    It is time to take up arms against the merciless Empire! The blasters are in the store, the soft goods are easily available, and starting in July, Rebel Fleet Trooper helmets will be avaialble locally. For those of you who want to join the fight, it has never been easier to become a Rebel Fleet Trooper and take on the bad boys in white at local conventions, troops and events.

    A local prop master is in the final sages of getting the molds perfected, and I wanted to get the word out before the next meeting, and can discuss it with you on Saturday (assuming I can make it.).

    As of now, the rough price will be in the $100 range for the kit. Price is not definite, this is just a ball park estimate. I also recommended that he make the visor in smoked lexan/see through plastic, so we can do the drop down face shield seen on the Rebel Honor Guard.

    So what does this beautiful bucket look like?

    Here are the unfinished pictures:

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b193/mansugi/Rebel%20Fleet%20Trooper/Picture007.jpg]

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b193/mansugi/Rebel%20Fleet%20Trooper/Picture006.jpg]

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b193/mansugi/Rebel%20Fleet%20Trooper/Picture005.jpg]

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b193/mansugi/Rebel%20Fleet%20Trooper/Picture004.jpg]

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b193/mansugi/Rebel%20Fleet%20Trooper/Picture003.jpg]

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b193/mansugi/Rebel%20Fleet%20Trooper/Picture002.jpg]

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b193/mansugi/Rebel%20Fleet%20Trooper/Picture009.jpg]

    And here is a screencap from ANH to show how accurate these are already, and he's not even done with them yet:

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b193/mansugi/Rebel%20Fleet%20Trooper/Picture35.jpg]

    Note, in the future, the red dot will not be on the comm box, and I think they might get a little cleaner detail as well on them.

    Here is an example of the drop down visor that we should hopefully be able to do:

    [image=http://www.hasbro.com/common/images/products/8720638b73d2_a400.jpg]

    The buckets will be made out of .093 white glossy ABS. No painting needed if you want to go white (my preference.) Some other bases go with a light grey, but thre is a HUGE debate over the color scheme in the Rebel Legion, and as it stands now, either white or grey is acceptable, and IMHO, white glossy ABS would rock.

    Beyond the buckets, here are the rest of the requied items for the costume:

    Blaster: Get the Hasbro Nerf RFT blaster that is available on the shelf today.
    here is how they compare to the MR Blaster:

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b193/mansugi/Rebel%20Fleet%20Trooper/rftblaster_mr_vs_hasbro_01.jpg]

    Holster: I have two contacts through the RL that you can get holsters from. Price is between $20-40.

    Shirts: Best choice is navy issue chambray shirts. I have access to the Navy uniform sales and can get you brand new ones, or used ones are available at surplus stores or online. And I think Archaic Rebel or nerfherders can chime in on where they got theirs.

    Vest: A simple black BDU jacket, available anywhere, with the sleeves and collar removed. So easy my wife can do this (as long as you don't remove the sleeves and collar too close to the seam.) ;)

    Pants: You will want to go here: http://www.vtarmynavy.com and get their SWAT Grey BDU pants.

    Belt: Tandy Leather is your friend here. They have an aluminum belt buckle blank and belt you can get. cyodarun was able to help me make mine look great and match up the dye colors and finish the belt. Looks awesome!

    Boots: There used to be some great "nazi goosestepper" boots available from the Sportsmans Guide. Alas, these are no longer available, but tall black riding boots can still be found, or I believe that Zoo has knowledge about making spats if needed, and these could fit over a standard pair of combat boots if needed.

    That's pretty much it

    Yeah more eggshell-heads!

    Also, we were talking about doing some Rebel Flight Technicians, whose helmet is simply the base shell minus the visors, comm box and back scoop. All we would need are gray jumpsuits and the directional flare-lights. Since my RFT helmet is bolted together I can modify it easily for this costume.

    I would love a whoel crew of Rebel Flight Deck Technicians... We can do all kinds of cool pix with the X-Wing [face_mischief] [face_devil]

    So, let's find out how much the low rent bucket would run us too. :)

    Naaaah --get the full bucket and just remove the parts when you want to be flight deck crew. ;) And troop as a RFT the rest of the time. ;) :D

    Now if you want to really have fun with the flight deck crew, go BSG on it and add the reflective tape. That would be cool. :) Not canon, but cool. :)

    I can check with him if someone really only wants only the bucket with the scoop.

    Yeah, that would definitely be low rent. ;) :)

    Maybe even the cheapest RL ready costume ever, if you did spats for the boots.

    Say $50 (tops) for the bucket (I'm guessing here), $30 for the coveralls, $10 in patches (tops), $25 for cheapo jungle boots, and $ 10-15 for spats, right?

    No blaster, maybe a belt. Wow, that would be very simple. LOL, you could even make up a few to 'stay with the bird' if nothing else, so that it could always have a flight deck crew with it. It wouldn't take too much effort to make up a fuel hose, and some wands, and *presto*, instant flight deck crew. :D

    Oh... It gets better...

    Helmet = $50 (max)
    Modified Flightsuit = $30-40
    Work/Combat Boots of your choosing = $30-40 (most of us have them already)
    Army Surplus Webbelt = $5-10
    Cheap flashlights w/ thin plastic wrapped around the tops = $10

    THAT'S IT!!!!!

    No patches, no greeblies, no nothin'!

    And you don't even need the flashlights, either! [face_laugh]

    hmm.. I am open to persuasion...

    so if I dress up as a rebel, will my imperial tattoo spontaneously combust?

    heh, you know you want to make this costume. Oh yes, you know you want to. ;) [face_devil]

    And several of us have both Rebel and Imperial costumes. So I wouldn't let a little thing like a tattoo get in the way. ;) :D

    If anyone needs a black BDU jacket (for the vest), size large, please let me know. Jawaman at the MG ordered a size too large and wanted to offer it to someone else before returning it. Size is large, cost $27.

    If you're interested in taking it off his hands, please LMK. Thanks!

    I spoke to MC today about this project. He is now about 4-6 weeks away from being able to produce these.

    Here is the good news: The cost of the kit is roughly $80-$100. He is working on finalizing the molds (after he gets done with backorders), and will have a firm price before we place orders. They will be .93 shiny ABS, and hopefully will have the drop down visor. Obviously, the flight deck crew bucket will be cheaper, and the Imperial Gunner will be more expensive.

    So please chime in if you are interested.

    Here is the interest list so far:

    Obey Wann ? 1 RFT
    ArchaicRebel ? 1 RFT
    Jedi_Knight_Birr - 1 RFT

    Thanks, Kevin --I think that's what AR and Nerfherders have. Personally, I'd rather have an ABS kit and not have to deal with the hassle of painting. I had to do that with my styrene SC kit and won't do it again if I can help it. And the flip-down visor will be a huge plus, too. :)
