Wow - I must be a freak then!
I'm estimating that I've seen each one about 20 times, except maybe TPM, because I was counting Special Editions for the OT in addition to the times I saw them in the theater the first time, when they were originally out--oh, h***, maybe it's been more than 20 times each.
I voted around the 250 mark, not 250 times for each film, but 250 times in total for all the films.
I have no idea -- I don't understand this kind of thing; I don't sit down and count every time I watch a film...
It's all guesstimation!!!
VHS tapes will snap after about 72 views.
I haven't seen all of the OT yet
crikey I must have seen Episode IV at least 250 times and that was about 15 years ago so by now I recon its over the 500
I guessed somewhere in the 31-40 range, but it may be slightly more.
Hmmm, this isn't really giving very conclusive results yet.
BTW, AT_60, I think it means how many times have you seen each film added together. So if you've seen the every film 3 times each, then your answer in the poll would be 12.
I really have trouble in understanding this question...
I've seen TPM 4 times (1 time the French version, 1 time the French Canadian version, at last 2 times in English)
ANH 3 times (2 in French, 1 in English)
but ESB and RotJ... that's very hard to tell
Just give an educated guess, it doesn't have to be 100% accurate.
I have estimated to be somewhere in the 30's.
I can't believe so few people have seen these movies +500 times. From age 10-13, for those three summers I watched each of the 3 movies at least once per week. Not to mention for about 5 years I had a habit of watching one of the movies each Saturday for most of the year (its deathly hot in the middle of the day in Florida so you must stay inside and watch tv).
And yes, PB is right, the tapes do wear out and must be replaced. I don't watch the movies so much now (I don't have the time, and besides, I still have about half of them memorised). I currently have all 4 movies in boxoffice format and I really really hope to get the DVDs before those die!
That's exactly what I'm doing. Don't watch them now, just keep them, then watch the DVDs as much as you want.
No! Hopefully soon...
Over 500 at least
Yeah, I'm with the over 500 for sure. I stopped counting the OT at 300, most of which we watched years ago..over and over and over and over..heck when Star Wars came out we went every other day over the summer. We knew the Manager at the time and he would let us sit and watch it all day...so our parents just dropped us off at 11am and pick us up around 6-7.
With TPM saw in theaters 10 times and have watched video about 30 times...Harder now when work and life happens.
Amazing really to think how much time that is. yikes!
No problem Admiral_Thrawn60
I used to have ANH and ROTJ taped off of a movie station, on TV, when I was about 7. From then, until about 1993, I watched them both about 3 times a year. Let's say 36 viewings. Plus I saw ESB twice during that time... so 38. When the THX VHS was released, I watched them each another 3 times. So 47. When Special Editions hit, I saw them each in the theatre 3 times. So 56. Since I got the Special Edition on video, I've watched all three about 5 times. So that's 71. Then TPM in theatres 9 times, 3 times on video.
A grand total of... 83 times?
I'm guessing around the hundred mark for all films. Never thought to keep count.
I actually have seen the origiinal trilogy on a big screen. But it wasn't in a theater.
My Dad's friend was in charge of the college's Planetarium (think small I-Max). They rented the movies on laserdisk and for three Saturdays we went to watch Star Wars on the Dome's screen in big comfy chairs with popcorn we popped in the teacher's lounge and drinks we brought. I was 11 years old and it was wonderful!
Star Wars on IMAX? <droooooooool>
I remember the IMAX documentary Special FX, and how they re-did the opening sequence to ANH in IMAX format (this was before the special editions came out). It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. Of course, right after that, everyone was talking about how the special editions were all going to come out for IMAX... those were the days
