Just curious..how long are you considered a newbie and how long before your adopter gets a new adoptee?

the question is: who cares. Really. I'm from Jan 04... does that make me a newbie? Who cares? All I know is that I've contributed more to these forums than many "oldbies". Just give it a rest.

considering that this forum has been around since 1998... a week would be a little short... a week would be nothing but an eyeblink in that perspective...

and as much as I appreciate your enthusiasm... please, give your caps lock function a break... capital letters are very anoying... and it will almost certainly take you longer than a week before you're considered an oldie if you keep typing like that :p

Well, sorry for my late appearance, bladex2. Allow me to state, you are not alone on this question. I have seen many other users PM me about a few months later asking me this exact same thing :) . And as so, this is what I think it all boils down to. As I've told them in the past. It mainly depends on what you think is a resonable amount of time. If you think you are ready to set out on your own. And your Adopter feels confident in releasing you from themselves, then I believe that your Adoption is over, and you can then wait a few more months if need be to be an Adopter yourself. (Time may vary depending upon registration date ;) )

I hope that answered your question.

Stridarious, I beleive Darth Dude's comments on this thread were totally uncalled for.
    Blade asked a relevant question.
The truth is you are a newbie if you registered after 2000 or so and until you adopt a newbie yourself.
    As was explained to me.

I kind of think of it this way anymore,

    0-4 months=Newbie

    4-12 months=Midbie

    12+ months=Oldbie.

    That's just IMO,of course. :)

Well, I've been here two years and I don't consider myself an oldbie, maybe a midbie.

Don't get stressed about the "newbie" "oldbie" "midbie" titles. They really don't mean anything in the long run. What's important is that you know the rules and post responsibly. That's all that really matters. :)

Thank you for that Princess...well put indeed!

Actually, it really depends on the individual. Responsibilty is very important whether you are new or old to the boards.

As far as the Adoption programme is concerned there is a requirement that you should have been on the boards for a period of a few months-step in any time Strid. You will know for certain the time. :)

As for contribution to a board, --Darth_Dude--...it's not only about quantitiy of posts but also about quality and about how well you have got on with fellow posters.
Also, a question was asked by someone newer to the boards...this is the place where new people can get answers. So let's help 'em out, k? :)

candy, caps are usually concerned "shouting" but it's understandable as a newbie mistake. Don't worry...you'll do fine. ;)

    All right people...moving on... ;)

I don't like all this "oldbie", "newbie" stuff. I've been here since Feb 02, and still act like a newbie sometimes!

Anyone who registered after the move to Snowboards will never be a true oldbie.

    July 98 - July 00 = oldbie
    July 00 - April 03 = midbie
    April 03 - now = newbie

So it is written, so it shall be!

    Yeah,I know there's probably some people from '99 or '00 that would consider me a newbie. 8-}

It dosent matter. I consider my self a midbi and ive been here for almost 2 years. But another person who has been here 2 years might consider them selvs an oldbi or a newbie. It dosent matter.
