JCC I got a dog

    We ordered a DNA test to find out. He is a mix of some kind and the shelter didn't know his parents.

    Controversially, night crate training lasted exactly one night. We want to make him feel safe and comfortable at night before tackling discipline. But I have had problems with my lil dachshund having separation anxiety, so I want Moses to be independent and ok by himself as well. We will have to figure out how to strike the right balance. But right now he sleeps in an elevated bed with his family every night.

    Crate training never worked with my dog. I did it until she was potty trained, then I couldn't take her whining all night anymore after that point. She desperately wanted to sleep in the bed with me, and now I wouldn't have it any other way.

    The 23andMe test is a grand idea. You'll be able to figure out what percentage of him is Moldavian vs Slovakian and, with a good Jewish name, whether his great-great-granpup was Ashkenazi or Sephardic. His grandpup's immigration paperwork is probably online, too.
