Gaming Horizon Series: Zero Dawn (PS4) and Forbidden West (PS4/5)

I'm not sure why they'd need a remake of a game that had first come out on a last generation console, but I guess I could see why some people would want a remaster just so it's on par with HFW. Unless the game includes a free upgrade for those that already have the original, I doubt I'd buy a newer version.

 

Yeah I'm not really sure who this us for. The game is already gorgeous, great, and recent and iirc already has graphics updates when played on ps5?

Feels like a cash in.

 

I follow a HFD/HFW Facebook group, and someone had posted about it recently. There are mixed emotions; some are in fact excited about it.

Me, I'm just waiting for a new DLC to come out for HFW. Many people are getting withdrawals, especially those that have already gone through the game twice with New Game+.

 

If it's a free upgrade or minimal cost then fine, tweak it a little and it'll be like TLOU PS3 vs PS4. If it's a large price upgrade then no, I'll not be bothering

 

Funny you should mention TLOU; considering the fad of "TLOU: Part 1" for the PS5. You can actually see YouTube videos where they compare graphics for the three console versions of the game (PS3, PS4, and new PS5 remake).

 

If they do it smart, as minimal charge £9 / $10 upgrade for existing owners, it'd work.

The stuff that was done for Ghost of Tsuschima was well worth £9 - it was far more than just graphics.

Problem for HZD is playing it on PS5, it is stunningly good looking right now. At night, distractingly so - you'll get ambushes due to enjoying the lens flare light effects!

As to HFW DLC, Lance Reddick looks to have let the existence of it slip in a now deleted tweet.

 

Is that much of a spoiler, though? I think we all assumed there would be one...

 

Clearly Sony / Guerilla didn't want that cat out of the bag just yet.

 

Fine, but in this case the bag is already wriggling and making some meowing noises, so...

 

It is weird that Guerilla has been playing so hush hush on any legit news about a DLC for HFW; and yet news about the upcoming TV series, that VR project, and this new stuff about a potential reboot/remake of HZD are out in the open.

Horizon II: The Forbidden West got the number one spot in Digital Foundry's best looking games of 2022!

Nice to see the game get some recognition.

 

It deserves it..i voted it for best Art Direction.

60+ hours in, still have to get DETMER but I keep damn sidequesting and leveling up. Makes the main campaign easier. Just going to unlock another cauldron (Which are always a pain) and then move on with the main quest, honest.

Anyway I guess I can play Burning Shores now because my PS4 version was freely upgraded to PS5 version and it imported all of my PS4 saves so that's pretty sweet.

 

You know, I'll be the first to tell you that First Person adventure games aren't my cup of tea; and VR games much less. But the notion of seeing Tallnecks, Thunderjaws, and Stormbirds how Aloy would see them is certainly intriguing.

 

RIP Lance Reddick. Of course he was far well known for more prominent acting roles, but fans of the HZD/HFW can always think of him specifically as Sylens.

 

You know, I was considering putting the purchase of the new DLC on hold since I'm probably not going to get the chance to play it that often with the baseball season in full swing, but this latest clip might've pushed it for me.
