ST How Will Ep. IX Begin?

How do you all think Ep. IX will begin? Obviously we'll get an outer space sequence in the beginning. Beyond that what will it be? TLJ started with a battle so I don't know that they'd double dip with another one of those right out of the gate. Will it be something similar to ROTJ where we have a scene with the First Order jibber jabbering on their base or will it be the other way around and we'll get a scene aboard a Resistance ship with Leia and/or Poe planning things out? Maybe it's something else altogether? A scene that starts in space and quickly takes us to a planet surface a la TFA?

I think a first bit of time must be allotted in establishing the resistance is in formidable shape in some way. TLJ ended with them In ruin so that might be a starting point. Then again LEIA could take center stage right away also. My way would have KOR on the prowl and looking for action

 

That might be kinda bold having Leia front and center in the opening sequence.

 

Especially if the camera pans down and instead of seeing a spaceship flying somewhere, we see Leia doing her Mary Poppins impression again. I'd almost admire the audacity of that. Almost.

 

Ha. I might fall out of my chair laughing if they did that.

 

I'd go with a First Order opening, get some big action sequences right from the get go. Something to show Kylo Ren has stepped up in dark side bad-assery since we saw him in TLJ. Have him destroy a nascent revolution on some planet single handed with lots of lightning.

 

I would love for a slow mysterious start like Empire Strikes Back.

 

JJ Abrams is going to pay homage to ROTJ in some way. It’ll be with hux visiting Kylo Ren or Kylo Ren visiting Hux and/or the knights of ren. Before switching to the resistance or something else

 

Desperate attempt of a Resistance vessel to get close enough to an outer region ally to send a help signal, only to be intercepted by a squadron of FO ship. To mirror ANH, the resistance vessel is not able to escape. But, little do the FO know,, the signal was able to be sent and received. We will find out WHO receives it and what they do near the end of the film when the resistances seems all but decimated.

 

Yeah I could also see them starting with the First Order too. I think we might see Kylo meeting with Richard Grant’s character who has replaced Hux and we’ll see a bitter demoted Hux stewing as he observes Kylo Ren and Grant talking.

With this we get an introduction to Grant’s character and we get some foreshadowing that Hux will betray Kylo.

Then they’ll cut to the resistance.

 

Upbeat dramatic Williams score.
A huge fleet. Thousands.
A wide range of styles and sizes.
Ships zipping about, and the camera zooms in on some of the cockpits to show their varied species, from all Trilogies.

Finally we move in on a grand Star Destroyer sized Mon Cali cruiser, to see Admiral Poe Dameron on the bridge, issuing commands.

They are closing in on a similarly sized the First Order fleet. General Hux is frothing at the mouth, yelling hate and orders.
TIEs start launching.

We're starting the show with a massive space battle.

(Seriously. We need an all out Space Battle in this movie.)

 

Why not General Connix leading the battle?

 

Oh, man. A mirror of ANH, where the Resistance is trying to get information to Lando, would be great. Perhaps even have 3PO and R2 do the honors. Some fans will cry "rehash!" but who cares? It could be glorious.

I think we could get something like that. At the end.

 

It will start with something like this

 

ROTJ rehash R2, 3PO and BB-8 on Tatooine requesting to meet Rotta "Stinky" the Hutt.

 

....well....

I think an insanely bold opening would be to start in the past, with Luke's lightsaber falling to the ground on Bespin, followed by the lightsaber relay race that was originally part of the TFA opening. Then a jump forward in time. A complete break with tradition, and probably unworkable in context of the existing story, but something I'd really love to see.
