Merry Christmas, everyone!

 

Hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday, yes, yesterday for me.

 

One of my basset hounds took out the Christmas Tree and several ornaments. My wife is not happy at the moment. I suppose this is symbolic for the last two years.

 

Poor pup, I’m sure he didn’t mean to do it.

 

Then give him a treat for paying attention.

 

That’s what my boys always say. It’s always “I don’t know what happened” or “I didn’t mean to.”

 

Both of my dogs are female however.

 

Both of mine are boys.

 

Bonnie is a girl, Bella was too. I like girl dogs, they don't lift their legs. Husband left yesterday for a fishing trip, he rang about 10 minutes ago and answered the phone in a way that had me speechless.

I did not know what to say, he's never called me that! 33 years and he's never called me that!! So when I found the words I asked why he called me something he'd never done before, he said 'still emotional over Bella and my health scare, appreciating the people in my life, that's all.' Right.....

Health scare. Thursday before Christmas (16th Dec) he went to the doctor as he had 'discomfort' in his upper right stomach area. She sent him for an ultrasound and blood test. Next morning she rang him and asked him to come in that afternoon and to bring me with him. We went in and were told there was a mass the size of a softball in his liver with several smaller ones there as well. The ultrasound report used the word 'metastasized' and we were given 'that look'. Spent the weekend thinking he was terminal, planning for after he was gone, checking his life insurance and a bit of crying as well, it was hellish. Went to the Oncologist on Monday (20th Dec) and she sent him for a CT Scan, and then we had to wait till Wednesday.

On Wednesday she gave us hope, told us there was a strong chance it was a hemangioma, but an MRI was needed. Hemangioma is a cluster of blood vessels. So Friday, Christmas eve, we were back at the Oncologist.

98% Sure it is a Hemangioma!!! Biggest she'd ever seen in her career, and not in her area of specialty, referred us onward. Told us she hopes to never see us again.

He will need major liver surgery and may well lose half his liver, but he will live. The liver regenerates, in time, but on Christmas Eve I got a great present, he got the best present, he is going to live. I was not going to be a widow and my husband of 31 years was not going to die.

This was my holiday season............

 

Sorry @Adalia-Durron Glad it appears it may not be what you were originally told it was. Keeping you guys in my thoughts.

 

Its not Cancer and that's all that matters @Bazinga'd - he will need treatment but he is that one in million and in his mind 'won the lotto'. So its good.
