Is it too early for an EW first look and/or cover? Don't those usually show up closer to release?

 

Sometimes EW can do previews very far out. We'll definitely get a look at the costume tomorrow yay!

Oh and that is totally Captain Marvel's sash hanging from Ebony Maw's buddy, once you notice it you can't really stop.

Maybe he killed Captain Marvel in the past but because timestone/time travel they nab her and pull her into the present? Eh, weak guess, I admit...

 

That sash has only gotten a lot of notice since the IW blu-ray release. It was on the models of the characters that they showed off at Comic-Con a long while back and no one seemed to pick up on it because when you see it there you can tell the colors don't match CM's. It's orange with a near purple shade of blue. Cull also had orange highlights shot through the rest of his uniform that barely show up in the CGI version. I don't think it has any relation to CM myself.

 

Maybe it's Mar-Vell's?

So reading through the article:

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers. She’s left her earthly life behind to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law’s enigmatic commander.

So it won't be a full course origin story. Interesting.

IMDb does list a young Carol and (presumably) her brother. Pinch of salt on that, but if accurate, we'll be getting some sort of flashback, perhaps like GotG.

 

They have in fact cast an actress for a young Carol.

 

"Photon" was also one of her names when she relinquished Captain Marvel...

She's the patron saint of meat packers. They walled off a stretch of tundra in Wisconsin and named it after her.

Ronan and Korath will be allies of Captain Marvel. Maybe this sets up my speculation of one of the mid/post-credits scenes where she "persuades" the Kree to sign the peace treaty with Xandar.
