TROS novel: The heretics of the Sith Eternal toiled, splicing genes, bolstering tissue, creating unnatural abominations in the hope that one of these strandcasts would succeed and become a worthy receptacle. The heretics would do anything, risk anything, sacrifice anything, to create a cradle for their god-consciousness.Nothing worked. But their efforts were not entirely in vain.
One genetic strandcast lived. Thrived, even. A not-quite-identical clone. His “son.” But he was a useless, powerless failure. Palpatine could not even bear to look upon such disappointing ordinariness.

So, the sith eternal and the 'heretics' of the sith eternal and 'their god-consciousness'.

It's as if Kylo's knowledge (and Vader's) was non-heretic. The dyad, two that are one. Maybe Vader was aware of 'the prophesized dyad' having to do with the chosen one, who he still was according to Lucas.

Palpatine doesn't notice the dyad; and when he does, he uses it in order to be the one true emperor (=god?) The sith eternal were originally a dyarchy -like Kylo and Dark Rey ruling the galaxy. The monarchy (=emperor) would have been a later idea.

So, not one throne, but two. DOTF script:

INT. MEDICAL BAY - NIGHT
Kylo screams as a jolt of electricity flows into the iron on his face, finishing the job.
He is suddenly WRACKED BY A VISION...
A MOUNTAIN
Snow on the jagged peaks. A TEMPLE older than all known time.
AN ANCIENT CHAMBER
Two massive thrones built into the rock. A WELL OF LIGHT, pulsing from deep below.

Rey is wracked by the same vision...but it continues...

LUKE SKYWALKER steps into the light. A more tangible form of Force Ghost, similar to his projected self on Crait.

Luke turns grave. He sits, as Obi-Wan once sat beside him.
