Should the Saga have an end point and a definite conclusion? Should it continue forever? Or has it already continued too far?

Or perhaps the Saga should come to a final conclusion but we should still follow the adventures of many of its main characters in spinoffs after it ends?

Tell us what you think and why.

I think the Saga should've ended with the first 6, then a new Saga should've begun, set possibly hundreds of years before or after the first Saga.

I went with the 2nd option but I'm not real set on it. As long as they can keep making good Star Wars movies than I say keep going, but space out any trilogies a bit. I also worry a bit with the spin-offs that there could be some Star Wars fatigue for some people.

I think the Saga should end at Episode IX - but I certainly want more films after that; just not "Episode" films.

LOL, I love the "only the Holiday Special" option.

I voted "continue forever with long breaks between trilogies" but I could see the Skywalker line dying out with this trilogy and the "Saga" being about new characters altogether, new generations of Force users, with the spinoffs being about characters other than Jedi and Sith.

The Star Wars IP should have continued by adapting Lucas' stories (sequel trilogy, live-action series, TCW series) and then with other writers/filmmakers providing brand new stories and characters not related to Lucas' characters.

Considering what ended up happening, I would have to vote for I-VI and end it there.

I voted for it to end at Episode IX. However, I'm just talking about this particular Saga. I still want to see trilogies, I just want them to be set long before the Saga or far enough into the future that they're not Episodes X onwards.

It's all episodic Space Soap Opera. Or as George said "Soap Opera with Spaceships". Let it go as long as it can go. Breaks between trilogies aren't a bad idea, but keep it moving forward, the story of the Skywalkers, their friends, their struggles internally and with their Faith. Keep each film spread out by at least 2 years, if not more for us to chew on and digest what we saw then get hungry for more.

Let us conjecture forever about all the unfilled gaps, whether or not we like this character or that, and leave us to wonder "what's next"? until we tire from it. This soap opera backtracked for so long, so it's really hasn't moved forward for 33 years, we can afford for it to continue forward for quite a while.

For those not anxious for more, there's the good old box sets to keep them happy and forums to discuss what transpired 30 years ago with this soap.

    None of the above

    I'm for having different sagas

    How about

    The Skywalker Saga (Episodes I-IX)
Some new saga with its own Episodes I-whatever
    Another one, Episodes I-whatever, etc

They can all be set in the same universe, but centuries or even millennia apart. All the same universe, but each saga separate thematically and in story

I chose my favorite of the options: The Holiday Special. (I love the HS)

I'd like to see the episodic saga go on for as long as I live but don't want it to go on forever.

I'm already regretting my vote (for ending at 9) as I didn't read any posts before making my vote and now I see a number of other posts that are more clearly reflective of my view.

In theory, I would have liked to have had the Skywalker saga run through Ep IX [I always kind of liked the idea of three trilogies], but, given what we got with TFA, unless I end up feeling that VIII and IX are really, really good, I won't be surprised if I end up thinking the official saga should have stopped with the GL films. Even some of the departures from GL's style in TFA wouldn't probably have bothered me as much as they did if TFA had been a story only about new characters not closely tied to previous films, rather than with a mix of new characters with beloved familiar ones.

This is a good point, Seagoat.

Can you add this choice (without eliminating any of the others if possible; if not possible, please replace the ANH choice)?

"The Skywalker Saga should end near 10 but there should be other Sagas earlier/later in the timeline"

So, in other words, you think this is the best answer: "The Saga should come to its conclusion just before Frank T. passes away." :p

That would be awesome. But I wouldn't mind if it extended a little after I'm gone.

I am of the mind that as long as there are good, solid stories to be told that are then made into more great movies, I would want the saga to run as long as it can. So, forever would be ideal. :D

The Skywalker Saga can go 9, 12, or 15 movies long. I'm fine with any of those or if it even goes longer.

I'd love a Saga set during the old Sith Wars.

And heck why not start another Saga after the end of the Skywalker Saga?

    More stories!

As far as I´m concerned he Star Wars saga should have continue by George Lucas´s Episodes VII, VIII and IX, the remaining "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" episodes and the "Star Wars: Underworld" tv series and then end once and for all!

Permit me to become an angry, spitefull, butthurt, bitchy "George Lucas Fanboy/Walt Disney Studios Hater" for a moment: to hell with Disney which I´ll never forgive how they treated Lucas and his stories!

6 movies from 1977 to 2005 or 2011 with Lucas' final changes or movies forever?

Movies forever. I've read plenty of EU stories, just as good as the movies imo, so go for it.

1-6. It's the only way to have a coherent story with beginning, middle and end. (and as a plus, they were made by the same guy).

    I don't like unnecessary sequels, spin-offs, and never-ending sagas.
