    Hey all!

    My brother is marrying a Danish girl, and we're heading to Denmark this May for the wedding.

    My fiancée and I are going to be in Copenhagen for three days before we have to go to Aabenraa for the wedding (her family is from Padbourg).

    I was wondering if any of you had some good recommendations for stuff to do while in Copenhagen.

    We have already made reservations to a couple of restauraunts there...

    Thanks for your help!

    If you're into the whole Tourist thing, there are plenty of castles to look at.

    We'll be staying at a hotel right in the middle of downtown Copenhagen.

    I'd love to visit historical sites, castles, and such.

    Any recommendations?

    Amalienborg where the Royal Family lives.
    Rosenborg where the crown jewels are stored.
    Christiansborg where the government works.

    And while you're there, take a walk through Strøget and do some shopping.
    Also you can take Kanalrundfarten. A guided tour down the canals.

    Thanks! I'll make a note of those places...

    Have you heard anything about Restaurant Kommandanten and Krogs Fiskerestaurant?

    We have reservations to both places...

    Hi there

    I would recommend you visit this website: Denmark.dk which is the official site for tourists coming to Denmark.

    The following things might be of interest:

    Tivoli Something like Bakken.

    Bakken The world oldest amusement park. (Ups. My mistake Nille)

    Nationalmuseet The National Museeum.

    Kongehuset If you want to know something about the royalties.

    The Little Mermaid Many tourists like to go see this one as well.

    Krak If you know the address, then you write it in here and see the location on a map.
    Navn = name
    Søgeord = Searchword
    Vej = Road/Street
    Postnr. = Post number
    By = City
    Område = Area
    Kommune = -
    Tlf./mobil = Telephone number/Mobile number
    Slet = Erase

    I hope you will enjoy you trip to Denmark and that your brother and sister-in-law will have a great wedding.

    Edit: I have heard of Kommandanten but I haven't been there myself. But it is supposed to be one of the best restaurents in Copenhagen.

    I haven't heard of Krogs Fiskerestaurant, but I guess it is in the better class as well.

    To know more about Copenhagen and the restaurents and activity here then you can look at Alt om København (All about Copenhagen)

    mundi> no bakken is older than tivoli.. bakken is from 1583..

    i like bakken more then tivoli, tivoli is always overcrowed and bakken is more peaceful and have a very old wood rollercoaster it's charming there...

    Unless it's full of drunken bikers and people who want to fight :(

    No seriously, all of the above suggestions are really good, hope you have a great time in Denmark :) The weather is very cold at the moment, but it's sunny so it's not so bad, don't expect snow :)

    Thanks for the advice and links! Those websites are very good... I put them all in my 'favorites' menu for future reference.

    That's kind of ironic (and funny), P-Nille, about that Louisiana museum! I live in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. [face_laugh]

    We'll actually be staying at the Sofitel Copenhagen Plaza, which is right across the street from Tivoli.

    Is there any kind of local specialites (in the food area) that you guys recommend? Anything that I should not miss in trying while I'm in Denmark? I'm somewhat of what we call a 'foodie' around here, as I truly believe that you can't experience the culture totally without experiencing the cuisine. (It's in my family, my brother is a chef, and my fiancée and I go out to restaurants quite often - it's sort of a hobby).

    [face_laugh] Some might say that danish cuisine is kind of boring, but we do have a few specialities you might like. In a lot of ways it's very similar to Swedish food. You know, Smorgasbord, meatballs and that kind of stuff.

    If you want to visit more European countries, I guess you can take a trip over the bridge to Sweden.

    And from a foreigner's point of view, what you should eat in Denmark is their red hotdogs, beer and sandwiches (smörrebröd). Swedish meatballs are better than the Danish though. ;) :p

    No way, danish meatballs rule! (what am I saying?)

    BTW Swedish people eat mashed potatoes with their hotdogs - how weird is that? :p

    It's the same week as the royal wedding, so luckily I was able to get a good hotel in Copenhagen for that week.

    However, it wasn't cheap (2199 DK/night).

    The wedding isn't in Copenhagen, though, it's in Aabenraa (her family is from Padborg).

    By the way, [Homer Simpson]mmmm Beer.[/Homer Simpson] hehehe.

    Hey guys, I have another question...

    I might stop by Ida Davidsen to try a smørrebrød.

    Any recommendations on what I should try?

    I'll ask my sister-in-law.

    I would guess that's probably the liver pâté and that pickled herring, but that's just a guess...
