I’m in the military so employee appreciation is the smile I see on all civilian faces as they enjoy the freedom that I provide.

 

I think you've got it the wrong way round. You are their employee.

A boss from many years ago got me the original Fireball Island game. That was a cool gift.

 

Mine gave me some cool jackets with patches that I still wear.

 

My employer loves to give us swag. Want a polo, or a lunchbox, or a coffee tumbler, or a gym bag or a sweater with our company logo, I have that. Most recently though my boss bought a Nespresso machine for our break room. A Nespresso machine. So, the managers can make themselves better coffee. Because I can't afford Nespresso pods.

 

Most of these were given to me by my employers.

 

Now before I can answer, may I have some clarification; if we exchange gifts at Christmas (Secert Santa) does that count or if we work for a big organization and they have "giveaways" are you counting that?

Because to me that seems more like personal enjoyment in the job rather than a "gift" from you employer...

 

My employer and I have been friends for two decades (before he was my employer, actually); you'll forgive me for not listing the "what" and the "when", I've forgotten most of it. We're currently engaging in an exchange of cask strength whiskys.

 

Just a joke. Lol. Military isn’t big on gift giving, but it’s not the worst life so I’m grateful.

Annnddd…. I feel like secret Santa isn’t a gift from your employer. But let’s definitely count giveaways. Hell, share the Santa gifts if you really enjoyed it!

The past Christmas I received a Panera gift card,

In Christmas of '21 they gave us a choice of things; I chose a charging brick, it worked one time and never again...

Having worked for the state government of Florida, I can say I received the greatest gift of all - being able to wear jeans on Fridays, months after taking away being able to wear jeans all the time, because our job didn't involve interacting with the public directly.

So… they said no jeans because you weren’t interacting with the public? … WHAT?

When I worked for an air freight firm in the US we got free turkeys every Thanksgiving. We had one executive that regularly traveled between the US main office and the UK one (he lived in the UK). He was there one year when the turkeys were given out so he put his into a xerox paper box, sealed it up, and took it home on the plane.

 

Typically I'd get Amazon gift cards of varying amounts. Sometimes a fancy water bottle. I actually have way too many water bottles now.

 

I can wear them on Thursday but we have to pay a dollar. Nothing like the State of Florida job. Pays once a month and has more restrictions for making extra money. Yep. I did get an amazon gift card from the boss though
