I dunno man. We were waiting for all the old people who didn't play video games to die off and a land of milk and honey where no one gave you grief for your hobby to commence. What happened was that people who played video games grew up, had kids and started worrying about what effect the violence and titties in the games they used to love were having on their little darlings.

    That's not even internally consistent.

I admire your dedication, but not everyone can turn off their targeting computer.

Where's the dude who was calling us commies or whatever? Bring him back, he was fun.

Sneer as you wish, American capitalist dog, but principles of Marxist-Leninist socialist world revolution will emerge victorious in end!

I almost didn't just because it's such an unmitigated hot mess, but my personal amusement won out.

You can say that again. The whole thing started with an out of context satirization of the Redskin charitable foundation to Native Americans. They have a point that Washington should dropped the "Redskin" name in it's entirety.

This isn't a new thing. It's a regurgitated thing with whatever new media society has. This same argument about sex and violence influencing the young people was last seen targeting comic books back in the 40s and 50s, with Dr. Fredric Wertham the most outspoken (later he became an advocate of comics in the 70s). What it really boils down to is people being relatively ignorant of the media that their children are actively consuming. Also, if you really want to get into it, parents who fail to teach their kids the difference between fantasy and reality; encouraging imaginative play while making sure that the child doesn't go too far.

It's not the media's fault. Blaming the media is a cop-out. If you don't want Little Timmy to read Bloodgun #1, or play Hardgore Gut-Blaster, then do your best to restrict his exposure to it. Be mindful of the media, educate yourself about the various age levels things are targeted to, research what exactly is in the latest Cawwadooty game, and decide for yourself if you feel that Little Timmy is mature enough to handle it. And as always, educate him about it, as no matter what, he'll encounter it eventually.

NOOO!!! Don't walk down that path, MS! That way lay madness!

OTOH, the How I Met Your Mother finale is pretty much going to blow all other Twitter rage-storms out of the water, so the Colbert storm saved Snyder and now HIMYM will save Colbert...it's the Circle of Hate!

Just swiped this from the Twitters; I think there might be a person or two in this thread who could stand to see it.

Sadly Jedi are also heavily over represented and generally incredible bland. [face_sigh]

Yes. Also, what's with all the spaceships and lasers?? God, those are the worst.

Star Wars should only be about Outer Rim Trade Policy. TPM had it right and then they had to blow it with the ending.

Del Rey agrees, which is why the final novel in their contract is going to be THE COLLECTED WHITE PAPERS OF SATE PESAGE by Nouriel Roubini.

It's time to show fans that STAR WARS is about more than stars and wars!

I hate to break it to you, but the aggressively handsome quarterback of my high school football team was an EU fan. In a thread about breaking stereotypes, it's worth noting that the hardcore nerd caricature tells you more about the individual person than some integral truth of reading sci-fi.

Johnathan Hickman has promised to do just that if they put him on a Star Wars comic at Marvel.

There's a fair amount of depressing stuff in that article like this:

In that case, things are screwed, but then it gives a perfect reason for me not to bother with Twitter:

Not. Interested. Conclusion has some good points though:

But recognition of intent is surely a two-way thing, isn't it? Had that been done in the first place would this have blown up in the way it did?
