Blazer, he looks great! The only thing is the whole cross eyed thing. Are u doing that because that's the way he was in ESB & ROTJ? Or is it just a coincidence?

It's partly by design. I could make his eyes look straight if I wanted to, but the fact that the puppet couldn't "focus" its eyes made him always have that slightly crosseyed look. I'm not sure what I'm going to use in animation. He may just have normal eyes. I'm glad you like him so far. Any other comments or criticisms are welcome.

Well, I will try to make it as easy as possible. I can export the UV cordinants, and export the mesh as 3ds. I am willing to work with you to try to get it into 3ds Max, because I know that there are a lot of people who would be able to use it. I will keep you updated as to my progress. Look for much more coming in a few weeks.

You should say skillful, somewhat less Jedi Master than Yoda.

Ok, after some breaks and updates and such, here are a couple animations, and I'm liking my progress. I've been using some of the new features coming to the Blender CVS as a result of Project Orange. Anyway, I'll be able to spend some extra time on him in the next few months, so we'll see if I can't bang out a full, high quality animation soon with an actual scene.

Please give me your comments and whatever. I truely appreciate them. What do you think of my Yoda voice?

In this fist one, I'm not sure why he has catyracts (sp?) at the end. I couldn't find a reason why. But it's fixed in the second one. The body, and hands textures are temporary.

Woah that was just awesome! And Yoda still has his trademark "crossed eye" on the 1st vid clip! Love it!Great lip sync!

Is there a tutorial on lip sync with 3d max?
    Keep it up!

Thanks guys. Those two animations were done about a month apart and I like the second one better too for a lot of reasons. What do you guys think of my voice over?

    On a sidenote:
Blender has started a project called "Project Orange" and set up Orange Studio in Amsterdam. It is a project to make a full length (more or less) movie animated almost entirely with Blender, and they are working to use as much open source software as possible. This project has joined some of the top coders of Blender (esp. Ton, creator of Blender) and as they are making the movie, anything that they need, they code it. It has advanced Blender unimaginably in the last couple months. The official update isn't out yet, but you can check out CVS or "testing" builds at the Blender development forum. Anyone who has been into Blender in the past should check it out.

Only thing, it looks a little weird when his forhead moves like that.

    Nicely done..

But yeah, hes face moves oddly. Remember that he has muscles, not just moving mass.

Thanks. I see that now too, and I will try to blend the shapes together a little more to see if I can get a little better effect.

Well, I've been studying Blenders cloth system (softbodies) and this is a cloth simulation test that I cranked out today. I'm tring to get the cloth more realistic in general. I'm going to start modeling more folds etc. in the clothing before too long, but I wanted to try the whole cloth concept on a simple garment first. So here it is. No where near perfect (his arm shows through a little) but what do you think of the general motion of the fabric? Also, I made a new shader for his skin, and textured his hands (though it's pretty hard to see here.) Anyway, tell me what you think.
