Saw the movie at it's North American premier several years ago at the IFC Center in Manhattan. I thought it was really well done; and up until recently was considered to be Miyazaki's Swan song. He was always fascinated by planes from the beginning; and the movie was really a love letter to his childhood.

Because if The Phantom Menace can get a theatrical re-release, anything can.

    Oh, so that's your confession.

It's going to take quite a few hail Mary's to get forgiveness for that one.

I'm not ashamed of it either. I loved that movie as kid. Saw it twice in the theater. I thought Jar Jar was hilarious and awesome. [face_not_talking]

Yeah but I was 8 when it came out and could only go with an adult. Went first time with my Dad as my brother was with our cousins and not sure what my Mom was doing, maybe watching them. Then we went as a family

I really like The Wind Rises a lot. I mean, a lot, a lot. I guess I get what people are saying, but ultimately the movie wrestles with the issue of beautiful art/technology being turned into weapons and I think in some ways the movie is really defined by that tragedy, the iconic ideal vs. the violent reality. It's ultimately a romanticization of flying and airplanes, but not of war and violence. The people who think the main character shouldn't be who he is are missing the point. The problem they say they have with it . . . that's exactly the point of the movie.

I agree. There is also a scene in the end to make it clear.
When I said something similar, the answer was "yet he was naive enough to keep working for such an instrument of death, even if he was just doing his job. Also, he didn't spend enough time with his beloved wife in order to focus on his career".

I like The Phantom Menace. Now, it's not good. But I like it because Obi-Wan is my favorite and he has an interesting story in it. So I watch for that. And the awesome score.

Not even Obi-Wan could make Attack of the Clones worthwhile, though... And yet I still watch it when watching all the films for some reason.

See I like TPM but AOTC was my problem. So much could of happened with the clones but they only show up in the end. That is the worst one in my opinion, TPM doesn't nearly deserve all the hate it gets compared to what should be towards AOTC.

Let's face it. The only thing good about that movie was Christopher Lee and Yoda fighting with a lightsaber. Freaking Yoda bouncing everywhere is the best thing.

I just listened to two Air Supply songs on YouTube...and...and...I enjoyed them both. Sang along with parts to boot.

    *hangs head in shame*
