9, incredible amount of fun but slight pacing problem.

10. ANH is the best of them all, although ROTS could beat it in my view. A wonderful film with brilliant sense of good versus evil. An epic in every sense.

It gets a 9 from me.

 

It's one of my favorite movies, but outta the STAR WARS films I would say it gets a 7.

A New Hope is why we are all here. It defined my generation, and is the standard for movies of it's kind. Even now, almost 30 years later it is a great film.

3.65! A good show, but lacking in some respects...say, the level of humanity! I think that Christopher Walken would have made a better Han Solo. Why is it that James Whitmore didn't get to play Obi-Wan? And Erik Estrada should have been Luke - I honestly can't imagine anyone else in the role! Talk about missed opportunities. It coulda been great! It coulda been a masterpiece!

10! A New Hope is a fantastic movie with a great plot. It does have room for improvement as others have said. Just look at all the goofs at imdb.

 

I voted 10. Simply because it's my favourite of the series, it has a rich and intresting story, it was the first, and it captures my imagination like no other film can do. Plus, look at what it did for pop culture, and it lifted the 70's out of the doldrums - it made cinema cool again. And, God willing, one day I will have children of my own that I can share the experience with, and see the wonder in their eyes as my parents saw it in mine.
