I saw this U.S. Air Force commercial air during some basketball games and it's definitely inspired by Captain Marvel.

 

^ At least one of them was wearing the squadron patch of a C-130 unit. I didn't recognize anyone that I flew with, though.

 

I think Sarge hates the tanker community or something. Two aerial refueling pics in the random pictures thread, neither of which received a like from him.

 

Pbbbt. Freaking tankers never get dirty, never go anywhere sucky, always run away from anything that looks like it might get dangerous, and all the photographers still think they're so cool and want to take their picture.

(No, that's not a fair assessment, it's just what those of us in trash-haulers like to gripe about.)

 

CM actually had a modest increase this past weekend over the previous to cross another milestone.

 

yah that's definitely an Avengers: Endgame bump. I betcha it'll go even higher this weekend. Maybe up to 15 million? 20?

Captain Marvel: How it Should Have Ended

CM finished #1 for Thursday (with EG early showings officially counting towards Friday). And lost in all of the Endgame insanity, it's on pace to enter in at #2 on the weekend with spillover and the EG bump. I don't remember that ever happening before; the same franchise having the top 2 spots at the weekend box office. Though there hasn't really been a franchise other than the MCU in a position to pull it off before either.

 

SW SE is the only comparison that springs to mind.

 

Questions... (I just saw the movie on Tuesday)

1. Why do the Kree want to hunt down and wipe-out the Skrulls?
2. Why do the Kree need a "lightspeed engine" when they already have FTL? Or did they simply know it was the Tesseract, and wanted it for power's sake?

 

Is it just me, or did I totally not need to see this movie in order to understand Endgame?

 

Yeah. But that could be explained to someone in about two sentences. I've told people at work who were worried they couldn't see Endgame yet that they don't need to see Captain Marvel first. Most seemed to think it would be absolutely necessary.

 

It's good to know there are people who worry about things like that. I feel better knowing that I know that now so I won't be surprised later.

 

I mean CM got a boost at the boxoffice this weekend. Undoubtedly because some people were like "oh **** I still haven't seen that and I want to see Endgame!"

 

And some people wanted a double bill.

 

Some people want their asses to hurt way too much.

 

And, some people were finishing up their rewatch marathon

 

It didn’t seem like it. I finally got to see it today. I wonder if Marvel is tweaking DC just a little bit, the Kree Starforce colours of green and black are a little too specific, as they are also the colours of the Green Lantern Corp, and I can’t imagine that Marvel wouldn’t know that, especially as the movie states the Kree can change their suit colours to be literally any combination they want.
