Discussion Hopes and Fears

What is it that we fans hope to see in the new trilogy and what is it that we fear to see? Post them and share them now!

My Hopes:

• The New Jedi Order and following stories will be retconned or removed from the continuity (I want Chewie and Mara Jade).
• The Bantam Era post-RoTJ works will be accepted as workable background material and sources for characters, ideas, and general background.
• The complete Skywalker and Solo families will be present in the stories at least as background figures (Ben, Luke, and Mara for the Skywalkers) and (Han, Chewie, Leia, Jacen, Jaina, and maybe Anakin).

My Fears:

• A Celibate Luke Skywalker... Just please no, I want the farmboy from Tatooine turned Jedi not the raised in the temple monk type of Jedi.
• The complete acceptance of the NJO and its follow ups for background material, it's got too much baggage, darkness, and angst for a follow up of the OT. I don't want a dead Chewie or Mara Jade for example.
• Major contradictions of Bantam Era EU continuity...

What about you guys?

 

Hope for a great trilogy.

I hope for this to be the beginning of Starwars til I'm 80
Fear... The world implodes a day before VII

 

I hope for heroes I can root for & monsters to be scared of.

I hope that the protagonists and antagonists can battle for film after film. I didn't like it when Maul was killed off, unless if the point was to show how powerful Kenobi was, even at that age. I will be happy regardless of what they do. I do not get upset when characters are resurrected.

So my fear is that if they don't resurrect characters, that the new characters are not boring. Because back when I saw trailers for the Phantom Menace in 1999 or so, I had mixed feelings when I first saw Darth Maul.

Luckily, I began to like this new Maul character.

I hope I will also like the new characters that are coming.

I fear that I may not care about the new characters.

That is why I like resurrecting the characters I do like.

Because I'm not so good when it comes to making new friends.

 

You are the guy who goes back to an ex girlfriend and is like "Baby come back. We had a good thing" Move on buddy, something better is on the horizon

 

I don't honestly think he is going to understand that.

Hopes: The movie will be great.

Fears: That the new hero's won't be interesting enough, and that the older cast won't be given enough to do for them to really need to be there.

 

That is probably the greatest dear of all.

so if Mickey and Minnie mouse are actually husband and wife (*aren't they?) why are they dressed like Leia and Luke (looks more Obi-wanish really.)

 

i fear that disney may mess up star wars like they messed up the newest indiana jones with aliens maybe

 

DIsney has done well with Avengers, so them screwing up Star Wars is not a fear i wish to voice.

 

I fear that the new Star Wars film will have all new characters and no sith or jedi in it.

 

you do know disney has no connection with Indy 4 right?

I hope everything from the post-RotJ EU novels is not erased, I'm definitely more a fan of the Del Rey books than I am the Bantam books, but I do like all of the characters who were created under both publishing companies. I don't agree with everything that has happened in all of these books, but I do like all of the characters. I fear that most of what I have come to know and love about the EU will be erased or rendered SW infinities.

I hope the ST starts around 45 ABY, and Jaina Solo and Ben Skywalker are the two new Skywalker protagonists that the ST focuses on. I fear we'll have to get used to all new characters who's existence will erase that of the aforementioned Ben and Jaina. Though I will begrudgungly accept it when it happens.

I hope that the big 3 return, Luke sticks around longer than just for Episode VII, and Harrison Ford gets his wish for Han Solo to die in the first part of the ST.

I hope all of the main Jedi from the new Jedi order's Jedi Council make an appearance, even if they don't actually have speaking roles--ala the council from the Old Republic in the PT.

I would agree, but Vader needs the Vader pants.

Fears - It being horrible

 

Hopes : Hamill , Fisher & Ford reprise there roles ( I almost don't care about anything else )
No Chewbacca
Is Either set 30-34 ABY & reboot Ben Skywalkers age to 16 not 5 or 45-50 ABY so the EU stays Intact ,
I would also like to see a full scale Sith invasion

Fares : RE CASTING of anyone
The ressurection of Darth Vader or Palpatine
Foolish characters that everyone hates ( Jar Jar )
A total EU reboot

 

Hopes:
Mark, Carrie, Harrison
Chewie, the droids
Yoda Force ghost appearance
Ferocious lightsaber duels

Fears:
A non-John Williams score that sounds drastically different from the rest of the saga's music
Darth Vader rumor turns out to be true

 

Hope:
Story independent from any EU

Fear:
Taking EU into account and everybody who has not ready 40+ Book has no clue what is going on. Come on even Crytal Star is EU canon and we do not have to dicuss this book?.

 

Hope: The story will be at least as good as the OT, if not better

Fear: Too many kiddie, goofy characters and situations, so selling toys and other useless merchandise for kids will be easier
