    Hello all, I've been in SWC random question bit learning about Legends and Newcanon and where double bladed lightsabers fit in. It's something that has bothered/confused me for a while.

    There is mention of 'extended blades' in legends, but I can't recall the double ended mention at all. @Sinrebirth ? Care to clarify this one Mr Walking Legends Encyclopedia?

    Originally in Legends the double bladed lightsabers were invented by Exar Kun, circa 3996 BBY (before the Battle of Yavin), but in Canon they’ve not dated their creation.

    Exar Kun has been mentioned in Canon sources so it may be he invented them in Canon too.

    Well, the earliest we currently know of it Darth Maul, but without Maul's backstory in Plagueis, we don't know how or why. Correct?

    Ummmmmmmmm.

    The crossguard blades turned up in the distant past, but not double-bladed lightsabers, I believe, not yet in Canon.
