a copy of GTA V for the PS4 will have to live with playing the game at 30fps at 1080p. We all have to make certain sacrifices in life, you know.

Let's put it this way; you don't just do sports car races with the Bravado Banshee, do you? You would race, what - Felzter? Massacro? Yeah. That.

Speaking of, I got a 0:49.1s lap around Cutting Coroners in an Osiris yesterday. Pretty happy with that.

If anyone's still playing this game besides me, have you gotten the chance to try out the new casino?

Nah. As soon as I noticed that no single player expansions were coming and that GTA:eek: was nothing more than a huge cash shop, I ditched it like a bad habit ages ago. And now the prospect of an online casino being hosted by this game owned by this scuzzy tax dodging monster just makes me sick.

I started my third GTAV playthrough. Still ignoring GTAO.

I played through the story mode once. Every so often I go on GTAO. To the nearest ROUND NUMBER, try to guess how much real dollars I've invested in it.

You see, that's the thing I don't get. People complain about GTAO being a "cash shop" for Rockstar and vow never to get into it; and yet I'll bet in here plenty of those same people are willing to pay the monthly subscription for KOTOR or any other MMORPG. GTAO is similar to an MMORPG; instead of leveling up, you earn money that you can use towards clothing, vehicles, weapons, etc. I've probably spent well over $3 million in-game cash over the course of the time I've played GTAO, and haven't spent a single penny in real-world dollars outside of the $20 I paid for the game itself. I get that people complain about those "Shark Cards" being a venue to pay for all the goodies and stuff in the game without actually earning it. But I equate that with people who complain about spam calls pretending to be the IRS asking for store gift cards. Not everyone is suckered into doing it.
