Visited the Eastern Orthodox Monastery on Vashon Island yesterday. Only four monks living there but got a chance to talk a little to a couple of them and bought a copy of the selections from the Philokalia and some of their coffee.

@Adalia-Durron The second pillar, knowledge, emphasizes the scholarly role as a Jedi, as it may go without saying. A Jedi studies the Force to gain a better understanding of it, but does not use it to achieve a personal advantage over others. Therefore, this pillar can be more dangerous than given credit for, with the example of Anakin Skywalker seeking the power over death via the restricted archives. Ideally, a Jedi would study such records in order to understand what the Force is capable of and its will, and would be able to use it to teach others about it. However, they would know better than to become a manipulator of life and death. Such a piece of knowledge would be a very rigorous test of a Jedi’s true character. Are they seeking knowledge for selfish gain or for the purpose of obtaining wisdom to pass on. The deepest, darkest archives about the Force and the Jedi can be just as effective in teaching what not to do as it is in teaching young Jedi how to use the Force properly.
