I managed to get away with no homework this weekend. Somehow.

    I'm still not sure how.

Well, you had me giggling. ;)

I'd complete the quote, but you know the GodSquad these days with their "TOS" and all.

Only a smattering of posts left to go. I trust we'll manage to have the new thread kicked off by the end of the American weekend?

    Darn, I was hoping for "Hooper McFinney's 6.0: *"

And the asterix would be pronounced "Dot".

I will not be making this into some contemporary p.o.s. bar.

It'll be for the most part the same, with a few new fine additions ;)

Opening ceremony for the XIII Paralympics at the Birds Nest Stadium in Beijing was simply AWESOME!!!

I was actually going to watch GP2 (feeder series for Formula One) racing, but frag that; what a spectacle.

I'm an NHRA man myself, but I can't say I really stay abreast of it.

NHRA?!? You do realize that a trained monkey could do that, as well as most NASCAR oval tracks...

Yeah, I know. I just like watching cars go really fast, at the risk of sounding like a five-year-old.

[face_peace] Despite the fact that I know both it and most of NASCAR are idiot sports, I too enjoy watching cars go really fast with lots of noise involved.

However, when it comes to motorsports fix, nothing is quite like watching a modified Subaru WRX STi flying sideways through a hairpin turn on a gravel road at 60mph. Id post a link to what Rally looks like, but im unsure of the rules regarding that in Hoopers lol

F1 is being led by about three or four drivers at the mo, with the most promising being Lewis Hamilton at MacLaren, and Massa at Ferarri.

Kovalleinen (MacLaren) and Robert Kubica (BMW?) are doing really well too.

Last year's World Champion, Raikonnen (Ferarri), isn't doing that well over the season, though whichever out of him and Massa win tomorrow, we reckon the team will back that person to lead the championship to the end of the season.

Too bad about Kimi. You would think after years of having his Mercedes-McLaren wonders hand grenade themselves repeatedly he would have been better off.

Massa is a surprise, when I was really into F1, Massa was good but not that impressive (bear in mind he was still being victimized by the likes of Montoya, R. Shumacher etc.) but good for him. Proves that Ferrari can move past one man.

So what happened to Scott Speed, the great American hope?

Motorsports of all kinds are totally free to link here in Hoopers. Strangely, i am a NASCAR guy at heart. I love NHRA as well, ended up interning on an NHRS Top Alcohol Dragster pit crew for a summer 3 years ago and got to be far closer than anyone else probably should get to a dragster (i was about 10 ft from John Force's car in the staging lane.....i probably have permanent hearing damage now)

But WRC is where its at man, to bad they don't have any Skoda's in wrc anymore, and that Mitsi doesn't field and factory teams like they used to, (Not to mention the new STI's are pieces of crap IMOH)

Formula One: The best racing tracks in the world, the most powerful machines, and the best drivers...what's not to like?

I've seen one NASCAR race before, and it seemed a bit silly. They just went around an oval speedway. Where's the skill in that? Hell, I could throttle a car around in a circle all day.

I like races with modified consumer purchasable Sports Cars, such as Lemans and such. I also like amateur events - my dad used to do Autocross in SCCA events. Its essentially a slalom for Cars, where you race to beat the best time, and it puts your handling to the test.
