Excellent! The first Star Wars actor at a Toronto Trek convention.

Well that is good news indeed. I'll definitely be going now.

    Providing I'm not working...

I'd been thinking of giving TTrek a skip this year - what with Celebration, the line, and everything else it's shaping up to be a busy year.

    But with Anthony Daniels appearing....

maybe they'll be showing his film, "I bought a vampire motercycle" in 10-forward. One can only hope.

'I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle', eh? Tell me more. I only happen to be the TT video room co-ordinator, and I only happen to have not finalised the video sked.

I only happen to have wondered what Star Wars to show. I'd love to show either the special edition of Star Wars, or Empire Strikes Back. However, the small additions of Greedo shooting first and Luke screaming as he falls to his death in Cloud City only happen to ixnay that idea. So it'll probably only happen to be the widescreen tape of Empire: the pre-special ed.

It even only occurred to me to screen 'The Hidden Fortress', The Kurusawa film because it has an Artoo-Threepio subplot in it. Dunno if that'll fly.

I'd watch 'Hidden Fortress', though, I've been trying to see it for awhile now.

Been debating wether or not to buy it sight-unseen. Sigh. $43.99 is a lot for a movie one hasn't seen. $60.99 for The Seven Samurai is also too expensive to buy a movie sight-unseen.

I'm not much of a gambling man... However I've surely spent enough on DVDs over the last year. I don't think any of them are duds. I think there are a couple of Kurusawa discs in the rental.

No promises on screening Hidden Fortress - it's only relevant to SF media in hindsight. But I assure you there will be nothing but the best in the TT video room.

(PS this may mean showing a couple of episodes of 'Droids' instead of an Akira Kurusawa film. Heh heh.)

I bought Hidden Fortress from Criterion Collection. Sight unseen.

Still unseen! No time yet. Maybe this week coming up I'll settle down to watch 139 minutes of a black and white Japanese film with subtitles.

I want to get Seven Samurai as well.. seen it in town, keep debating getting it.

If I had the money I'd do it. I bought Lawrence of Arabia without having seen it and it's one of my favourite movies. (Much better on the bigscreen, though) So different.

In my film class this year we watched a lot of foreign films, so I'm pretty use to subtitles now and movies that would be considered unconventional by most (8 1/2, Breathless, Les Mistons)

Unfortunately, they didn't screen any Kurosawa. For the topic on the Japanese film industry they showed, Yasujiro Ozu's "Tokyo Story". Unfortunately, I missed that lecture. dang.

If I have some extra cash this summer, I'll pick up at least one Kurosawa movie.

Didn't care for Star Woids - its a fan made documentary that could used some serious editing. They attempt to compare the 2 lines for Ep1 that went on in LA. along with various related and unrelated interviews.

    Disjointed to say the least.

Got GL in Love on tape
Troops on DVD from Total Movie.
Haven't seen the Hardware Wars DVD yet
And as many have seen, I have the ThumbWars DVD as well.

I thought Starwoids was worth it if only to see the footage from "Star Wars: The Musical" and that Boba Fett guy.

I think that seeing that movie is what made me want to try out the line this time. It looked like such a fascinating experience.

Ah, we should all just get everyone tanked and watch Battlestar Galactica.

Everytime we see a blatant rip off from Star Wars we`ll take a shot of burbon.

As to Hidden Fortress, don't know that you'd want to buy it, but definitly rent it.

I'd love to see ANH dubbed with the dialogue of the two criminals from the beggining for r2 and 3po.

Well, I do have the pilot movie for Battlestar Galactica!

Considering it was made to cash in on Star Wars, and featured a large portion of the ILM crew...

Same goes for Star Trek TMP. Everyone wanted to cash in on the success of Star Wars.
