MDCU:Gotham Ninja- Shinobi Clan Leaders by Nightshade475
    [IMG]

The Shinobi Order is governed by the rules established years ago by the Yottsukonin (Four Great Ninja Masters) and the Noble Clan leaders. The Order's rules are enforced by the Kuran no Shuhanin (Shinobi Clan Leaders). Each Noble clan has a representative that speaks for their clan, but the rules that govern them apply to all followers of Nindo (the Way of the Ninja). The balance within the Shinobi Order was maintained with the Demon Beast Affiliation Pact. Each clan aligned itself with one of the powerful creatures as a form of deterrent through mutually assured destruction. Although it is not a noble clan, the Assassin Class has amassed such a following by having the support of the League of Shadows and all of its rogue and solitary ninja, that it has earned the right of representation and a seat at the table, which is sat in by Onishusoku, The Demon's Head.

Clan Leader: The Riddler (Eido Nazo)

    Shinobi Clan: Enigma Clan

    Specialty: Confusion, deception, genjutsu

Clan Members: Cluemaster, Question, Query(deceased), Spoiler(exiled), Spellbinder, Conundrum, Stash, Mindboggler, Concealer, Quiz, Charade, Veil, Hide & Seek(twins), Obscurator, X (now Red X; exiled), Ms. Leid (brainteaser), Ms. Belief (brainteaser), Ms. Dierhecshun (brainteaser), Mystifier (brainteaser); Cryptic, Rune & Sphinx (elders), Paradox (former clan leader)

Base of Operations: Shinobi Forrest of the Bristol Woods

Demon Beast Affiliation: Nobusuma, The Demon Squirrel

The Enigma Clan was founded on the tenet of keeping themselves steps ahead of their enemies by keeping them confounded through the art of causing confusion. Of all the clans, this one prides the development of the mind over that of the body more than any other. They value intellect as their most valuable asset, and as a result of their training and culture, tend to have an aire of arrogance about them. Through honing their mental techniques, genjutsu not only comes quite easily to them, but is utilized frequently. The highest ranked among them have taken to leaving escapes to their traps embedded within them for their own amusement and to rank themselves among their clansmen by how difficult it is to escape from their traps with the solution right in front of them. They often employ tactics to trick the senses, and are deemed the least trustworthy of the clans, as nothing is ever what it seems with them. Enigma Clan members value their anonymity, even amongst themselves. They obscure their identities with masks, wigs, hair dye, facepaint, false lenses, and such. They don’t even reveal their birth names, sometimes even amongst family members. The kunoichi of the Enigma Clan are not allowed to operate in the field, but instead are used in the capacity of instructors to the younger and lower ranked shinobi. The practice of only male members being allowed to actively participate as field operatives was set in place when The Riddler was a child, and his older sister Query was taken prisoner, brutally tortured, and forced to give up key clan secrets; which is all important to this clan. The clan’s kunoichi are referred to as Brainteasers; preparing the male members for field duty by mentally and psychologically testing them to improve their shinobi and cerebral skills and challenging their perceptions.

    - Riddler’s design is based on The Batman animated series version of the character.

Clan Leader: Lord Blackhawk (Hishou Kurotori)

    Shinobi Clan: Blackbird Clan

Clan Members: Black Eagle(former leader; deceased), Black Siren (deceased), Lady Blackhawk, Black Canary, Black Condor, Black Skylark, Black Wren, Magpie, Black Nightingale, Black Stork, Black Vulture, Black Heron, Black Parrot, Black Crow, Black Egret, Black Falcon, Buzzard, Black Owl, Black Talon(now Red Talon), Starling (exiled)

    Specialty: Couriers, evasion, Air walking

Base of Operations: The Aerie, in the cliffs of the Ashigara Mountain range

Demon Beast Affiliation: Onmoraki, The Demon Crane

The Blackbird Clan resides in The Aerie, a stronghold high in the mountains. They are the premiere couriers and masters of evasion of the ninja world, and select members possess the unique trait of "air walking". This allows the practitioner to gather energy in air molecules, draw them together, and with an equal but opposite charge, channel energy into their foot…allowing them to “step” in midair. While higher level members can do multiple steps, Lord Blackhawk can string together enough that he can literally “run” on air. His father, Lord Black Eagle arranged a deal with Onishusoku, The Demon's Head to allow for the arranged marriage of one of the deadliest assassins ever produced by the League of Shadows to his heir. Lord Blackhawk has an elite squadron of shinobi known as Black Razor; they are handpicked by him as the best of the best, chosen to accompany him on the highest ranked missions. Blackhawk served on Black Razor under his father alongside his wife, Black Canary. As soon as he was made clan leader upon his father’s death, his wife Zashiki was removed from active field duty; as his mother Black Siren was killed in action years ago, and he didn’t want for his children the pain he and his siblings suffered. The Blackbird Clan and the Shadowwing Clan were originally one (similar to the Hyuuga and the Uchiha of Konoha in Naruto); until the latter decided to split themselves off into their own clan. There is a secret Society of Owls within the Blackbird Clan; a sect that originally sided against the main branch that chose to ally themselves with the Demon Crane, Onmoraki, and instead sided with the Demon Owl, Netchku. A small civil war ended with what was thought to be the demise of the Owl's Court, as the surviving members were spared and integrated into the clan. There are now sleeper cells within the Blackbird organization waiting for their opportunity for revenge.

    - Blackhawk’s design is based on Goh, The Crow from the video game, Shinobido.
    - Blackbird Clan: www.deviantart.com/nightshade4…

Clan Leaders: Catman (Katashi Nekojin) and Catwoman (Shiori Kawaii)

    Shinobi Clan: Catclan

Clan Members: Wildcat(former leader; deceased), Catwoman (formerly Nekomata; deceased), Wildcat II, Wildkitten, Mauler, Tigress, Cheshire, Steel Claw (now Red Claw; exiled), Catgirl, Puma, Tomcat, Civet, Steel Fang, Armless Shinobi, Lynx, Catsai, Alleycat, Cougar, Big Game, Grimalkin, Panara (exiled), Chama (exiled), Fennex (exiled), Catwalk (exiled), and Magaera (exiled), Byakko (exiled).

    Specialty: Acquisitions, infiltration, Taijutsu

Base of Operations: The Pridelands of the Meadows Plains

Demon Beast Affiliation: Kasha, The Demon Cat

The Catclan has mastered the art of stealth by studying the stalking nature of felines. Through this, they have become the premier acquisition experts of the shinobi world. The males, however, tend to focus their talents more toward brawling; again using the ferocity of large game cats as a foundation for their taijutsu style. Although Catclan members are taijutsu (hand to hand combat) specialists, they do employ the use of weapons. Most times it is to emulate the claws of their revered felines. This is done by using kunai or tiger claws. The Catclan is different from many of the other clans. Like lion prides, they have most of the work done by the females, while the males only come in after the hard work is done. This by no means insinuates inability on the part of the males, for they are fearsome fighters when in the field. Catclan members are distinguished by their ceremonial tattoos or ritual scarring; the same way the Houndsclan wear canine face masks and carry dual blades, and Blackbird clan wear jackets or trenchcoats. Catclan members have feline familiars that they care for and use in the field, when they operate as shinobi. The male clan members utilize large game cats to assist in their fighting, while the females use the smaller domesticated “house” cats to assist in their infiltration and acquisition assignments. They are also trained to engage in combat, just as the larger cats are also trained in stealing; it just isn’t their main focus. There are two offshoot groups that operate within the clan separate from their main focus: The Houndhunters and The Shashti no Sōhei; Sisters of the Nekomata Priesthood. The Houndhunters are an elite order within the Catclan designated with the task of using skills pilfered from the exiled Houndsclan (responsible for the loss of their patron Demon Beast), to track them down wherever they were hiding outside of the borders of the Hidden Regions…and assassinate them. While the Sisters of the Nekomata Priesthood (the Catclan’s equivalent to the Order of Inari ; Myōbu Clerics of the Houndsclan) were tasked with the preservation, restoration and distribution of the power of their patron; The Demon Cat, Kasha.

    - Catman’s design is based on Dosu Kinuta from Naruto and Catwoman’s is on a mix of Ayame from the video game, Tenchu: Stealth Assassins and Okoi from the anime Basilisk.

    Clan Leader: Batman (Komori Watanabe)

    Shinobi Clan: Batclan

Clan Members: Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Robin, Akifimi Takaharu, Huntress, Azrael, Hush, Redwing (now Red Hood; Exiled), Bluebird, Batwing, Batwoman, Lark

    Specialty: Protection,

Base of Operations: The Batcaves of Mt. Goth-Ahm

Demon Beast Affiliation: A-Komoriyasha, The Demon Bat

The Batclan was formed to fill the void left by the eradicated Shadowwing Clan, as the regions most foremost experts in the art of Protection. Batman has amassed members from each of the region’s noble clans after establishing itself within the Order. As a former member of the League of Shadows, an apprentice of a Ghostclan shinobi and a Yottsukonin Master, training an apprentice of his own who was the last surviving member of his decimated Noble clan, and an affiliation with a Demon Beast; Batman had enough legitimacy behind him when proposing his clan’s inclusion to the governance provided by the Shinobi Council. The Batclan has a mandate to protect all of the citizens of Goth-Ahm prefecture, but also extends to the whole of Hitoshirenu. The Batclan also assits, but is not officially recognized by the Shogunate. He maintains close ties to Kaitsuki’s (Batgirl) father, the former Captain of the Emperor's Royal Guard, Taichou Jin Gaikoku. After multiple attempts on the Emperor’s life from within his own court, the Emperor, Jin, and Batgirl hide amongst the populace of the commoners while Batman, Robin and Nightwing seek out the culprits behind it. It is here when the emperor sees the need to create an organization whose purpose is to protect and serve the citizens of Goth-Ahm. The corruption cleansed Royal Guard become more of a secret service contingent. The Emperor establishes the Machikata and names Jin, Machi Bugyō of Goth-Ahm Prefecture. The machi bugyō was a position in feudal Japan, who oversaw the police and fire departments. The police, or machikata, included the high-ranking yoriki and the dōshin below them; both were samurai. They also have full-time patrolmen; okappiki and ****appiki, who were commoners. When Batman disappears, from being flung into the far future by The Spectre, his clan members fight amongst themselves as to who will take his place as the new leader. Separate factions emerge which are all brought together upon his return.

    - Batman’s design is an upgraded version of the original MDCU design which was conceptualized by Deviantartist Effktdmentality aka RJ Sosongco.

    Onishusoku (The Demon's Head)

    Shinobi Clan: Assassin Clan (Proxy)

Clan Members: Joker, Ragdoll, Red Hood, Scarlet, Ragman, Cheshire, Tsuyomi Oni no Ko, Niisa Oni no Ko, White Ghost (Dusan Oni no Ko; deceased), Cain, Lady Shiva, Red Dart, Kyodai Ken, Obsidian Archer, Lady Vic, Hook, Silver Monkey, Silken Spider, Tiger Moth, Dragon Fly, White Willow, Iron Hand Li, Asano Nitobe, Maduvu, Razorburn, and Sportsmaster.

Specialty: High profile and Shinobi assassination

Base of Operations: The Floating Fortress

Demon Beast Affiliation: Tokageki, The Demon Crocodile

Onishusoku, the Demon's Head, created the League of Shadows; a vast network of shinobi (not bound to any particular clan) that can perform various levels of all of the different job classes in the Shinobi Order. When the job requires a level higher than the ninja under his banner, he usually brokers a deal for the client with the corresponding Specialist clan. The Shadows are what the individual entry level members of the League of Shadows are themselves, referred to as. Shadows have the ability to move up in the League and receive specialized training from their resident Yottsukonin master Han-Son; whom they refer to only as, Sensei. Only the most deadly earn the ability to graduate into the Assassins Class, which is represented in the Shinobi Council by Onishusoku. The assassin’s guild also accepts rogue or clanless shinobi into its ranks as members during its annual tryouts; a free for all, to the death brawl, where the survivors are inducted into the guild and trained to be an assassin. Clans that have an established reputation of multiple kills are granted license to waive in, and individuals are offered an opportunity to join if they seek it, by committing an assassination of extreme difficulty. Those who try and fail are killed on the spot. Wearing face masks and robes with long sleeves is customary of many of the high level assassin (Joker, Hush, Onishisoku, Cheshire, Ragdoll). Although the League has grown to become one of the largest networks of assassins in the world, that was not enough for him. Onishusoku decided to expand his network, in order to have a worldwide monopoly on the death trade. He tasked various high ranking members in the League with helping to establish the League’s presence outside of their borders. High profile assassins were recruited into the ranks of the League, while those who had the misfortune to refuse were eliminated. With his sphere of influence exponentially increased, Onishusoku has set his sights much higher than control over the Hidden Regions…to global domination.

Clan Leader: Poison Ivy (Tsutari Gaidoku)

    Shinobi Clan: Bloodroot

Clan Members: Aaimuzxi, Sumac, Black Orchid, Nightshade, Blackbriar, Sprout, Red Orchid, Honeysuckle, Nightbloom, Deadfall, The Sporelings: Rose, Thorn, and Hazel.

    Specialty: Nature manipulation, poison

Base of Operations: The Haunted Woods of the Shinobi Forest

Demon Beast Affiliation: Jubokko, the Vampire Tree

After becoming the plant hybrid warrior with the blood of hundreds of samurai and ninja now coursing through her body, the former farm girl now known as Poison Ivy was approached by a representative of The Parliament of Trees who informed her of her true purpose; she was by any means necessary, to allow for Jubokko, The Vampire Tree to grow strong enough to reclaim its sentience so that it could cast its vote alongside its peers as to how to reclaim dominance over the earth. She was told she would need to expand her ranks in order to facilitate this task. After replanting the revived Jubokko, Poison Ivy began to reestablish the dominion over the forest and the plant life that was now under her protection as well as that of Bloodroot. Any violators answered to her, and were fed to Jubokko. Jubokko began to slowly reestablish its root network throughout the forest, allowing Ivy the ability to "see" the happenings in the different parts of the forest. Bloodroot, The ecoterroist organization she formulated, created much havoc in its sector of the forest they had claimed as their own in their attempts to protect Jubokko, and self defense led to preemptive assaults which would begin to spill out into the neighboring provinces. To negotiate the avoidance of a full out war, Ivy agreed to call a cease to hostile activities if the sector of the forest that they had claimed for themselves was recognized as sovereign land and she were granted a seat at the Shinobi Council to ensure the continued protection of the forest. A shinobi horticultural geneticist, who specialized in developing and counteracting plant based poisons, and other herbal based medicines, joined her cause and assists in the expansion of Bloodroot; with the recovery the seeds from the Parliament thought lost to an earlier assault, and the development of The Sporelings; which are Ivy’s rapid aged human/plant hybrid children: Rose (who is pink) has Floronic telepathy, Thorn (who is green) has the ability to generate and utilize thorn whips, and Hazel (who is brown) possesses florakinesis; which manifests as witchlike abilities.

    - Poison Ivy’s design is based on Meer Campbell from Gundam: Seed.

Clan Leader: Grey Ghost (Yuurei Tendo)

    Shinobi Clan: Ghostclan (hidden)

Clan Members: Spectre, Phantom Lady, Phantasm, Reaper, Secret, Spook, Hearse, Demise, Graves, Grim, Green Ghoul, Terminal, Gaki, Ghast, Gruesome, Wraith, and Fright.

Specialty: Ghost arts, Forbidden Sealing jutsu,

Base of Operations: The Coventry Shinobi Graveyard

    Demon Beast Affiliation: None

Founded by the originator of The Ghost Arts of Ninjutsu, known as, The Spectre; the Ghostclan has no affiliation with any Demon Beast as it was The Spectre who imprisoned each of them with his ancient clan’s secret sealing techniques, into the terrain to end their rampage. He sought to reintegrate into the shinobi world, and eventually found three pupils to take under his tutelage and pass on the arts he had learned while in-between life and death. He trained the young Ghost, Apparition, and Phantom until they had become masters of the Ghost Arts themselves; evolving into Grey Ghost, Phantom Lady, and Phantasm. Spectre had left them prior to achieving this level and once they did they went their separate ways. Grey Ghost, however, remained a part of the shinobi world as a respected elder in the community. Eventually he sought to rebuild his Clan after being forced to take on two separate students by Onishsoku; Dusan Oni no Ko aka White Ghost and the mysterious clanless shinobi known as The Dark. After The Dark survived his ordeal being trapped in the caves of the Demon Bat, Grey Ghost took on the heirs of the remaining shinobi noble classes as his pupils and trained Wildcat, Black Canary and Question the Ghost Arts he had learned under the names, Bakaneko-kun, Yosuzume, and Nopera-bo. With an unexpected tragedy befalling their master, Grey Ghost’s pupils disband; ending their master’s attempt to revive his clan. They return to their respective clans, but their loyalty is tested when the shinobi, Reaper attempts to rebuild the Ghostclan; with rogue ninja, Spook and the Spectre’s hidden kunoichi apprentice, Secret. Grey Ghost returns to the land of the living, after having utilized the same technique his master had to save his own life long ago. The three factions of the Ghostclan converge and battle it out to see who will maintain dominance. Grey Ghost will resume leadership of the Ghostclan until The Spectre returns to reclaim it. However, upon his return, he will refuse to take back the title and play a mentoring role. Eventually the clan will expand even further with new recruits.

    - Grey Ghost’s design has elements of a fanart Jounin Naruto and my original concepts inspired by the animated series version of the character.

This time, I wanted to show the team as they appeared upon first returning home to the Goth-Ahm Prefecture in Hitoshirenu, The Hidden Regions of Japan; Returning approximately two years after their respective departures, where Nightwing was training with the Samurai Monks of Bloodhaven Monastery, Robin had volunteered to take Nightwing’s place as Red Hood’s replacement with the Red Hand, and Batgirl took a break from her shinobi training and began to focus on data collection with the Oracle of Hi no Tama. All three young shinobi were returning home just as their master was rampaging throughout the region, after losing control to the demon within; Since they were just arriving, I decided to show them all in their travel gear. I also happened to come across my initial concept sketch for Nightwing after the two year timeskip and I realized that I had originally drawn him with a ponytail, similar to one of Dick Grayson’s secondary Nightwing designs by Tom Grummet. I decided to add it in and as far as the story goes, he had it when he returned and shortly after reforming the Clan, decided to cut it off.

    - The cloak Nightwing is wearing is partially from a Project:Rooftop redesign, mixed with Sasuke’s look in Naruto: The Last, The Movie. His insignia is on the hood as well.

    - Nightwing was initially very solitary, angry, and impulsive. His time at the monastery has mellowed him out quite a bit.

    - In conjunction with his time in the clan and the Teen Titans, his training at Bloodhaven has further solidified his appreciation of organizational structures. He is more in tune with the concept of taking orders and the chain of command, as he wishes to ultimately be followed when he is the one giving the orders. He has become more reliant on his abilities as well as his capabilities to conceive and carry out the best execution of neutralizing threats. Only now, he has learned to incorporate others in that execution.

    - The cloak Batgirl is wearing is from a fanart depiction of an adult Sarada Uchiha, from Boruto.

    - While the other two were out of the prefecture, Batgirl participated in the provincewide Chunin Exams, alongside; Question, Wildcat, Black Canary II, Azrael, Huntress, and Hush.

    - Out of this group, Question, Wildcat, Azrael, Huntress, and Hush will achieve the rank of Jounin by the time of the ReFormation; with Question and Wildcat eventually taking over as leader of their respective Clans.

    - This is my first time depicting Batman after merging with the Demon Bat. I wanted it to resemble Naruto as a jinchurriki, being overtaken by the chakra of the Nine Tailed Fox.

    - Demon Batman image is taken from a design I saw online. The original was all grey with a red bat and wings (cape). I plan on using that design for my version of Batman Beyond, as Teruhi Miyagawa (Terry McGuinness) is the current avatar and host of the Demon Bat in his time period.

    - Prior to crafting her own Onimen (Demon Mask), Batwoman will have a similar transformation. The onimen will allow her to have a more controlled transformation that she can utilize. It will evoke the look of the animated, Mystery of the Batwoman film.

    - The demonic chakra rising off of Komori converts into the small energy bats that that surround him, which he can control and utilize in an attack, which can consist of physical, ninjutsu, or genjutsu.

    - The Demon Bat’s chakra allows for Komori to acquire an elemental attunement to the Shadow Element to incorporate into Ninjutsu techniques.

    - As Tomi was just returning, I decided to put him in his Red Robin gear. I added his signature goggles so it would be easier to identify him. I also wanted him to maintain a visual connection to his past, despite his changes, besides his Clan Medalion; which he used to help keep him grounded while imbedded within the Red Hand, and also to show that, deep down he was still the same. I'm considering having him lose the goggles in the confrontation with their Sensei for similar reasons; that even though he is back and kept true to himself, he did undergo quite a bit that will fundamentally alter how he perceives and goes about things going forward.

    - Didn’t want to leave Akifimi out, and designed a travel outfit for him as well. I tried to find something that samurai would wear when they would travel, and my research lead me to the Sohei, or Traveling Samurai. I refrained from giving him a full complement of samurai armor as he is still restricted from wielding the weapons and accoutrements of the Samurai. I also had him place his arms through the sleeves of his kimono top, that he normally wears draped to his sides. As you can see it is similar to Nightwing’s, signifying it is the common outfit worn by the Monks of Bloodhaven; Nightwing chose to alter his, as he always wishes to represent his fallen clan as its last remaining (legitimized; as Redwing renounced his clan, prior to its decimation and subsequently became The Red Hood) member.

The Order of Shinobi has different clans to cover various types of jobs. The Noble Clans all specialize in one of these job classes specifically, and are experts at it:

    Batclan Specialty: Protection

Demon Beast Affiliation: A-Komoriyasha, The Demon Bat

    Batwoman: Kyashii Satōkibi (Kathy Kane)

    Shinobi Rank: Jounin

    Nightwing: Daisuke Kagehane (Dick Greyson)

    Shinobi Rank: Genin (Chuunin/Jounin level)

    Batgirl: Kaitsuki Gaikoku (Barbara Gordon)

    Shinobi Rank: Chuunin

    Batman: Komori Watanabe (Bruce Wayne)

Shinobi Rank: Kuran no Shuhanin (Clan Leader); Jounin Sensei

Red Robin: Daimyomaru Watanabe (Damian Wayne)

    Shinobi Rank: Jounin

    Robin: Tomi Komodori (Tim Drake)

    Shinobi Rank: Genin (Chuunin/Jounin level)

    Akifimi Takaharu (Alfred Pennyworth):

    Samurai Rank: Hatamoto

This time, I wanted to show the team as they appeared upon Batman’s returning home to the Goth-Ahm Prefecture in Hitoshirenu, The Hidden Regions of Japan; after having been flung years into the future by the Ghost Arts Master known as The Spectre, to embark on the KnightsQuest where he would meet his successor Teruhi Miyagawa; Batman Beyond and the Batclan of the future. These events were directly preceded by the KnghtFall event; where a broken Batman physically merged with A-Komoriyasha, as his clan had seemingly disbanded with Nightwing training with the Samurai Monks of Bloodhaven Monastery, Robin volunteering to take Nightwing’s place as Red Hood’s replacement with the Red Hand, and Batgirl taking a break from her shinobi activities and focusing on data collection with The Reikon and the Oracle of Hi no Tama.

    - This shows Batwoman before acquiring her Onimen Mask to help her focus the Demon Bat energies inside of her after becoming the host to A-Komoriyasha after Spectre separated it from Batman, to save its life.

    - The Bat-ear headdress that Kyashii wears is a Satōkibi Clan device which allows her to receive a sonar signal, which creates an echolocation framework that allows her to “see” in complete darkness. Her clan’s long standing affiliation with the Demon Bat generated many ninja tools and devices associated with bats. It is very similar to the one that Batgirl crafted herself, upon her decision to seek out Batman as a sensei…leading me to wonder if Kaitsuki has other ties to the Satōkibi Clan.

    - Red Robin has a weapon that converts from a ¾ staff, to two individual swords, to a dual bladed staff.

    - Daimyomaru only took the Red Robin identity because his father would not allow him to operate under the identity he arrived with; Batboy. Tomi’s abandoned Red Hand identity seemed an apt compromise with all parties involved, as that was already associated with a history of extreme violence.

    - Daimyomaru reclaimed his Batboy identity when his father vanished, as he figured it was time to assume his father’s role in the clan, as leader. He resumes being Red Robin upon his father’s return…until his unfortunate demise.

    - Tomi reclaims the Red Robin moniker after Daimyomaru’s death.

This time, I wanted to show the team as they appeared during and after the death of Daimyomaru Watanabe. He was returned to life utilizing the restorative properties of the Iwa Naga Springs in his grandfather’s (Onishusoku, The Demon’s Head) care. Tomi took Daimyomaru’s passing hard, and reverted to his Red Robin identity. Batman took it even harder and sunk into a depression where he didn’t leave the Watanabe estate. With the absence of Batman, an uprising sprung up in the name of the young Son of the Bat, in honor of his sacrifice and young shinobi all over the prefecture began rioting while wearing outfits inspired by Robin. The We Are Robin movement led to the Robin War, between rival gangs of these youngsters, and raged for weeks, affecting all facets of life in Goth Ahm. When The Batclan members all agreed to defy the direct order of their sensei and seek out the culprit behind Daimyomaru’s untimely demise as well as the components necessary for his revival, they decide to honor his memory, and all wear variations of his costume while doing it. They complete their mission, with assistance from the timely arrival of the Batman, and are overjoyed at the Son of the Bat’s rebirth. These events were directly preceded by the KnightsEnd event.

    - This storyline combines elements of We Are Robin, Robin War, Robin Rises, and DC Rebirth.

    - The character of Lark (Duke Thomas) was one of the rival shinobi gang leaders in the Robin War. He was instrumental in helping to end the violence, as well as collect one of the components necessary for the Rebirth. After Disbanding the Robin gangs, he will come under the direct tutelage of Batwoman in her separate Batclan.

    - Her clan will include; Batwing (Luke Fox), Batgirl IV (Tiffany Fox), and Lark. Eventually they will merge with the rest of the Main Clan, along with newcomer, Bluebird (Harper Row), and a resurfaced Spoiler (Stephanie Brown).

    - I chose to go with Duke’s Lark identity, rather than his current one of The Signal, as I personally prefer it better. It has more of a conncetion to the Robin Sidekick position, as it is still a type of bird.

    - Daimyomaru will choose to go by Robin, after seeing how much honor was brought to the moniker by his clansmen in his name.

    - Batwoman was instrumental in the Rebirth process as well, and as a result of that, Robin is now the custodian of the unexpected offspring of A-Komoriyasha; a (relatively) smaller red-hued baby Demon Bat, named Go-Raiyasha (Goliath).

    - Red Hood’s costume incorporates elements of his Year of the Villain design.

    - Decided to show Nightwing with his signature Escrima batons.

    - Batgirl’s new costume is inspired by her Batman: White Knight design.

    - Batman has elements of his DC Rebirth design incorporated.

    - Robin has elements of his Son of Batman animated movie design.

    - Red Robin’s costume incorporates elements of his DC Rebirth design. I also decided to show him with his signature Bo staff.

Thought it was time for a clearer version of the updated design for The Dark Knight Shinobi that I presented in The Batclan 3. nightshade475.deviantart.com/a…

    Left to right:
Batman (with A-Komouriyasha Onimen), Batman, and Komori Watanabe (Secret Identity).

As previously stated, the original design for the Manga version of Batman came from the mind of fellow Deviantartist, Effektdmentality aka R.J. Sosongco. effektdmentality.deviantart.co… The only thing that I had initially changed from his version was tucking his samurai hakama pants into ninja style boots. I wanted to ad my own touches to the design and drawing from the story that I was working on at the time, I had him take elements of his apprentices wardrobe attempts at emulating the Shadow of The Bat; Robin’s cloak, Nightwing’s samurai armor, and Batgirl’s utility belt. Incorporating a more personal connection to his students and at the same time making him more resemble the mainstream version, without losing the elements that I admired so much. I also felt it was time to add in to the design the iconic bat inspired mask, and crafted a storyline where it would be suitable:

After having been separated from the Demon Bat, A-Komouriyasha, following the events of the Knight’sFall, Batman retained some of the essence of the demon within him. He discovered this during his time in the future (Knight’sQuest), where he had been sent by the Ghost Arts Shinobi master, The Spectre. Upon his return to his era, he discovered his clan in disarray as they all vied for the position of leadership. He had also discovered a powerful kunoichi who had tried to take over the clan in Batwoman (Kyashii Satokibi), the new host of A-Komouriyasha. She saved the life of the demon bat by allowing it to reside within her while it healed. Once the demon Bat regains its strength, it begins to take over Kyashii's body. After the emergence of the Kamen no Shikai (Society of Falsefied Faces), The Batclan deduce that by constructing an Onimen; demon mask for her, she'll be able to control the demon raging inside her. They go about figuring out the means of how to contsruct one, and acquiring the materials and manpower to do it. Zatanna (and/ or Zatarra) will be one of the people involved in this mission. Information form Kyashii's clan, having knowledge of lost arts, helped complete the construction of the demon mask; which helped her from being taken over by the powerful spirit within her as Batman had, and focus its tremendous power. When confronting the Onimen empowered Kamen no Shikai, Batman realized that the Batclan needed some assistance to defeat the cult. He reached out to Batwoman, who helped him in the craft of forging his own Onimen linked to the Demon Bat, allowing him to tap into the residual energy inside of him while he wore it. Using it sparingly, he now has a new powerful weapon in the war to protect the prefecture of Goth-Ahm, and anywhere else it is needed.

    - to the far right I have the different concepts I had in mind for coloring his new gauntlets.
    - The abilities that the mask gives Batman are similar to those shown in the animated short: Batman of Shanghai.
    - If he wears the mask for too long of a period, the demonic energy starts to overtake him.
    - His strength and speed is increased, but not to a ridiculous degree.
    - I was inspired by Naruto Anbu masks and the old Adam West version.
    - Similar to the members of The Houndclan, who have enhanced abilities due to the blood of Yaimanu, The Demon Dog flowing through them; I have Batman’s hair white when he is tapping into the power of the demon beast. nightshade475.deviantart.com/a…

    Two-Face:

    Real name: Oiwa/ (Hekomi)

    Group Affiliation: Yakuza, former Genshunin

    Abilities:

(Design based on Basilisk character, Akeginu)

A shy young girl named Hekomi, and her older sister, Yūbiko met up with a band of children when circumstances led to them living on the streets. Their mother had suffered an unexpected shock, and died of heartbreak, after receiving notice that her husband…their father, had died in a military campaign in service to the emperor. Yūbiko was very protective of Hekomi. One day, armed raiders came to the children’s lair to kidnap and sell the children into slavery. A young boy who had recently joined their group, and had become close to Hekomi, fought hard; but it was not enough to stop the two sisters from being taken. The raiders used their swords to kill the remaining children, leaving the boy for dead. The girls were sold to the Yakuza and trained to become, Oiran. After their training was complete they were placed in a house, where they would be required to entertain the patrons paying for their unique services. Some sought to avail themselves of being waited on by the young courtesans or entertained with their singing, dancing, and musical talents, but many wished to avail themselves of their more physical talents; but to protect her younger sister, the older Yūbiko freely gave herself to the men looking to abuse her sibling. They would agree, as she had honed her seductive abilities and had quickly become quite accomplished in the arts of pleasure…but Hekomi was always forced to watch. This went on for years until one man decided he still desired the younger sister, after having had his way with the elder. Yūbiko pleaded with him, but he was unrelenting and just pushed her aside. Yūbiko attacked the man, and he stabbed her repeatedly in front of Hekomi. She bled out while unable to do anything but watch as he violently forced himself on the sister she had protected for so long, dying as they stared each other in the eye. He then drugged the traumatized Hekomi and took her with him. She awoke, restrained to a table in a tattoo parlor completely nude. He told her that he had purchased her from her previous establishment and had decided to rename her, “Oiwa”. He had her tattooed on the entire right side of her body (including her face) in honor to the goddess of the dead, Izanami. It was done in one long marathon session, with no pain relief or breaks. She was unable to see anything that was done until it was completed. Upon sight of what had been done to her, the collective trauma she had experienced of the recent events and of those over the years drove Oiwa into a psychotic break. She went into a hysterical frenzy, repeatedly stabbing the artists who had worked on her with their own tattoo needles, until she was knocked out by the Yakuza thugs who had transported her there. She awoke chained to a bed in a luxurious bedroom, where her captor’s associates were free to use her for whatever physical gratification, abuse…or humiliation they so desired. This went on for some time, but throughout it, she remained catatonic; eventually emerging from that state…with a fractured psyche. She now had two distinct personalities: One was based on her demure and innocent younger self, and the other based on everything she had ever seen her sister do as an oiran. She seduced the yakuza boss into releasing her from bondage, and then continuing that seduction until she could place him in the binds that previously held her. She then killed him, slowly…and brutally. She then took over his gang and territory. She then began to expand her criminal empire. Those she was unable to seduce, she killed. She became known for an ornate folding fan she carries; when making a decision, she would flip it into the air, then open it to the image of either yin or yang…dictating her next actions, good or bad. She also uses the fan as a weapon. Upon becoming aware of a new player in the criminal Underworld, The Batman confronts her; and as she attempts to seduce him, he realizes who she is and stops her by using her real name…infuriating her. After a brief battle, Komori decides the best place for her is Arkham Island for her to try and heal, while keeping her from harming others. While there, she is recruited into an escape plan that includes revenge on the Batman.

    Master Freeze:

    Real Name: Kōru
Group Affiliation: Solo; former Sword of Sommersa apprentice

Abilities: Attunement to the Ice Element; Mys-tech Gelömagarde, ice amplification device, intellectually advanced

(Design based on Marvel Comics’ Hiro Kala)

Chosen by the Council of Elders to be the new apprentice to the new Sword of Sommersa, Icemistress; Freeze harbours an allegiance to Minister Blizzard and the Council, placed above his loyalty to his kingdom and his Master, The Sword. He was chosen to be apprentice so that the Council could regain control over the sword once again; as Frost’s chosen apprentice, Koriotome came from a class of privilege, which allowed for her to maintain a level of independence they were unused to. Kōru however, had his own sinister agenda. Freeze was a part of a faction that exists in Sommersa who believe that there is still unexplored elements of science that are rejected in their community…namely sorcery. While Sommersa was the kingdom’s scientific enclave, the Holy City of Shindagha was its concentration of religious and mystical practices. The combination of the mystical with the scientific came across as an abomination to either faction, so a group who theorized a combination were possible, kept quiet and practiced developing their art and research in secret. Ailanöra was a young devotee in the pursuits of what has been come to be known in other circles as Mys-tech; the combination of science and sorcery. However, her experimentation alongside her partner, Kōru ended up with her in a constant state of stasis to protect herself and those around her. He knew he needed powerful magic to rectify her status and restore her, so he did what was necessary to become the prime candidate for the apprentice to The Sword and plotted with Barron Blizzard, who persuaded Icemaiden to take Freeze as apprentice for the good of the empire. He fought valiantly alongside the other Seven Sea Samurai during the Missing Master Quest, and after the final confrontation with the culprit responsible for the Swords’ disappearance, Ocean Master; he returned home to Sommersa. As the quest concluded, Koriotome relinquished The Sword, and the rescued Kanki aka Killer Frost found herself with a new apprentice. After some time as her trainee, Freeze takes advantage of a rare moment of weakness and steals the Sword of Sommersa from his master Killer Frost, and imprisons her. He goes off to a secret base in Hitoshirenu, where he uses Mys-Tech to craft a device called, The Gelömagarde; which infuse the mystic elemental energies of the Sword into his own body and amplify them. The other 7 Sea Samurai were alerted to his actions once ice started to creep into each of the kingdoms, overtaking them. Seeing the threat he posed, they decide to intervene. The Samurai and their apprentices arrived at the location, and a battle ensued. The amplified Iceweaving abilities of Freeze proved to be too much, even for the combined might of the Swordsmen. Claiming to be the greatest weaver of all time, he now demanded to henceforth be referred to as; Master Freeze! He captured the swordsmen in an icetrap that they only survive due to the combined skills of Siren of Su’ Phalla and Dolphin of Shindagha, however they remain trapped. Master Freeze returned to Sommersa to retrieve his beloved, Ailanöra, to attempt to revive her to have her by his side as he begins his conquest of the world, by freezing it to make her new empire. His first target: The Goth-Ahm prefecture. As he begins to freeze everything, he is confronted by The Batclan shinobi. They are able to find & destroy his amplification machine, which stops the ice progression (freeing the Swords), and saves Goth-Ahm. When the Swords arrive, Killer Frost reclaims her sword and they all unite to enact an ancient rite to banish him from all undersea kingdoms; by taking his ability to breathe underwater. He is forever to be separated from his love, since he can no longer live underwater. He retains powerful, but crude ice generating abilities; unable to access the intricate iceweaving skills he possesed as weilder of The Sword. Unable to return undersea to face further justice, the Swords agree to allow Batman to have him face his crimes on the surface by imprisoning him on Arkham Island.

    Riddler:

    Real Name: Eido Nazo
    Group Affiliation: Enigma Clan

    Abilities: Deception, confusion, genjutsu

(Design based on “The Batman” animated version)

When a feudal lord of the Goth-ahm prefecture neglected to pay the fee to the Enigma Clan for completed services, the clan leader, Riddler decided to make him pay another way. He manufactured a meeting of all of the neighboring feudal lords and when they were all in one place, laced the place with hidden explosives. With no one was offering to pay to stop Riddler, there was also no one was stepping up to stop him…until Batman decided to intervene. The Batclan had recently decided to take the eradicated Shadow Wing Clan’s spot in the Shinobi Order as premier ninja protectors, except without charging a fee (since Komori Watanabe was independently wealthy). Batman located the hidden devices and freed the lords. This infuriated Riddler. He then made another seemingly random attack within the province, which was but a distraction to another mission. Batman figured out what that was and stopped that from happening as well. An enraged Riddler became obsessed with trying to figure out a way to outsmart Batman, always with the lives of innocents in the mix. Riddler’s eldest son, Cluemaster; who could never gain his father’s favor, joined him in his quest to take down the Shadow of the Bat. It was to no avail. Eventually, the two shinobi clan leaders faced each other in battle. After seeing how mad he had become, Batman transported Riddler to Arkham Island. It was there that he came up with the escape plan, and began to recruit accomplices.

    Catwoman: Real Name: Shiori Kawaii
    Group Affiliation: Catclan

    Abilities: Acquisitions, infiltration, taijutsu

(Design based on Basilisk character Okoi)

Shiori was a gifted catclan kunoichi, skilled in all of the arts of acquisitions, infiltration, and taijutsu. She operated under the name, Kitkaa, up until she was inducted as co-leader of the clan as Catwoman when she married current leader; Catman, Katashi Nekojin. This marriage quickly became one in name only when it came to her interaction with Katashi romantically. After years of neglect, she sought out the attention of others, the overwhelming majority of which were afraid to return, for fear of retribution from her very possive and jealous husband. Batman was one who was unafraid, but despite his strong attraction to her, he honored her status as a married woman. His chivalry made her seek his attention that much more, and she began to commit thefts just to continue their “cat and mouse” game of chase. By the same token, Shiori enjoyed testing her skills by breaking into seemingly impenetrable strongholds, just to prove that she could. Katashi never challenged her as far as that was concerned, as it only helped to advertise their clan’s infiltration and acquisitions capabilities. She went too far when she decided to infiltrate the Imperial Palace and steal the feudal lord’s crown jewel, the Eye of Bast. Batman helped to retrieve the stolen item, but for the crime of humiliating the Feudal Lord, she was sentenced to the harsh punishment of being banished to Arkham Island.

Red Hood: Real Name: Jotaro Kagehane

Group Affiliation: Solo; former: Shadowwing Clan, Batclan, Assassin Clan, Red Hand, All Caste

    Abilities: Stealth, assasination, kenjutsu, taijutsu

(Design based on Naruto Character, Itachi Uchiha)

Jotaro Kagehane was born into the prestigious Shadowwing Clan. As Redwing, he was one of the most skilled shinobi the clan ever produced; advancing further than most, in much less time. His skill however, led to him being unruly and difficult to rein in and keep in line. The Batman was persuaded by Onishusoku, The Demon’s Head, to take him on as an apprentice. He owed the League of Shadows leader for facilitating his apprenticeship under the legendary shinobi, Grey Ghost, and this was the way for him to repay that debt. Despite his attempts to train him, Redwing was headstrong, insubordinate, and prone to losing control. In following his own rules, he wound up in a trap set by the Assassin Class shinobi Joker, and held for ransom. Jotaro attempted to escape, and hurt his captor in the process. As a result of injuring him, Joker threatened to eradicate his entire clan. The deadline passed and the ransom demand was not met by Jotaro’s clan. Batman arrived just in time to witness Redwing’s death and Joker’s escape. A week later, the entire Shadowwing Clan was wiped out, except for Jotaro’s younger brother, Nightwing. Year later, Nightwing would be taken on as an apprentice of the Batman, and he would cross paths with the shinobi sensei of team of assassins calling himself, The Red Hood. After returning home from their time forming the Teen Titans after their Sensei’s banishment for needing to learn responsibility and how to get along; Nightwing find out that hi sensei has been kidnapped. He tracks down the Red Hood, and battles past his apprentices Azrael, Huntress, and Hush to get to him. When he does, Red Hood reveals that he is Nightwing’s older brother, Jotaro, Batman’s first apprentice. Jotaro wanted revenge on the Batman for leaving him for dead and at the Joker’s (lack of) mercy. He alibied Joker for the Shadowwing massacre, as he took responsibility for taking out his own clan members; feeling they abandoned him when he was sent to apprentice for Batman, and none of them made any attempt to pay his ransom when he was taken by Joker, or avenge him…except for Daisuke, who was too young to do anything. Nightwing changes his vow to avenge the brother he thought he lost, to taking out vengeance on him. During their fight, Batman frees himself and prevents Red Hood from killing Nightwing. Now aware of the Red Hood's true identity, Batman decides to neutralize him as a threat without taking his life, and drops him on Arkham Island.

    Poison Ivy:

    Real Name: Tsutari Gaidoku

    Group Affiliation: Bloodroot

Abilities: bonded to vampiric tree, Jubokko; flora manipulation, plant creature creation, poison kiss
(design based on Meer Campbell of Gundam: Seed Destiny)

Tsutari grew up on a farm with her family on the outskirts of Goth-Ahm Prefecture. She witnessed their slaughter at the hands of bandits, who chased her into The Shinobi Forest, where she sought refuge from her pursuers in the Haunted Woods sector. It was here that she was transformed into the half plant hybrid warrior, Poison Ivy; and where she would begin her crusade to purge and protect The Green from the scourge that is humanity. Tasked with the nurturement and protection of Jubokko, The Vampire Tree, Poison Ivy began to reestablish the dominion over the forest and the plant life that was now under her protection as well as that of Aaimuzxi, The Cactus Demon. Any violators answered to her, and those who were unrepentant were fed to Jubokko. Jubokko began to slowly reestablish its root network throughout the forest, allowing Ivy the ability to "see" the happenings in the different parts of the forest. She would come into confrontation with The Batman when the Daimyo ordered some trees cut down to make weapons of war for and impending confrontation. Some of the Daimyo’s officials would try to warn him of the peril of offending the forest spirit, but he would not have his will deterred. She dealt with the first expedition by seducing the ranking officer with her pheromone kiss, into ceasing all actions. This was only temporary, as when word got back, he was stripped of his command and the process recommenced. She then began to attack the loggers with her flora manipulation and plant creature creation, hoping to scare them off. When that didn’t work, she attempted to tackle the problem head on, and attempted to assassinate the Daimyo herself. She came close, but Batman’s intervention (alongside the samurai Royal Guard, led by Jin Gaikoku), led to her having to retreat back to the forest. She then decided she had no other recourse but to take out ALL of the humans in the prefecture, by releasing deadly spores. Realizing how serious a threat she was after stopping her plot, Batman decides to transport her to Arkham Island, for everyone’s safety…including her own.

    Killer Croc:

    Real Name: Wani Kurokaido
Group Affiliation: Demon Beasts of Goth-Ahm

Abilities: Merged with the legendary demon beast, Tokageki, the Demon Crocodile; control over alligators,

(Design based on Ninja Scroll character, Tessai)

Long ago, two demon beasts faced each other, and the battle raged for weeks. Eventually, one demon fell victim to the other. As its body plunged into what would become known as the Miller’s Harbor, Wani Kurokaido, an unsuspecting fisherman capsized into the water with the resulting wave that came with it. After resurfacing, Wani slowly became overcome by the essence of Tokageki, the Demon Crocodile; both spiritually and physically, as leaked blood from its corpse had washed over him, after it fell in battle to the legendary Demon Bat; A-Komoriyasha. The demon within compelled the fisherman to devour victims; fuelling its slow return to its former status. The villagers near the river that fed into the harbor named the creature, Killer Croc. Years later, Croc would also eventually develop an unyielding urge to kill the avatar of the demon bat; The Batman, after crossing paths with him. Batman was pursuing a crew of bandits who had been targeting villagers who lived near the river. They sought to escape over the water; beliving the legends of it being haunted would cause him to give up the chase… it did not. When one was yanked into the waters, they tried to turn back begging for the capture they once sought to escape. Batman attempted to rescue them as they were picked off, one by one. He was able to wrestle back the last one from the monster’s clutches when it was struck with familiarty from the Dark Knight. Realizing its connection to the creature that had killed it in its previous form, Killer Croc experienced a sense of dred alongside an even more powerful murderous compulsion of revenge. The Demon Crocodile’s host tried to devour Batman, but he was able to utilize his shinobi skills to get to the safety of dry land. However Croc followed him. They fought, but Croc cleary overpowered him. Batman decided it was one of those times where he could use some assistance, and used his medallion to summon A-Komoriyasha. Seeing the Demon Bat in its full sate, Croc was terrified and enraged. However, the Demon Bat decided he would not step in, and instead wished to see the outcome of this rematch with the avatars. He told the astonished Batman, that if he could not hold his own against the creature that he himself had already bested then, he perhaps wasn’t worthy of the title; Shadow of the Bat. The two reengaged in battle, and although Croc was more powerful and deadly, Batman was able to use his skills to outsmart and best him in battle. The proud Demon Bat offered to devour Croc, but was amenable when Batman suggested he take him to Arkham Island as an alternative.

    - The Oiran is a class that exhibits the courtesan skills of the Geisha, as well as the sexual favors of the Yujo in Japan.
    - The Tale of Oiwa is a Japanese folktale of an abused woman who is disfigured and comes back to haunt her tormentor.

    - Two-Face’s role in the Yakuza, in addition to claiming the position of Oyabun of her area, is that of Yurita; in which she has established control of all of the Oiran and Yujo (street prostitutes) in Goth-Ahm Prefecture. She is similar in power structure to The Widow in, Into the Badlands.

    - After surviving the assassination attempt of the ninja that killed his parents and subsequently taken in by disgraced samurai, Akifimi Takaharu; Frustration with his training, led to young noble, Komori Watanabe leaving the dojo and taking to the streets. He was the young boy who had joined with their group of genshunin and became close friends with Hekomi, fighting to keep her from being taken.

    - The Genshunin are a network of orphaned minors who live on the streets and in the sewer and operate as pickpockets, purse-snatchers, cutthroats, and street hustlers. They report to, Kokuo no Gesuidou; The Sewer King. Children are required to gain permission from him to operate on the streets, and submit a portion of their earnings to him.

    - I’ve added some elements to Two-Face’s outfit, including the two-tone neck choker ribbon, and the one around the obi of her kimono. I also added the wrist gauntlets and changed the color of the stocking on her tattooed side. I also made her lipstick two-toned.

    - When Freeze activated the Gelömagarde his eyes took on the deep dark blue of one who had fully embraced the Heart of Ice philosophy required to master the Sword of Sommersa, however, after losing any chance to ever to be with Ailanöra, he was so filled with emotions of love, loss, rage, and hate…that his eyes now emit a deep red hue.

    - I have another design in mind for Master Freeze which will utilize elements of his Dark Knights Metal design and sword.

    - Riddler might possibly have another secret child younger than Question who will be based on the Teen Titans, GO! comic character, Kwiz Kid.

    - Catwoman took on the alias of Miss Kitka in the original Adam West Batman film. I decided she would need to be called omething before acquiring the title of Catwoman, and went with that. It is an abriviation of Kit(ty) Kat, which I didn’t want to use for obvious reasons.

    - Each of the escapees has a specific skill that is necessary to facilitate their escape from the seemingly inescapable island…even though Joker has escaped before.

    - Red Hood lied to Nightwing initially about being responsible for their clan’s murder as he had intentions for him to take his place in The Red Hand, and he needed him to be harder; as well as not think the group was responsible and attempt to take them on himself…and die as a result.

    - It is after the Escape from Arkham that he returns to the Batcaves to reveal his intentions to have Nightwing take his place in the Red Hand. But before he can, Batman shares what his detective work had uncovered; Red Hood was NOT responsible for the Shadowwing Clan massacre. Red Hood proceeds to reveal that it was in fact the work of the Red Hand itself.

    - This news puts Daisuke in the mental state Jotaro was attempting to avoid, which now had him fearful of his capability to survive his tenure with the organization. When Robin steps up to take his place, he only hesitates ever so briefly before accepting him as a suitable replacement.

    - Once freed from his obligations to The Red Hand, Red Hood seeks out a path of redemption, and travels within and outside of the boarders of Hitoshirenu. It is on this mission that he saves and begins to train with the unstable victim of the Kamen no Shikai member Professor Pyg, the kunoichi, Crimson.

    - Ivy is torn in her feelings towards Batman. She hates him for impeding her cause, as well as rejecting her physically…but she also admires that he is strong enough to resist her wiles.

    - Batman’s mental training under Yoru-Senei, Kirigi-Sensei, and Zatara has granted him the strength to resist Ivy’s pheromones, but he is still succeptible to her toxic kiss.

    - When exposed to her toxic kiss, Batman was on the verge of death, until Catwoman was able to discretly provide the ingredients for an antitoxin. Ivy was in disbelief at his recovery, and unaware of how he was able to survive. She just attributed it to the same strength that she believed allowed for him to resist her mind control; that he was the Shadow of The Bat.

    - It is after the Escape from Arkham that Ivy begins to establish Bloodroot.

    - Killer Croc acquires a companion who is also demon in the form of a young female child named, Kawa-akago. She cries by the riverbank until she is assisted by good Samaritans, and then drowns them. Croc observed this for a while before approaching her. When he did, she tried to drown him, and although she was initially frustrated by her inability to do so, she found herself enamored by the idea that her demonic compulsion to drown anyone that got too close to her would no longer be able to keep her living her lonely existence.

    - Although they were part of the original picture, I didn’t have room to fit Phantasm and Joker. I will do another follow up which will include them, as well as; Scarecrow, Bane, Harley Quinn, and Anarky.

MangaDCU: Goth-Ahm Shinobi- Cat Clan by Nightshade475
    [IMG]
I felt it was time to start focusing on the individual Clans of the Shinobi World that The Batclan inhabits!
    Left to right:
Red Claw, Cheshire, Catman, Catwoman, Wildcat, Tigress, and Lynx.

    Gotham Ninja Folder: nightshade475.deviantart.com/g…

The Order of Shinobi has different clans to cover various types of jobs. The Noble Clans all specialize in one of these job classes specifically, and are experts at it:
Catclan Speciality: Acquisitions, infiltration, stealth, taijutsu.
Demon Beast Affiliation: Kasha, The Demon Cat

Red Claw: Amba Kadiri (Former Clan Leader; Exiled); Red Hand

A former member of the Noble shinobi Catclan, the woman known as Red Claw was banished for killing Catman's mother in order to facilitate getting close to his father and attempting to take over the clan for herself. When her deeds were discovered, she was ousted from the clan and marked for death. She was able to escape her fate, but was now a fugitive. While on the run from her former clan, she became a member of the clandestine organization, The Red Hand. She faked her death and eventually took control of the group. The former leader, the Red Queen, left the group abruptly to parts unknown, but the other members have no idea why due to the group’s inherent secrecy. During the two year period, when Robin and Nightwing had left Goth’Ahm Prefecture, one of the Red Hand’s missions puts her at odds with the current Catwoman; Shiori Kawaii. She allows the altercation to become personal and goes off mission trying to destroy her. The mission involved collecting a group of former samurai that all had a connection to the Bloodhaven Monestary, one of whom was Takaharu Akifimi, Batman's trainer and friend; in order to locate and unleash an ancient weapon known only as, Multigon. Batman gets involved after discovering Takaharu’s disappearance, and set about trying to locate him. When Batman tracks him down to Red Claw’s lair, she confronts him. She offers him an opportunity to join her by revealing that she wishes to be a catalyst for change in their world and the one beyond their borders. The release of Multigon will speed up that change she believes. When the Dark Knight rejects her offer, they engage in battle until he gets the upper hand on her, but he is stopped from delivering the knockout blow by his former pupil…Robin. Red Claw referred to his pupil as, Red Robin, and was ready to dispatch him, thinking that he’d sided with his former master, but he drew her attention to the fact that he was able to fulfill the parameters of the mission by releasing Multigon; he was able to prevent the cataclysm Red Claw was expecting by urging the demigod to reevaluate its preordained path of destruction by convincing it that to someone as powerful as he was, destiny was nothing more than slavery. Multigon was intrigued by this new potential and decided to seek out its own path in effecting global change, but would have to first explore this new world in order to determine that. Robin explained that although it was in a different way than Red Claw was planning, he had completed the mission. Frustrated, Claw acquiesced and the two left the area...vanishing into the night.

    - Multigon was the name of the corporation Red Claw secretly ran in the Batman: The animated series episode that she was introduced in.
    - The other episode she starred in, The Lion and the Unicorn was where Alfred was involved in her plans to acquire and release a deadly plague.
    - Even though her clan marked her for death, as a member of the Red Hand, any one with sense would steer clear of her rather than try to collect her bounty. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some who’ve tried…and suffered dearly.
    - Red Claw is constantly on the move, avoiding capture or worse from an organization that has been trying to neutralize their movements for years. She has been unsuccessful in her attempts to end them or discover any thing about them, other than their name…The Black Glove.

Cheshire: Jade Nguyen (Personal Assassin/Bodyguard); Secret Six, Wonderland Gang

The young Catclan orphan was part of an exchange brokered by Onishusoku to train a Catclan member in the ways of the Assassin’s Guild to repay a violation of a treaty. For years she trained with a master assassin, and eventually returned to her clan. Upon her return, Catman kept her by his side by making her his personal bodyguard, since she was able to take out the eight man entourage that preceeded her. Wearing the face mask and long sleeves that is customary of many of the high level assassin (Joker, Hush, Onishisoku, Ragdoll), she is the youngest and deadliest assassin since Red Canary…which is understandable, since they were both trained by the same person Lady Shiva; aka Jade Canary. She accompanied Catman when he was recruited by the enigmatic Mockingbird for a mission requiring the acquisition of; The Compass of The Reikon, from Enigma Clan jounin, Cluemaster. Catman and Cheshire were part of a team of assassins hired by Mockingbird, calling themselves the Secret Six, including: Deadshot, Scandal, Ragdoll, and Parademon. The Six planed to use it to force The Oracle of Hi no Tama to disclose and transport them to the location of Onishusoku; leader of the League of Shadows…in order to assassinate him. Once they had the compass, they depart the area with Parademon’s demonspawn left behind to kill Cluemaster, clearing up any loose ends. The Secret Six assassins arrive as a ragtag squad of kunoichi are conversing with The Oracle of Hi no Tama. The two teams fight, and at one point Deadshot begins to target the Reikon until the Oracle agrees to locate and transport them to Onishisoku’s floating fortress lair. The Oracle is unable to transport so large a group after the six without recharging, leaving the girls stranded. After splitting up on arrival, The Six converge on Ragdoll's position when he finds Onishusoku’s entourage and attack. The Kunoichi they’d left in Hi no Tama found a way to follow them, and they continue to fight to protect The Demon’s Head, as his assassination would plunge the shinobi world and all of Hitoshirenu into chaos. During the battle, Deadshot finally gets the killshot on thier target and the fighting stops. Just then, Ragdoll grabs Deadshot, flings him into a wall, punches him in the face reapeatedly, and dismantles his weapons with blinding speed. Catman charges and his mount, Kasha, is nerve poked in the neck, falling over and throwing Catman toward Ragdoll who grabs Scandal by the arm stabbing Catman with her Lamentation (Aikikoken) Blade. Cheshire retracts her claws and kneels. Ragdoll removes his mask, revealing himself to be…Onishusoku! The entire travelling fortress was a decoy. He tells the Secret Six that he is sparing their lives, even though they tried to take his. In return, they are indebted to him to perform six clandestine tasks without question. Any refusal or hesitation will put the violator’s entire clan at war with the entire league. One of the Secret Six missions the team undergoes has Cheshire infiltrating the Wonderland Gang. Joining the Mad Hatter, Kichigai Kasamoru; Twins Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum, White Rabbit, and another are gathered to help him invade The Red Queen’s pocket dimension stronghold, Wonderland, so that the Hatter can exact his revenge. While there, they cross paths with a young girl named Malice; who fell through a portal from yet another distant land. She bonds with a creature called Jabberwock, and they along with Humpty Dumpty and Gryphon, join the Hatter and the others on their quest. Onishusoku had sent Cheshire because he had reason to believe that this Red Queen ruling Wonderland and the estranged founder of the Red Hand, are one and the same. Red Robin and Lady Blackhawk find a way to get Batman on the trail of the Red Queen without breaking their pact with the Red Hand about revealing information about their organization. Batman arrives in Wonderland to locate the Red Queen and keep the Hatter from killing her. The Shadow of the Bat and The Demon's Head want her for the same reason... she is the only person that can answer the question, "What is Checkmate?!"

    - The group of Kunoichi that attempted to avert the assassination of Onishusoku would be come known as, the Birds of Prey; Batgirl, Black Canary II, Huntress, Hush, Hawkgirl, Spoiler and Lady Blackhawk.
    - A young reikon volunteered its life essence to transport the girls to the Floating Fortress. After getting them there, the dying spirit thanks them for letting it experience adventure in some small part. Batgirl offers to part with some of her life essence to sustain it. The others agree to do the same and the spirit passes through each of them growing a bit larger with each pass. It then condenses into a female shape about the same age as the girls. Physically, she is an amalgam of them. This “Misfit”, as Huntress calls her, joins the girls in a final battle to prevent Onishusoku’s assassination.
    - Eventually, Ruby Archer, Ryo and Emerald Archer, Ori of the Precious Archers have a falling out; and Ryo winds up deserted on the Isle of Lian Yu. However, he is not there alone...Ryo will spend his time on Lian Yu surviving threats from and then alongside Cheshire. The falling out will be related to drug use and an issue stemming from his training of Gilded Archer, Mai. He will get clean on Lian Yu, which will be part of what brings he and Cheshire together. This closeness will result in the birth of their daughter, which they name after the Island.
    - I made Shiva her sensei because I liked the idea of; the cat and the canary.
    - Checkmate will be an organization based on the Japanese game of Shogi rather than Chess.

Catman: Katashi Nekojin (Clan Leader); Secret Six

For generations, the Catclan has mastered the art of stealth by studying the stalking nature of felines. Through this, they have become the premier acquisition experts of the shinobi world. The males, however, tend to focus their talents more toward brawling, again using the ferocity of large game cats as a foundation for their taijutsu style. The leader of the clan (The Catman) undergoes a ritual in which 8 of his ancestors’ spirits are bound to his own, giving him the benefit of their experience, skills, and physical strength. This also allows the leader to have “nine lives”; when a Catman suffers a fatal injury, one of the attached spirits is released, rather than the clan leader dying. He loses that particular ancestor’s attributes, but survives. Katashi was an impetuous young shinobi, and that trait followed him into his early adulthood. He had to grow up in the shadow of his legendary father, the original Wildcat. There was an orphaned kunoichi that was secretly training to master the Otoshiana no Hachimitsu; Kunoichi Seduction Art. She utilized her skills at seduction to use him to get close to his family's inner circle. She took advantage of the proximity to assassinate Katashi’s mother, and then capitalize on the opportunity to seduce his father out of his greif. Realizing he was used, he resented her especially when she insisted she call him, Mother (even though she was closer to his age then her new husband)! His resentment and former passion for her turned to pure hatred, when it was discovered that she was responsible for the death of the previous Catwoman, his mother. Katashi was then made Catman, and put out a bounty on the head of his parent’s killer; Amba Kadiri aka Steel Claw. A shinobi claimed her bounty and as a result received a handsome reward and a profitable reputation for doing what many others could not. Clan law required two leaders, so Catman set out to find the strongest kunoichi in his clan to wed. He found this after a series of trials, with one victor; Shiroi Kawaii. As a result of the spirit bonding, Catman can not have a sexual encounter with his wife; Catwoman without reliving his father’s encounters with his mother, as his feelings for her trigger the memories of his father. This occurred the first and final time they mated, during the consummation of their marriage and the conception of their son, Wildcat. It is because of this that he remains so distant and avoids intimacy with his partner, Shiori; instead choosing to have recreational relations with females that mean nothing to him, to keep the disturbing images of a first person perspective of a sexual encounter with his own mother. A result of that same bonding ritual allows Katashi to have vivid flashbacks of his father’s physical intimacy with his former stepmother, Red Claw. Visually recalling the encounters of her in the throes of passion, he truly suffers from a Love/Hate connection with her. This is even more so when he discovers that she is alive.

    - Catman’s helm is similar in style to Wildcat’s and color to Catwoman’s. The three claw marks that are usually on his uniform are across his face, placed there by catwoman during their premarital sparring match/ audition. His mount, Kasha, is named after the demon cat their clan is affiliated with, and is a Liger (lion/tiger hybrid)
    - Catclan males are extremely possessive of their females, similar to lions in the wild. This possessive nature makes him try to keep his wife from seeking attention elsewhere…but he is not as successful as he would like to believe.
    - Also similar to wild cats, the females are supposed to be responsible for childrearing. He is very hands off when it comes to his son, except when it comes to fight training which he does by having Tetsu try to attack him and then beating him down. It wont be until he can hold his own against him that he will begin to actually train him.
    - Neko=Cat; jin= person, man
    - Catman’s mother’s design will be based on Infinite Crisis Ame Comi Catwoman.
    - Catman is seen employing the ruling family’s signature, Chi Talon Technique.
    - Red Claw learned the technique from Catman’s father, Wildcat I when she married him. She has developed it to the point that her version has a red hue, unlike any other practitioner.
    - Rather than give him a cape, I decided he would use a giant lion’s mane in a similar fashion.
    - After the assassination attempt on Onishusoku, Catman is down to 8 of his nine lives.
    - Otoshiana= trap; hachimtisu=honey; A honey trap is using the art of seduction in espionage

Catwoman: Shiori Kawaii (Clan Leader); Secret Society

The Catclan is different from many of the other clans. Like lion prides, they have most of the work done by the females, while the males only come in after the hard work is done. This by no means insinuates inability on the part of the males, for they are fearsome fighters when in the field. In order to become lady of the clan, Catwoman had to prove she could stand toe to toe with clan leader Catman. She went so far as to scar his face which only made him want her even more for his mate. She bore him a male child whom they named Wildcat. Catwoman is perhaps the greatest ninja thief. She enjoys her status, but not her relationship with Catman, who has shown her no real affection since their wedding night. Shiori began to feel like her high status was now a prison, gilded as it may be. She eventually gave up trying to garner attention from her husband, and anytime she would draw the eye of anyone else, Catman would make them pay…brutally. Eventually, no one in their clan dare look at her, or suffer the wrath of their leader, and clan’s strongest fighter. She begins sneaking out to seek attention from others outside the clan, but Katashi gets wise to that and tries everything to prevent her escapades. He even goes to the extent of placing a bell on her neck to cease her carousing, as her presence would be given away by it. However that was short lived, as the superior stealth master that she is, she learned to travel around with it just as silently. She sees Batman in action one night, and infatuated by him begins an ongoing flirtation with him. She enjoys stealing things, knowing that it'll get him to pay attention to her, since her mate ensured no one else ever does. Catman tried to take down Batman, only to realize that he can go toe to toe with the expert. The fact that batman is not afraid of Katashi and is willing to stand up to him to defend her honor makes her even more enamored with him. This makes Catman hate Batman even more and have an ongoing vendetta with him. She agrees to let her son become the pupil of the Grey Ghost, because she sees him displaying some of his tendencies and doesn’t want him turning out like his father. She will eventually grow tired of the cat and mouse game of affection she plays with Batman, as she sees that they are both developing real feelings for one another. She will leave the Hidden Regions and seek to use her skills to prove she is not just the greatest thief in Hitoshirenu, but the entire world.

    - Catclan members are distinguished by their ceremonial tattoos or ritual scarring. The same way the Houndsclan wear canine face masks, Blackbird clan wear jackets or trenchcoats,
    - Catclan members are taijutsu (hand to hand combat) specialists, though they do employ the use of weapons. Most times it is to emulate the claws of their revered felines. This is done by using kunai, like Catwoman is shown, or tiger claws, like Cheshire uses.
    - Catwoman has tattoos of feline stripe patterns from her neck to her thigh.
    - Catclan members have feline familiars that they train to help assist them on missions and in battle. Catwoman has nine; Miss Kitty, Isis, Tigris, Tyger, Felix, Leo, Hecate, Willow, and Midnight.
    - Catwoman is a title, similar to Lady Blackhawk; which signifies her position as Co-leader of the clan.
    - Anton Ivo, the STAR Labs scientist will recruit members for a Secret Society: The mercenary Precious Archer, Sapphire Archer; who captured the kunoichi Clan Leader, Catwoman for the organization. They will be joined by, MetaBrawler, Blockbuster;

    Wildcat: Tetsu Nekojin; Ghostclan

The only product of the union of Catclan leaders, Catman and Catwoman; Tetsu is a hot tempered taijutsu specialist. He has a bad relationship with his parents. His father is controlling and his mother is absent, in mind if not body as she openly defies her husband attempts to control her by forcing her to nurture their son while he neglects them both; keeping her from being the free spirit that she is and roaming as she pleases. Tetsu is more than willing to join Grey Ghost’s team to get away from their dysfunctional relationship. His mother is amenable to the tutelage under the Ghost Arts master, as she feels any role model is better than the one he has, as he is starting to pick up some of his bad habits. He has a crush on his team member; Moriko Kurotori, aka Black Canary of the Blackbird Clan. He is very overly protective of her, as that is the example that he has always known. They train together as initially she is extremely timid and fearful of her quite considerable skills and he is in need of assistance in quelling the rage that is always boiling beneath the surface and quite often gets him into perilous situations. Wildcat grows jealous when she meets and develops a crush on apprentice Precious Archer, Jade Archer. She is oblivious to Wildcat’s feelings, as she sees him as a brother; due to that fact that her actual sibling, Black Condor wants no part of a relationship with her, as he feels she has usurped his position as Heir in their clan. After their team disbands, he reluctantly returns to his clan and continues training directly under his father. He has always had a contentious relationship with Cheshire, who is his father’s personal guard and who he treats more like his own child than he does his actual son. When the Ghostclan reforms two years after his return to his clan, he has developed new techniques; combining his high level Catclan skills with the training he has received from Grey Ghost, making him more formidable than ever. He has also gotten over his infatuation with Black Canary. Upon becoming reacquainted with her, he begins to pursue her new Birds of Prey teammate and bestfriend, Starling…which interestingly enough, makes Black Canary jealous.

    - Tetsu has taken the clan name, Wildcat, after his grandfather. His look will be more representative of Ted Grant. Im thinking of giving him a panther pelt headdress to wear.
    - Catman has a sister (Mauler) who has a daughter. She will be the MDCU equivalent of Wildcat II, Yolanda Montez. I’m thinking of calling her Wildkitten
    - After training with his father upon his return to the clan, Wildcat learns the Chi Talon technique. When he combines it with his Ghost Art training to create the Ghost Claw technique, it is imbued with the light blue color of the spectral energy that he channels into it.

    Tigress:
    Tora Kokaji (exiled); Metabrawl

Surrogate daughter of Yoshio Sato, last and best of the traditional assassins of the Yakuza, was found by Yoshio and taken in. He made her his apprentice in his craft of killing, as he didn't want his only child Sonia corrupted by his work. Sonia was treated like a princess, but the young runaway, who went by the name Tigress, endured a harsh training to become good enough to take Yoshio's place as the top ranked assassin for the Yakuza. In addition to the grappling and throwing techniques of Judo, Tora was taught to utilize the more violent trapping, joint locks, holds, gouging, biting, disengagements, striking, and kicking associated with Jujutsu. She also employs the high speed taijutsu of the shinobi Catclan that she was born into in conjunction with her fighting. The two girls were jealous of each other, and spied on the other's time with their shared father figure. When Yoshio revealed that Tigress' training was complete and that he and Sonia would be leaving; meaning that she could take his place like he’d always wanted, she snapped at the idea of being abandoned again. She went to kill Sonia, and instead the blade struck Yoshio. She fled in terror at the idea that she’d made herself an orphan once again, and Sonia had a mental breakdown. Sonia wound up in a support group run by Roulette and under her hypno-therapy was able to access the martial arts skills she observed her father teaching Tigress. She began participating in Metabrawls as the Glammslammer, Judomaster. Tora crossed paths with Sonia and sought to finish what she’d started and attempted to take her out as she was leaving one of her therapy sessions. She attacked, but during the confrontation, her programming initialized, and her Judomaster persona surfaced. Tigress was shocked at how well she was defending herself, knowing she never participated in the training their father had so painstakingly made her endure. They were almost evenly matched but they were caught by surprise with tranquilizer darts. Tora was taken into the facility, where she too was placed under the hypnotic trance facilitated by Roulette’s tech engineer, Sonar. Now the Glamslammers had a true sibling rivalry to promote for the next main event.

    - The gi Tigress wears belonged to her father, who she was banished with from the Goth'Ahm prefecture, located in the hidden regions of Japan. She has scars all over her body which resemble tiger stripes from her many battles, and has a tatoo over her left eye.
    - I gave her the tattoo over her eye from one of the incarnations of the character in the mainstream dcu. She also has a Yakuza style tattoo of a tiger on her back.
    - Tora is a compilation of Tigress (mainstream dcu’s Artemis Crock of the Injustice Gang) and Judomaster’s trainer, Tiger. I have also decided to merge in the version of Artemis Crock from Young Justice that became Tigress as well. As such, she will have a connection with another established Catclan member.
    - Ren Kuruma, father of Jakku; aka Wild Dog of the Houndclan, was a boy when they escaped the hidden regions as they were being hunted by the Samurai of the shogunate and the Catclan of the Shinobi Order. Ren grew up in the US and eventually became a successful businessman. On one of his business trips to Japan, he caught the scent of an exiled Catclan member (who happened to be the father of future Glamslammer, Tora Kokaji aka Tigress). He got his gear later that evening and tracked him down to the closed down dojo he was using as a stash house for the items he'd stolen and where he was currently training his daughter in his clan's taijustsu techniques. He confronted him in front of his young daughter and they fought. it was because of her presence that her father got distracted and the Houndclan shinobi was able to grab him by both arms and tear them from their sockets. He left the girl there to suffer without a father, as he had to. When he returned to the states, he began to train Jakku more vigilantly and instill in him the same hatred for murderers, which would eventually lead him to become a vigilante hunting killers and putting them down.
    - Unknown to pretty much everyone, Tora’s father survived losing both his arms to Ren Kuruma. He somehow winds up in Hitoshirenu and becomes the pupil of Yottsukonin master, Shuo-Shi Sensei. He hides his identity and gains notoriety as The Armless Shinobi.

Lynx: Ling Shē Lì (Houndhunter); Ghost Dragons

The Catclan, although hand to hand (taijutsu) specialists, have a division that is specifically trained in the use of weapons. This elite unit is known as, The Houndhunters. The exiled Hound Clan (at one time were perhaps the strongest of all the shinobi clans), were accused of assassinating their Emperor. The son of the killed emperor (who was placed under the protection of an order of warrior-witch known as, the Majo Onna-bugeisha), made his first order the complete annihilation of any members of the shinobi clan that he believed had killed his father. After secretly being called to the Royal Palace; most of the severly outnumbered male warriors of the Hound Clan were eradicated by the Royal Guard of Samurai and the Majo Onna-bugeisha, while the Catclan was commissioned to infiltrate their village and take out the women and children. The few remaining warriors went back to the village to save those whom they could, and took them with them to flee the region as their leader had ordered while he stayed behind on his own to hold them off. The Emperor's forces gave chase and the few survivors were cornered. One of the houndclan generals, Watchdog led the remnants of the clan out of the region and they eventually went their separate ways, scattering across the globe and remaining in hiding for decades. To ensure that the surviving scattered members were all tracked down and completely annihilated, the Houndhunters division was created to exit the boarders of Hitoshirenu, The Hidden Regions of Japan and track down all those who’d fled. On his first solo mission with the Red Hand as Red Robin, Tomi Komodori was sent to China to shadow a master martial artist. While there, he discovered some shady transactions involving Snakepit; the organized crime group lead by King Snake, and the local branch of the Chinese Triads. King Snake then wished to test the young shinobi’s skills himself and the two began fighting. However, Lady Shiva (who had been pursuing her former Wu Xing brother also, seeking retribution for the betrayal of their Master, O-Sensei) interrupted the fight between Red Robin and King Snake, saving the young shinobi’s life. One of the triad’s enforcers was tasked with tracking him down and taking him out after one of the high ranking Snakepit Black Adders failed to complete the task, as Red Robin was now training with Lady Shiva. The enforcer was a freelance Catclan kunoichi named, Lynx. Red Robin survived the attempt on his life and escaped. Once Shiva felt confident he was prepared to take on King Snake, they tracked down the Triads, and discovered King Snake planned to release a plague. Red Robin and Lady Shiva were led to the location by Lynx, who was secretly working undercover to take down the triads. Lynx was in China in her capacity as a Catclan Houndhunter, tracking an elusive target. Lynx will return to Hitoshirenu, as she and Robin have unfinished business.

    - The hatred between the catclan and the Houndclan originated when they lost their powerbase through the affiliation with The Demon Cat, Kasha; of one of the Great Demon Beasts that used to roam the region freely, was killed by The Demon Dog, Yamainu, leaving them at a disadvantage within the Order.
    - The Houndclan leader, Bloodhound, is currently their only clan member still residing in the region... as a prisoner of the Emperor. Occasionally they take advantage of his considerable tracking abilities, and that is the only time he ever sees the light of day.
    - The Hound clan were renowned for their skills in tracking and hunting, as such the skills that were required to develop into the Houndhunters came from the extracted memories of their captured leader. That is why they are so efficient in hunting, carry dual blades, and wear a half face mask (only theirs is cat inspired).
    - Lynx is a combination of the first two characters to use that name. Both had a connection with Robin (Tim Drake).
    - Since the story where Lynx meets Red Robin for the first time takes place in China, I wanted her outfit to reflect that in some way, and I gave her a Chinese cheongsam top under her Kimono.
    - I tried to have some consistency in the clan attire and have waist wraps, arm wraps, and sleeveless short kimonos as part of that. Cheshire has the distinction of the Asassin Clan with her Long Sleeves that go past her hands and the full Anbu style face mask.
    - The second Lynx, who most of the character’s design is based off of, wore armored shoulder pads. I incorporated the clan’s signature tattoo usage to replace that. I tried to mimic the pattern of an actual lynx.
    - Shē Lì is Chinese for Lynx. Ling was the name of one of the versions of the mainstream character.
    - Other Clan Members: Catgirl, Puma, Tomcat, Civet, Steel Fang, Armless Shinobi, Catsai, Mauler, and Big Game.

MangaDCU: Goth-Ahm Shinobi- Enigma Clan by Nightshade475
    [IMG]
I felt it was time to start focusing on the individual Clans of the Shinobi World that The Batclan inhabits!

    Gotham Ninja Folder: nightshade475.deviantart.com/g…

    Left to right:
    Cluemaster, Riddler, Question, and Spoiler.

The Order of Shinobi has different clans to cover various types of jobs. The Noble Clans all specialize in one of these job classes specifically, and are experts at it:
Enigma Clan Specialty: Confusion, deception, subterfuge, sabotage, genjutsu.
Demon Beast Affiliation: Nobusuma, The Demon Squirrel

    The Cluemaster:

Real Name: Arinobu Nazo (Arthur Brown)

Not nearly as cleaver as his father, but constantly trying to prove himself; Cluemaster leaves clues to his crimes. However, unlike the Riddler's clues, they are not in the form of elaborate riddles. His younger brother Question is played against him by their father in order to get them to compete, causing an ever growing hatred. The Cluemaster seeks to gain his father’s favor through a criminal campaign with a daring but unsuccessful attempt to learn the secret identity of The Batman. After his failure and subsequent capture, Cluemaster is taken to the Yousai no Kuromon (Blackgate Stronghold); it is the prison near Goth-Ahm prefecture where the deadliest Shinobi criminals are incarcerated for their crimes. Noted for its practices in solitary confinement, Yousai no Kuromon doesn’t allow for many instances for its inhabitants to interact. While there, Cluemaster uncovers a group of shinobi hatching a plot to escape and coerces his way into the escape under threat of exposing them. He turns them all against each other after they free themselves and returns to his clan. Some time after his return, he is hired to retrieve a recently stolen item being tracked by Batgirl; along with an artifact in the kunoichi Hush’s possession. He flees without a trace with the items. The two girls, teamed up with Black Canary and Huntress track him down with the help of the mysterious, Spoiler; who seems to know his every move. Cluemaster planed to sell the combined artifacts he’d acquired in the form of The Compass of The Reikon, to an unknown assailant who plans to use it to force The Oracle of Hi no Tama to disclose the location of Onishusoku; leader of the League of Shadows…in order to assassinate him. Cluemaster exchanged the item to a team of assassins calling themselves the Secret Six; Deadshot, Catman, Scandal, Ragdoll, Parademon, and Cheshire. Once they had the compass, they leave the area with Parademon’s demonspawn left behind to kill Cluemaster to clear up the loose end. A squad of Enigma Clan foot soldiers fights to protect him. Spoiler actually prevents his death even though he recognizes the ninja from foiling many of his past missions. The demonspawn disappear when they are led to believe they have killed Cluemaster.

    The Riddler: Clan Leader
Real Name: Eido Nazo (Edward Nygma)

Prior to becoming clan leader, a 16 year old Riddler impregnated an 18 year old clan member and together had the child who would be Cluemaster. Sixteen years after that, Riddler mated with a different woman who would give birth to Seiji (Question). Two years later, the 18 year old Cluemaster fathered Suchiko (Spoiler) making the ages at the time of the formation of the Batclan: Riddler - 48, Cluemaster - 31, Question - 15, Spoiler - 12-13...after the Red Hand/Bloodhaven timeskip, everyone is two years older. When a feudal lord of the Goth-ahm prefecture neglected to pay the fee to the Enigma Clan for completed services, the clan leader, Riddler decided to make him pay another way. He manufactured a meeting of all of the neighboring feudal lords and when they were all in one place laced the place with hidden explosives. Since no one was offering to pay to stop Riddler, no one was stepping up to stop him…until Batman showed up. The Batclan had decided to take the eradicated Shadow Wing Clan’s spot in the Shinobi Order as premier ninja protectors, except without charging a fee (since Komori Watanabe was independently wealthy). He located the hidden devices and freed the lords. This infuriated Riddler. He then made another seemingly random attack with in the province, which was but a distraction to another mission. Batman figured out what that was and stopped that from happening as well. Riddler became obsessed with trying to figure out a way to outsmart Batman, always with the lives of innocents in the mix. His eldest son, Cluemaster, who could never gain his father’s favor, joined him in his quest to take down the Shadow of the Bat. It was to no avail. Eventually, the two shinobi clan leaders faced each other in battle. After seeing how mad he had become, Batman transported Riddler to Arkham Island. It was there that he came up with the escape plan, and began to recruit accomplices.

    The Question:
Real Name: Seiji Nazo (Vic Sage)

After falling into madness for not being able to overwhelm the Dark Knight Shinobi with his Ninja Arts of deception and attempting to assassinate all of the Hidden Region’s Feudal Lords, The Riddler further disgraces his clan by diverging from their clan’s noble tasks to focusing on trying to intellectually best his greatest rival. His youngest son, Question uses his immense intellect to try to regain his clan's honor. He wears a standard ninja mask with a blindfold to simulate a lack of having a face (partly because he feels his family’s actions have caused him to “lose face”). He uses this to cut off four of his five senses to hyper-develop his sense of Touch. He uses this to convey the idea that he trusts nothing, not even what he can see, hear, smell, or taste. Question was sent to train under a new master after a request was made by Onishusoku, The Demon’s Head. Question was given the name, Noperra-bo (Faceless Ghost) by his new sensei, Grey Ghost; of the defunct Ghostclan founded by the legendary shinobi master of the ghost arts, Spectre. Question trained alongside the two other genin from noble houses; Black Canary of the Blackbird Clan and Wildcat of the Catclan. Eventually, their squad crossed paths with a squad of assassins operating under the leadership of the deadly Red Hood. Amongst that group was a weaponmaster-in-training named, Huntress. She was a dark and solitary kunoichi, even amongst her team of deadly ninja Azrael and Hush. Huntress was always very aggressive and relentless. She is infuriated and attracted to Question's laid back style and super intelligence. She begins to open up emotionally due to run-ins with the Batclan shinobi (Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl), the Grey Ghost's squad of shinobi, and her time with the Birds of Prey as well. Most especially due to Question constantly making her re-evaluate everything she did and knew. Her admiration and respect for Question led to her cessation of denying her mutual attraction to him, as he had been attracted to her from their first meeting (…without even having laid eyes on her). Eventually her squad agreed to join the Batclan when membership was offered, after their sensei disappears from Goth-Ahm. She worked closely with Question more frequently, and they began a relationship which didn't end quite well when her uncle approached her needing her assistance with a job involving a contract on some demons, and she left Goth-Ahm. During the two years that Robin and Nightwing are away, Seiji not only has returned to The Enigma Clan...he became its leader. His father, The Riddler, imprisoned on Arkham Island, and his brother, Cluemaster disgraced, he attempts to take the clan down a different path than his father set, but he's learning that it may not be as easy as he believed. He’s also learning that things he believed may not have been exactly as they seemed as well.

    The Spoiler: Exiled
Real Name: Suchiko Nazo (Stephanie Brown)

The kunoichi of the Enigma Clan are not allowed to operate in the field, but instead used in the capacity of instructors to the younger and lower ranked shinobi. The practice of only male members being allowed to actively participate as field operatives was set in place when The Riddler was a child, and his older sister Query was taken prisoner, brutalized, and forced to give up key clan secrets; which is all important to this clan. The clan’s kunoichi are referred to as Brainteasers; preparing the male members for field duty by mentally and psychologically testing them to improve their shinobi and cerebral skills and challenging their perceptions. Suchiko became disillusioned with the clan when her father acknowledged her as having the potential of being one of the best ninja his clan has ever seen, only to discourage her from ever utilizing it because of her gender. Cluemaster’s daughter began sneaking out on her own to prove her worthiness by showing that she could outsmart anyone in her clan attempting to sabotage clan missions for not allowing her to fully be a part of the clan, when she clearly has the skill to. She feels that the system of their clan is wrong as it is designed to restrict the women, who are more skilled as they are tasked with the responsibility of improving the skills of everyone else in the clan. Making a costume for herself, she calls herself The Spoiler, finds out her father's plans, and leaves her own clues so that the machikata (feudal police force) and The Batclan can stop him. Robin spots Spoiler on the rooftops during a machikata bust of Cluemaster's lair and unmasks her, though she incapacitates Robin. Robin tracks her down and Batman, Robin and Spoiler set a plan in motion to take down Cluemaster. Spoiler was forbidden from going to the bust because she was only motivated by revenge. This only infuriated her as it felt no different than what she experienced in her own clan. Disobeying the order she was given, she sought to prove Batman wrong like she had her father. She caught up with her father, only to be caught in the trap he had set up for the culprit ruining his plans. Spoiler is held hostage by Cluemaster, holding a vial of acid to her face as Batman tries to stop him. Batman reveals Spoiler is his daughter. The revelation has no effect as Cluemaster admits that he’d only recently discovered her secret agenda against him, but for the good of the clan he would silence her as her upstart mother was silenced years ago. At which point, Spoiler’s mother appears. Taken aback, Cluemaster hesitates and Spoiler uses the shock of the revelation to gain the upper hand and uses one of the chains to strangle Cluemaster, but Batman prevents this. The sudden appearance of Spoiler’s mother is revealed as a genjutsu that Spoiler cast, one strong enough to trick Cluemaster…who is taken back to Yousai no Kuromon.

    - Other Clan Members: Query(deceased), Spellbinder, Conundrum, Stash, Mindboggler, Concealer, Quiz, Charade, Veil, Hide & Seek(twins), Obscurator, Rumor, Ms. Leid (brainteaser), Ms. Belief (brainteaser), Ms. Dierhecshun (brainteaser), Mystifier (brainteaser); Cryptic, Rune & Sphinx (elders), Paradox (former clan leader)
    - Cluemaster’s design is a combination of his classic comic look, the new 52, and MDCU Riddler.
    - Riddler’s design incorporates the look from the animated series; The Batman. He uses facepaint to achieve the look he is sporting as well as an eyemask. His hair is most likely dyed.
    - I upgraded Question’s post timeskip look to incorporate elements of Riddler and Cluemaster to make it look more uniform.
    - Enigma Clan member value their anonymity, even amongst themselves. They obscure their identites with masks, wigs, hair dye, facepaint, false lenses, and such. They don’t even reveal their birth names, sometimes even amongst family members.
    - Part of why Riddler is so obsessed with Batman is that he discovered Riddler’s true name.
    - The clan believes Spoiler to be a member based on the saboteur's knowledge and use of their tactics, but never suspect her to be a girl due to their chauvinism.
    - When Spoiler operates as Robin and later Batgirl, she does less and less to obscure her identity…which is an affront to her clan.
    - Riddler’s question mark weapon is a carry over from his, The Batman design.
    - Spoiler’s design incorporates elements of Shippuden era Gaara, the Konoha travel cloak, and the comics.
    - Spoiler will develop a romantic relationship with Robin (Tomi)

MangaDCU: The Red Hand by Nightshade475
    [IMG]
Showcasing some of the members of the deadly secretive ninja organization, bent on changing the world!

    Left to right:
Red Claw, Red Hood, Red Robin, Red X, Red Dart II.

Akaite no Yubi (Fingers of The Red Hand):

The clandestine shinobi organization known as The Red Hand has operated in the shadows for decades. The group has their own agenda, that they push either as benefactors (The Red Palm) or sanctioners (The Red Fist). Each member is referred to as one of the 5 Fingers of Death or Life, depending on the current focus of the group. Red Hand members are bound to the organization for life. The only way they are allowed freedom once inducted is if they find a willing replacement that is skilled enough to take their place in the group, and all are expected to take their secrets with them to the grave. Onishusoku brokered the safe release of Red Canary (who was sent by him to infiltrate the group to learn more about them) by bringing the group, Black Talon (who became Red Talon) of the Blackbird Clan. Red Jester (who became The Joker) left to pursue his own agenda after bringing in Redwing (who became Red Hood) from the Shadowwing Clan. Red Hood sought to have his brother Nightwing take his place, but his fellow Batclan shinobi, Robin (who became Red Robin), agreed to take his place; feeling that Nightwing would finally succumb to the darkness within if he became a member of the group.
After thinking the organization disbanded, Robin (Tomi Komodori) is approached by the exiled Batclan member Red Hood; who has been attempting to make up for his misdeeds and reclaim his honor by helping others. He reveals that the former leader of the group, Red Queen has returned from the pocket dimension known as Wonderland and reformed The Red Hand. Comprised of new and former members to carry out an event that would not only end all life in the Hidden Regions as they know it, but threatens the rest of the outside world as well. To stop them, Tomi and Jotaro recruit former members of the organization forming a second Red Hand group, hoping to stop them…at all costs:

    Red Claw: Amba Kadiri
    Former clan: Catclan

Orphaned daughter of a thugee cult assassin and a catclan kunoichi, Amba grew up feeling like an outsider. Her cousin, Hanonemaru was the only person she could relate to growing up. Amba’s mother had an identical twin sister who had a secret love affair with a samurai. Hanonemaru was the child of that union; although it was established by his mother that he was conceived from a recently fallen shinobi. When the twins’ father discovered the true parentage of his grandson, he put a hit out on his daughter. He’d tasked Amba’s father with the mission, who mistakenly killed his own wife. He did not discover the fatal error until he returned to the clan estate and saw his target with the children. He confessed in his grief and she lashed out at him, forcing him to take her life. He then took his own in despair. Amba was raised by members of her grandfather’s household, as he could not even look at her without a reminder of what he’d done. Within the clan, she came to be known as Steel Claw, and she devised a scheme on taking the place of Catman's mother in order to facilitate getting close to his father and attempting taking over the clan for herself. She has always had an awkward relationship with current Catclan leader, Katashi Nekojin aka Catman. She exploited his attraction to her to get close to his father and then drive a wedge between the two. Although she is older than Katashi, she was closer to his age than she was his father; whom she seduced into wanting to be her husband. She still continues to manipulate Catman by insisting he call her “Mother” when they run into each other. Afterhaving completed the ritual to bond with his ancestor’s spirits to achieve his “9 Lives”; he often has flashbacks of his father’s time with her physically. Visually recalling the encounters of her in the throes of passion, he truly suffers from a Love/Hate connection with her. When her deeds were discovered, she was ousted from the clan and made a fugitive. As a member of the ruling family, she’d acquired and mastered the clan’s signature Chi Talon ninjutsu technique; with hers now having a distinctive red glow.

    - Steel Claw was the name of an obscure Batman villain. I decided to make this her name prior to joining the Red Hand.
    - Amba Kadiri was Steel Claw’s real name. I decided to give her this name as Red Claw had no other alias. The glowing hand also came from her.
    - Hanonemaru becomes Steel Fang; who is based on the obscure DC character, Red Fang…three guesses where this is heading.
    - Similar to Neji and Hinata Hyuuga; technically, Amba and Hanonemaru are biologically half—siblings as their mothers have identical DNA.
    - Hanone is Japanese for fang.
    - Steel Fang turned against his clan and the entire Shinobi Order after his mother was killed. He became lost and eventually came under the tutelage of the Yotsukonin master, Kirigi-Sensei.
    - Kirigi understood that Steel Fang was against the Order, but was only concerned about the warrior he could craft.
    - Every leader of the Catclan undergoes a ritual in which 8 of his ancestors’ spirits are bound to his own, giving him the benefit of their experience, skills, and physical strength. This also allows the leader to have “nine lives”; when a fatal injury is incurred, one of the attached spirits is loosed rather than the clan leader dying. He loses that ancestor’s attributes, but survives.
    - As a result of the spirit bonding, Catman can not have a sexual encounter with his wife, Catwoman without reliving his father’s encounters with his mother. This occurred the first and final time they mated, during the consuamation of their marriage and the conception of their son, Wildcat.

    Red Hood: Jotaro Kagehane
    Former clan: Shadowwing Clan

As one of two surviving members of the Shadowwing Clan Massacre, alongside his younger brother, Nightwing (Daisuke Kagehane); Jotaro Kagehane (as Redwing) was made the apprentice of the up and coming shinobi phenomenon known as, Batman. The Batman was persuaded to take Redwing as an apprentice as he was too out of control for his own clan and had been sent to the League of Shadows. Onishusoku mentioned the difficulties the boy was posing and The Shadow of the Bat took him under his wing. Redwing never had a clue how close he came to being taken out because of his stubbornness, and continued to be a handful with his new sensei. In following his own rules, he wound up caught in a trap set by a masked assassin, and held for ransom. The ransom demand was not met, as the boy’s clan considered him expendable; believing one life was not worth what was being asked of them to part with. The assassin made an ominous statement regarding the life expectancy of the clan, and that none of them would ever see Jotaro alive again... Meanwhile, Batman had been investigating leads which led him to the lair where Redwing was being held. By the time Batman had arrived, he had come across Jotaro’s battered and lifeless body. He cradled him; long enough to feel there was no heartbeat in the boy. A noise alerted him that he was not alone and in the distance he saw the silhouette of a figure holding a metal rod, dripping blood, before hearing an almost demonic sinister laugh. The enraged Batman jumped up and chased after the assailant and as soon as he had mad it outside of the facility, the building exploded. Jotaro’s body was never recovered, but the weapon that bludgeoned him to death was confirmed to have his blood on it. A week later, the entire Shadowwing clan was wiped out, except for Nightwing. What the rest of the world was unaware of was that, the Red Hand retrieved and revived Redwing when Joker lured Batman out of the building. Joker had completed his requirements to extricate himself from the organization with his acts and his silence. Jotaro was taken out of the region to heal and wound up in a secret location. A monastery filled with warrior monks granted with physical gifts and longevity through mystical means and knowledge. After a long convalescence, Jotaro trained with the monks of the society who were only referred to as, The All Caste. Eventually the Red Hand returned for their newest recruit to continue their secret agenda of changing the world.

    - This version of Red Hood’s design is based on Deviantartist; Jarein’s Red Hood x Assassin’s Creed.
    - I wanted Red Hood to be updated and have some means of redemption so that he could be included in the clan like he is in the comics
    - The identification on the blood analysis came from A-komoriyasha, as he verified it was Jotaro’s blood from smelling it. The demon bat acts in some capacity as Batman’s supercomputer in this universe.
    - The All Caste is a group from the New 52 that Red Hood resided with after his resurrection from the Lazarus Pit.
    - The MDCU All Caste are the warrior monks that defended the monastery that was buried in the ice by Onishusoku on the way to the Iwa Naga Springs. After taking over the survivors of the band of slaves, scholars, monks, and raiders; Onishusoku tasked the recovery of the monastery to the group that eventually became The All Caste.
    - Red Hood’s vendetta with Batman is that he blames him for all the horrific things that he’s had to commit and endure all as a result of him not being a better sensei and saving him from his own stupidity. His goal with his apprentices; Hush, Huntress, and Azrael was to show that he could be a better sensei to them than Batman was to him.
    - Eventually he begins to accept responsibility for his own actions which starts him on his road to redemption. He will see how he failed his apprentices and attempt to correct it by taking on the unstable victim of Kamen No Shikai member Professor Pyg; the kunoichi , Crimson.
    - Red Hood received the information regarding Red Queen’s plans from All Caste member, Essence.

    Red Robin: Tomi Komodori
    Former clan: Batclan

Tomi spent a lot of time on the streets as a youth. He developed his resourcefulness as a result of his circumstances and when the time came to become a pupil of The Batman in the newly formed Batclan, he was the least physically skilled of the three genin. Nightwing had trained as a shinobi all his life; partly under the Kagehane clan, and some under the League of Shadows. Batgirl was a classically trained gymnast, but observed her father’s samurai training for years. For the most part Tomi trained himself; as did Kaitsuki and Daisuke…that is until Batman took over their training. Since Tomi was the least skilled physically, he always tried to push to show he was just as good as the others, not fully realizing that his strength was in his resourcefulness and intellectual ability. Where Nightwing reminded Batman of his Shinobi training, and Batgirl his Samurai upbringing; Robin represented Batman’s keen detective skills and analytical mind. Tomi didn’t see this and constantly fought with Daisuke as Nightwing didn’t shy away from making himself feel superior, based on his skill level. This fighting led to an intense rivalry where Nightwing would start to feel the need to push himself further when he saw Robin developing, catching up to him, and potentially surpassing him. The constant fighting led to Batman banishing both shinobi from the Batcaves until they could get along and learn responsibility. They spent six months outside of the borders of Hitoshirenu, and during this time helped form the Teen Titans. Both lead a squad of four with Robin in charge of; magical warrior, Wondergirl Cassieopeia, Hyperlinked speedsuit pilot, Impulse, and cloned Kryptonian martial artist, Superboy. Nightwing led magical warrior, Wondergirl Troia, undersea samurai apprentice, Aqualad, and hypersuit pilot, Zoom. After learning to appreciate their master’s difficulties in dealing with them, and spending time hanging out as friends, the two headed home only to find Batman and Batgirl missing. Robin went after Batgirl who had been taken by Killer Croc, while Nightwing tracked down Batman; who was kidnapped by “the one responsible for the Kagehane massacre” as told to them by The Demon Bat. Nightwing assumed this was Joker, as all evidence at that time led to him as the culprit. It was then that he discovered it was really the sensei of their shinobi rivals, The Red Hood. Even more revelations were in store when they all learned that Red Hood was none other than Daisuke’s brother, Jotaro. After making all the strides they had in their relationship and knowing what it would do to him, Robin chose to take Nightwing’s place in the Red Hand that Red Hood was proposing; to facilitate his safe exit from the group. His first solo mission as Red Robin sent him to China to shadow a master martial artist, Rahul Lama. He was quickly discovered and surprisingly taken into his target’s home. He learned healing techniques from the old master while learning martial arts from his grandson. While there, he discovered some shady transactions involving Snakepit; the organized crime group lead by King Snake, and the local branch of the Chinese Triads, so he decided to try and stop them. His involvement led to the death of master Rahul and his grandson. King Snake then wished to test the young shinobi’s skills himself and the two began fighting. However, Lady Shiva had been pursuing her former Wu Xing brother also, seeking retribution for their Master, O-Sensei. Lady Shiva interrupted the fight between Red Robin and King Snake, saving the young shinobi’s life. She recognized the potential that Red Robin had in martial arts, and decided to train him herself. She also offered to teach him how to use his weapon of his choice, the bo staff. While training with Shiva, he was still investigating Snakepit. One of the triad’s enforcers was tasked with tracking him down and taking him out after one of the high ranking Snakepit Black Adders failed to complete the task. She was a freelance Catclan kunoichi named, Lynx. Red Robin survived the attempt on his life and escaped. Towards the end of his training, Lady Shiva and Tomi had a sparring match in which Tomi defeated her with the bo staff techniques she taught him. Now confident he was prepared to take on King Snake, they tracked down the Triads, and discovered King Snake planned to release a plague. Red Robin and Lady Shiva were led to the location by Lynx, who was secretly working undercover to take down the triads. Robin and King Snake fought again, but this time the outcome was different. Using the training he had received he was able to not only survive, but get the upper hand on the Blind snake style master. While King Snake was hanging onto the building helplessly, Shiva orders Tomi to kill him in order to "graduate". Despite Shiva's order, he refused to kill King Snake. Red Robin returned to the Red Hand and spent the next two years with the group before returning home to Goth-Ahm prefecture.

    - As Tomi is the MDCU representative of Naruto, I gave him a similar correlation to his shinobi peers.
    - Robin had to make some hard decisions as a member of the Red Hand. However, as much as he stuck to his principles, he still became comrades of a sort with them as he had to place his life in their hands and vice versa…despite maintaining a measure of distrust the whole time.
    - By the time Robin goes off with the Red Hand, he and Nightwing are damn near equals. The time they spend away, they both increase in ability, and have learned to master the weapon of the other.
    - He doesn’t discuss his time with the group
    - Because Tomi was initially sent to take out Master Rahul Lama and acquire his secret techniques, he was credited as completing his mission as a result of his death.
    - After their sparring match, Shiva presented Tomi with a gift; she had upgraded Daisuke’s Escrima so that they could connect and expand into a full bo staff.
    - Lynx was in Paris in her capacity as a Catclan Houndhunter; a division that tracks down errant members of the exiled Houndclan and dispatches them. This is why she was chosen to locate Tomi.
    - When Red Robin returned to report back to the Red Hand, he discovered that Red X secretly spied on him during the entire time he was in China. It was he who reported to Red Claw that Tomi had sanctioned his target after acquiring his secrets. If he had said otherwise, Tomi would’ve been assassinated on the spot. Plus, since he felt responsible for their deaths (since it was his involvement in King Snake’s affairs that got them killed), he was convincing when asked.
    - In the original story when Robin trained with Rahul Lama, it took place in Paris. I decided to make it China to reflect off of the origin of King Snake and Lady Shiva’s training in Chinese kung fu on top of their shinobi training. Also, since Lynx was Chinese, it just made sense for it to all be in one location.

    Red X:
    Former clan: Enigma Clan

As is the norm for his clan, not much is known about the shinobi Red X. He became a member of The Red Hand some time after Red Hood, replacing his partner; Red Jack. Red X’s suit can harness the unstable element, Xenothium to do a wide variety of things. This includes: shuriken, close combat blades, restraints, portals, and energy blasts. His motives are always a mystery as well as his allegiances. When Red Robin becomes his new partner, X frequently goes between going out of his way to help him, and leaving him hanging when he needs assistance.

    - Red Jack was one of the original members of the Red Hand; alongside Red Queen, Red Diamond, Red Orchid (Min Jie-Ru) and Red King (Darrin Profitt).
    - I wanted Red X and Red Robin to be partners in the Red Hand due to their connection on the Teen Titans animated series.
    - I chose Red X and Red Hood to be partners as it was highly theorized that the identity of Red X was Jason Todd.
    - As “X” is considered the “unknown quantity” in mathematics, I decided to make him a member of the Enigma clan. It fit in well, as there is so much mystery surrounding the character and his inherent nature.
    - At some point, I decided that since the Red Hand is the MDCU version of the Akatsuki from Naruto, they would have renounced members of the established shinobi clans in a similar fashion.
    - Red X’s design comes from a fellow deviant artist…I can’t locate the name of which. I altered next to nothing.

    Red Dart II:
    Former clan: Assassin Clan

Younger sister of the killed in action Red Dart I; Red Dart II is not sentimental about her brother’s death, but can not let it go unanswered. She suspended all of her current contracts until she has acquired retribution. She is not as skilled with the darts as her brother was, but she makes up for it in volume through use of her Gatling Grieves.

    - Had to have some casualties, so Red Dart I takes an “L” at some point.
    - Red Dart II is based on the New 52 version that was an enemy of Green Arrow.
    - She has an open Naruto style flak jacket to mimic the mainstream version’s vest.
    - I also gave her some costume similarities to the original to show a connection.
    - Red Queen will recruit; Red Talon (Society of Owls), Red Canary (Blackbird Clan), Red Jester (Assassin clan), and Red Retriever (Houndclan).

MangaDCU: Gotham Ninja- Team Ghost by Nightshade475
    [IMG]
An updated image of the Team Members of the Shinobi Squad, this time with their Ghost clan Sensei!

Left to right: Wildcat, Black Canary II, Question, and Grey Ghost.

    previous sketch: nightshade475.deviantart.com/a…

With an unexpected tragedy befalling their master, the ninja pupils of the shinobi known as The Grey Ghost disband; ending their master’s attempt to revive his clan. They return to their respective clans, but their loyalty is tested when the shinobi, Reaper attempts to rebuild the Ghostclan; with rogue ninja, Spook and the Spectre’s kunoichi apprentice, Secret.

    Wildcat: Tetsu Nekojin
    Catclan Shinobi, Jounin
Ghostclan name: Bakeneko-kun (Young Ghost Cat)
Ghost Arts Fighting Style: Ghost Fist Technique; The strikes appear at first to have no impact, but in fact have a devastating delayed reaction.
Improvised Signature Fighting Technique: Ghost Claw; Combining the Ghost Fist with his Catclan Chi Talon technique, Tetsu can gather spectral energy and form it around his hand in the shape of a claw to attack enemies. The claw can pierce through the physical form, attacking the opponent on a spiritual level; draining the victim of the will to continue fighting, making them easy prey. The Ghost claw can also access the victim’s memories while locked in.

    - Wildcat has an even more strained relationship with his father after having trained directly under him for the past two years. He also, from time to time employs ninjutsu techniques alongside hi mastery of taijutsu.
    - Wildcat is a mix of Naruto characters Rock Lee and Kiba Inuzuka with DC’s Ted Grant.
    - Since I gave him the Second Hokage’s headgear initially, I decided to double down and incorporate more elements of his outfit into Tetsu’s upgrade.
    - Wildcat has his mother’s hair color and his father’s eyes.
    - Wildcat has a contentious relationship with his father’s personal bodyguard, and Secret Six teammate; Cheshire.

    Black Canary: Moriko Kurotori
    BlackBird Clan Kunoichi, Chunin
Ghostclan name: Yosuzume (Singing Bird Spirit)
Ghost Arts Fighting Style: Ghost Kick Technique; kicks so fast and powerful, that even when you think you've dodged it, it still makes contact.
Improvised Signature Fighting Technique: Haunting Hover Kick; Combining the Ghost Kick with her Blackbird Clan Air Stepping technique, Moriko can unleash a relentless flurry of spectral energy fueled kicks while floating in midair.

    - Moriko has learned to hone her Canary Cry sonic scream into a hypnotic Bird Song. She has also learned her mother's Bird Call summoning technique, but it is limited to smaller birds.
    - Moriko has also learned a technique she’s named; Spectral Scream. She summons spectral energy and infuses it into her throat while employing the Canary Cry. It is on the same frequency as a banshee’s wail.
    - I have Moriko wearing a jacket similar in style to her mother’s when she operated as Red Canary, but obviously in a different color. She is also wearing her mother’s signature lip color
    - Moriko’s paternity will be finally resolved with the revelation that Emerald Archer, Ori Kisaki is NOT her biological father and Lord Blackhawk always was.
    - Even though they’re not blood related as suspected, Moriko and Jade Archer, Takasourou have formed a more familial relationship and have moved on from their infatuation.
    - Moriko will find herself spread a bit thin with her obligations to the Blackbird Clan, the Ghostclan and The Birds of Prey.
    - Moriko’s relationship with her mother is strained as well. Not helped by the fact that she spends time with her old friend who is a clan exile and new BoP recruit; Starling.

    Question: Seiji Nazo
    Enigma Clan Leader
    Ghostclan name: Noperra-bo (Faceless Ghost)
Ghost Arts Fighting Style: Ghost Stepping Technique; strikes targeted on him seem to never land
Improvised Signature Fighting Technique: Ghost Dance; Combining the Ghost Stepping with his Enigma Clan Shadow Dance technique, Seiji can traverse from the living world into the Astral Plane, which is also known as The Realm Where Spirits Dwell. During combat, he can use the Ghost Dance to effortlessly shift between the realms to evade attacks; the movement is akin to teleporting, but not it exactly.

    - Question has also learned a technique he’s named; Ghost Daggers. He summons spectral energy and infuses it into his kunai, but at the same time rendering them invisible, and intangible. They revert to a solid state when he releases them inside the target, so the opponent doesn’t know what’s coming until it’s too late.
    - Question can employ the Ghost Dance to commune with the spirits when seeking answers to questions that elude him. While in the spirit realm, Question is enveloped in spectral energy, tricking the denizens into reacting to him as if he is a fellow spirit.
    - Another combat application of the Ghost Dance is, Question grabs his opponent and shifts to the spirit realm with them in tow. The victim is immediately attacked by the realm’s denizens as living bodies are not allowed there without consequence. He can shift them back, traumatized and temporarily catatonic.
    - In my last pic with Question, his uniform was pretty much the same as his pre-timeskip look, except for the robe I gave him to simulate the mainstream character’s signature trenchcoat.
    - I upgraded Question’s costume to resemble his dad’s (Riddler) and brother’s (Cluemaster) look, with the black knee pads, wrapped calves, and flowing rear tunic flap.
    - I also altered the color of his undershirt to resemble the version of the character in Justice League Unlimited and gave him sleeves reminiscent of MDCU Cluemaster’s costume as well.
    - I gave him the name Seiji in connection with the mainstream Question’s name, Vic Sage.

    Grey Ghost: Yuurei Tendo
    Ghost Clan Leader
    Ghostclan name: Ghost
Ghost Arts Fighting Style: Master; Combining the Ghost, Fist, Ghost Kick, and Ghost Stepping techniques
Improvised Signature Fighting Technique: Ghostblade; Grey Ghost summons spectral energy and infuses it into his Tanto blade to attack enemies on a physical and spiritual level.

When Grey Ghost suffered that fatal blow, he employed the same forbidden sealing technique his master had performed ages ago, binding his spirit to his body; placing it in stasis while it healed itself. When he returned to the living, he was disoriented and eventually found his way back to his pupils, only to discover they had no longer worked together. His grief at losing his clan for a second time was cut short when he witnessed them decide to band together to prevent the corruption of the clan’s name by stopping the attempt to revitalize the group by Reaper, who had recruited Spook and Secret. During the confrontation, the long thought dead shinobi Phantasm reemerged as well as Ghostclan Kunoichi, Phantom Lady. Phantasm used his mists, stolen from the smoke demon Enenra to possess a contingent of the League of Shadows footsoldiers and proceeded to surround all those claiming legacy to the Ghost Arts. He wished to slay them all to be the sole possessor of the knowledge their master bestowed upon them. At this point, Secret turns her considerable powers against him, but her lack of experience shows, and Phantasm gets the upper hand. Moments before he impales her with his scythe to drain her abilities, The Spectre appears and is struck in her stead. Phantasm drains some of the mystical energy fueling his former master before he vanishes. Grey Ghost revealed himself just in time to save his students from certain death from his former clansman. The one armed grey Ghost stepped between Phantasm with his legion of entranced shinobi and his students. He released the harness that had been binding his right arm from the time Phantom lost his left one. A truly formidable force when just utilizing one arm, Grey Ghost was near unstoppable with both. The new Ghostclan fought together for first time to repel Phantasm.

    - When I introduced the origin of Grey Ghost in my Arkhamites picture, I stated that Spectre required a sacrifice from Ghost, and it resulted in the loss of use of his right arm. The implication was that he gave up his arm so that he and Phantom would act as Apparition’s arms and the three of them would operate as parts of a whole. I always had in mind that at some point in the future, he’d reveal the truth; that his master placed a forbidden jutsu on that arm and sealed it (similar to Danzo from Naruto) to use only in case of emergency.
    - Yuurei (jap: ghost) was the name he had before the Spectre named him Ghost. He eventually became known as The Grey Ghost in the Shinobi Order. Similarly, Gen’ei (jap: illusion/phantom) was named Phantom before taking the name, Phantasm; and Genshimi (genshi = apparition; mi =beautiful) was named Apparition before assuming the title, Phantom Lady.
    - Ghost, Phantom, and Apparition are the equivalent of Naruto Characters; Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan.
    - The power he placed in Ghost’s arm was to counter Phantasm’s demonic abilities if they ever went out of control.
    - It will be revealed that Reaper is the son of Phantom Lady.
    - Grey Ghost will resume leadership of the Ghostclan until The Specter returns to reclaim it. However, upon his return, he will refuse to take back the title and play a mentoring role.

    The League of Shadows

    Onishusoku:
    (Ra's al Ghul)
Design based on Sin Tzu, villain of the Batman: The Animated Series video game character, Sin Tzu.

Known throughout the shinobi world as The Demon’s Head, Onishusoku is in command of Hitoshirenu’s League of Shadows; One of the largest network of assassins in the world. However, that was not enough for him. He decided to expand his network, in order to have a worldwide monopoly on the death trade.

    - The Shi no Shichinin (Seven Men of Death) are the most deadly members of The League of Shadows, as well as the personal assassination squad that answer only to Onishusoku.
    - Obsidian Archer, Lady Vic, the Tsukumogami; Hook, are some of the Shi no Shichinin.
    - Being submerged in the mystical waters in the pools of the Iwa-Naga Springs has granted Onishusoku enhanced strength, speed, and stamina. He has used the springs to heal from fatal wounds; which has also prolonged his life and maintained his vitality.
    - The springs also have the side effect of inducing madness. Onishusoku’s mostly reserved demeanor masks his gradual onset of insanity. However, his acts of extreme violence and lethal skills are legendary amongst the shinobi world, and few wish to push him to reveal this side of him if not necessary.
    - He regards Batman as his worthiest student and opponent; addressing him as "Detective" out of respect for his intellectual brilliance, and has frequently sought to make The Dark Knight his successor.
    - He is one of the few adversaries of the Batman's to have deduced his secret identity as Komori Watanabe, but keeps silent on the matter due to his sense of respect for Batman.

    Ubu
Design based on Gyoubu of anime, Basilisk

The completely loyal attendant of The Demon’s Head is constantly at his side. From birth, he has been raised to lay down his life for his master and carry out his commands without question. Despite his considerable size, he is unbelievably fast and immensely skilled. He is the most trusted of Onishusoku’s inner circle, including his children. He has an almost religious reverence towards him, and will punish anyone who dares lay a hand on him or show any measure of disrespect. I wanted there to be a kind of uniformity to the league, so I decided to use the foundation of Daimyomaru’s, Red Robin ninja uniform to function as the basis for the standard league gear. I altered this to fit the design for Ubu by just giving him the sleeveless tunic, and made his pants similar in color to the outfit worn by the version of the character in Batman: The Animated Series.

    - Ubu, despite his strength and skill, gets repeatedly punked by Batman whenever Ubu tries to establish dominance over him.
    - Like the B:TAS version, Ubu has the same tendency to refer to anyone who defies The Demon’s Head as, “infidel”.
    - Ubu is sometimes tasked to attend to either of the children of Onishusoku, while on missions for their father. When this occurs, he treats them with the same level of protection he would his master, even to the point of laying down his life for them.
    - When the heads of the noble shinobi clans meet, each leader is allowed to bring an attendant, acting as a bodyguard. Onishusoku always chooses Ubu; and when two attendants are allowed, one of his daughters (usually Tsuyomi).

    Shuo-Shi Sensei: Han Son (Sensei)
Design based on Young Justice animated series

One of the Four Great Shinobi Masters, known as the Yottsukonin, Shuo-Shi Sensei has taken the task of maintaining the ninja art and taijutsu training of the League of Shadows members. He is a hard taskmaster and is not above eliminating any he deems would lessen the reputation of the League or the practice of ninjutsu in general. As a foreigner himself, he doesn’t care about his student’s backgrounds or origins. He just demands obedience and excellence. He often rewards those who use duplicitous means to best their peers, as their personal expression of Nindo (Way of the Ninja), but only as long as it is not against the League, Onishusoku, or himself. He saves his higher level training for those who earn the favor of either himself or Onishusoku. Restricted from training anyone in his most comprehensive style that he traded to O-Sensei; The Wǔ Xíng, he trained a young boy from birth in the Monkey Style. It is the sixth style associated with the Wǔ Xíng, which combines the five into a new one. He also employs the use of the Omoishihai no Jutsu- (Mind control technique) to bring rogue ninja under the control of the League; Omoishihai is the shinobi art that was traded to him from Yoru Sensei. In particular, this technique was used on The Bronze Tiger.

    - The student he trained in the Sixth Style is the deadly assassin, Silver Monkey.
    - In the comics, Sensei is not only his mentor, but also is the biological father of Ra’s Al Ghul. Here, the roles are reversed, but Sensei does act as an advisor and Onishusoku resepcts his wisdom.
    - The only other member of the Yottsukonin that Han-Son remains in contact with is, Kirigi Sensei.

    Daimyomaru Watanabe: (Damien Wayne)
Design based on Son of Batman animated movie

Conceived as a result of Komori's infiltration of the League of Shadows as the shinobi initiate, The Dark; Daimyomaru is the grandson of Onishusoku, The Demon’s Head. The Dark was sent on a mission and quickly encountered a stunning kunoichi that went by the name, Tsuyomi. A longtime operative of the League, she was both appalled and intrigued by the mysterious ninja's nobility. During the course of their mission they became close and shared a night together. It wasn't until sometime after the completion of that same mission that he discovered that she was in fact the daughter of Onishusoku; Leader of the League of Shadows. He would decide to keep his distance from her, as their ideals were vastly different from one another, despite the mutual attraction. After emerging from the Batcaves as The Shadow of the Bat, The Dark Knight is extended the offer to wed Tsuyomi and become Oni no Sozokujin (Heir of the Demon). He refuses and cuts ties with the league, breaking the heart of Tsuyomi. She would return to him when he was at his lowest point after the tragic loss of his first apprentice, Redwing. The two spent the night consoling each other, and in the morning resumed their ethical stances, as well as the distance between them. Upon discovering that she was with child, she went off the grid to protect the identity of her unborn child. After his birth, she trained him as she was trained, and his grandfather escalated that training by teaching the boy himself. As the legend of The Batman grew, Tsuyomi told her son tales of the great shinobi that was his father and the important work he was doing which kept him away from them. When Batman became possessed by A-komouriyasha, The Demon Bat of Mt. Goth-Ahm, and proceeded to go on a rampage, a coup attempt was made to oust Onishusoku. Fearing for her son's life, Tsuyomi sends Daimyomaru to his father to complete his training and ensure his protection until the time comes when he can take his grandfather's seat as head of the League.

    - I have Daimyomaru in his standard League uniform, which is similar, yet slightly different from the rest of the Shadows in the league. It is reminiscent of his look in The Son of the Bat animated film.
    - His Red Robin outfit is based on this design.
    - Daimyomaru only respects those who outrank him or those he cannot defeat in combat. As the youngest ranking Jounin trained by the deadliest assassins…that list is not very long, at least in his mind.
    - Daimyomaru is never hesitant to kill; something that deeply bothers his father, and he attempts to refrain from at his behest.
    - Originally I had stated that Daimyomaru was conceived during Komori’s time as The Dark, but I did the math, and that would’ve made him too old by the time he reveals himself.

    Tsuyomi Oni-no-Ko: (Talia)
Design based on BTAS counterpart, Sonia from Ninja Gaiden, and DA artist,

In the years since the kunoichi met The Batman, Tsuyomi is repeatedly torn between loyalty to her father and her love of the Dark Knight. She never revealed the existence of their son to her Beloved, as she didn’t want him to come to her out of a feeling of obligation. Tsuyomi encounters the Demon Hunter, Bane while she was on a mission after the Knightfall incident. She brings him to meet her father, Onishusoku, as a way to make amends for their falling out. Bane enters the League of Shadows, and The Demon’s Head considers Bane a potential heir to his empire instead of Batman and decrees his daughter to marry him. Initially amused by Bane, Tsuyomi later rejects the brute, regarding him as nothing more than a cunning animal compared to the more cultured intelligence of his predecessor. Bane begins to express his obsession with Tsuyomi, which she feeds into by making him jealous by constantly comparing him to Batman. Bane has a nightmare of Tsuyomi betraying him and stabbing him and then embracing Batman. He devises a plot to complete what he started upon his initial meeting with The Bat. After Batman defeats Bane, Onishusoku agrees that Bane was unworthy of his daughter and calls off their engagement. With their relationship mended, Tsuyomi decides to reveal to her father the existence of his long awaited Oni no Sozokujin (Heir of the Demon); in the form of his grandson.

    - Oni no Ko = Child of the Demon
    - I gave my version of Talia a Japanese name rather than trying to convert Talia into one.
    - The Knife she’s holding was in an image of her from the comics…I believe Cameron Stewart was the artist.
    - I decided to give her a dagger as her secondary weapon, due to her use of it in The Dark Knight Rises, even if it was used to stab Batman.
    - Although they were linked in TDKR, I choose to use the relationship between Talia and Bane from the comics, Bane of the Demon.
    - The mission where she initially meets The Dark will play out similar to their first meeting in B:TAS.

    Niisa Oni-no-Ko: (Nyssa)
Design based on Arrow TV series, and DAartist

The youngest daughter of Onishusoku, she has had to work the hardest to gain the attention of her father. When her older brother died, The Demon’s Head had two daughters left to pass his empire to. He raised them to be as deadly as any high ranked assassin class shinobi. However, tradition dictated that the title be passed to the male heir. Onishusoku sought to find a worthy replacement to marry his daughters off to, with his daughters instilling all of his teachings to their betrothed. He saw great promise in the walk-in shinobi initiate, The Dark. So much so, that he had the surviving legendary Ghostclan shinobi, The Grey Ghost, train him to honor a debt to him. When The Dark evolved into The Batman, Onishusoku knew that he had chosen wisely. However his evolution led him on a path away from the League of Shadows. He gave his daughter consent to pursue her beloved to bring him back into the fold. When this failed to happen, he decided to lay plans into motion to find a potential heir and suitable mate for his other daughter…despite her, proclivities.

    - I wanted my version of Nyssa to resemble her look from Arrow
    - Niisa will have a history with former League member, Red Canary aka Lady Blackhawk.
    - Onishusoku has personally trained each of his children on how to use his signature weapon, the scimitar. Each of them has their own and a secondary weapon that they have mastered.
-Niisa’s secondary weapon is the bow and arrow. She trains with Obsidian Archer to improve his swordplay and taijutsu and improve her kyudo.
    - Onishusoku’s fallback plan after Batman rejected his offer to become Oni no Sozokujin (Heir of the Demon), and Tsuyomi defied her father’s will, was to find a suitable mate to mold for Niisa…The Emerald Archer.
    - The League of Shadows name Ori Kisaki will be given is Lataif-e-Saraha; Saraha is Tibetan for “The Arrow Shooter”
    - part of Niisa's design came from a Teen Titans, Go version of Nyssa; done by Deviantartist

    Dusan Oni-no-Ko: aka White Ghost
Design based on Comics and animated appearances

The only son of the Demon’s Head was born an albino; and as such, was considered flawed. Always seeking favor in his father’s eyes, Dusan trained harder than any shinobi, but there were certain skills he was always lacking. One of those traits, however, was not loyalty. When the last remaining member of the the Ghostclan (which was founded by the departed shinobi master, The Spectre), Grey Ghost came to the shinobi order seeking to have his clan recognized and given a voice on the council, he was blocked…despite his service in the war. They argued that one man does not a clan make. Onishusoku approached the shinobi Ghost Arts master and told him that he would support his bid for recognition and help him establish his clan…if he made his son his pupil. Grey Ghost was apprehensive, knowing that something was bound to be attached to the deal, but he agreed. It took some time, but Dusan grew to become one of the most feared shinobi in the Hidden Regions under his tutelage. Taking on the name, White Ghost, his legend began to grow; until one mission, where he tragically lost his life. Grey Ghost felt responsible for the death of The Heir of the Demon, and relayed the news to his father. Onishusoku kept true to his word and supported the acceptance of the Ghostclan’s status within the order. Grey Ghost took on no apprentices after the order agreed to recognize his Clan. He took on missions and met and voted with the council on shinobi affairs, but shied away from training pupils for years. Even though they had both fulfilled their ends of their initial bargain, Grey Ghost felt indebted to him for losing his son on his watch; so when The Demon’s Head requested that he take another pupil he reluctantly acquiesced. He would consider this a favor that would balance out the scales. After a year of working with the young shinobi initate, The Dark, he would begin again thinking about how to grow his clan; eventually taking on pupils from three of the noble houses of the Shinobi Order.

    - Grey Ghost’s pupils were; Wildcat (Catclan), Black Canary (Blackbird Clan), and Question (Enigma Clan)
    - Dusan’s design is based on his comic appearance, his Son of the Bat animated look, and an image I found online.
    - When I discovered Ra’s had a son named White Ghost, I knew I had to include him with a link to Batman’s one time sensei.
    - I gave White Ghost a set of goggles to emulate his master, Grey Ghost, as well as address the light sensitivity most albinos have.
    - There may, or may not be another White Ghost emerging (like in the comics), who may or may not be linked to the new Ghostclan…

Obsidian Archer: Kisai Mahoutsukai (Malcolm Merlyn)
Design based on MacFarlane Toys’; Takeda, The Archer (Samurai Spawn)

Kisai Mahoutsukai joined the League of Shadows after mastering the use of his Precious Bow and Arrows, and quickly made a name for himself. Onishisoku, The Demon's Head, took note and watched his ascension in the league. He was unmatched in his skill of archery. At times, he was sent in to assist others as a "closer" (an agent who is brought in to ensure the successful completion of a mission). He is given a lot of leeway in regards to his free time. Eventually The Demon’s Head promotes him, giving him the Legue name; Lataif-e-Akhfa. He joins the ranks of the Shi no Shichinin, becoming part of Onishusoku’s inner circle. He is also one of the agents tasked with expanding the league's influence outside of the borders of The Hidden Regions, by recruiting or eliminating highly ranked assassins. He also sets up satellite operations around the world to provide support to the new League franchises.

    - Since “Mouhoutsukai” is Japanese for “Magician”, I wanted my version of Merlyn to have a title similar to, “Al Sa-Her”; the one given to Malcolm by Ra’s al Ghul, that wasn’t just his last name.
    - The Lataif-e-sitta are also known as, the Six Subtleties. These six subtleties are thought to be parts of the inner self meant to be awakened through different means.
    - The Lataif-e-Akhfa , (one of the chakra-like centres in sufi; the practice of mysticism in Islam)are not only energy centers but also forms of consciousness representing the capacity of the soul to simply be and not do—The term Akhfa or ikhfa means most arcane, deeply mysterious, or obscure, subtlety. It is said to be located in the chest and represented by the color purple.
    - Since I showed Kisai with his mask on and hood up in the Precious Archers pic, I wanted to show his face with it down.

    Lady Vic: Elaine Marsh-Morton

Design based on mmorpg Pathfinder assassin character

Lady Elaine Marsh-Morton is an English noblewoman who secretly works as an assassin, bounty hunter, and mercenary. Apart from being a genuine English aristocrat, Lady Elaine is descended from a long line of British soldiers and mercenaries. The money she earns from her secret career helps prevent foreclosure on her impoverished family estate. Elaine is a highly skilled martial artist and athlete, and equally skilled with firearms. Her resume gets the notice of The Demon’s Head, and a recruiter is sent to her home in England. Her test to join the League of Shadows was to assassinate the Abbot of the Bloodhaven Monastery. Although she was unsuccessful (due to the intervention of Nightwing and Akifumi Takaharu), the determination to complete the job pleased Onishusoku. She agrees to take some jobs in Hitoshirenu while training under the tutelage of Onishusoku himself. She is immensely skilled with edged weapons, but has a sentimental preference for a collection of antique weapons handed down by her ancestors. Although highly trained in the use of firearms, she learned the hard way not to carry them while within the Hidden Regions.
    - I chose for Vic to use different types of knives and swords while she is in the Hidden Regions. I wanted the rapier to be one of them as it is very different from the katana and ninjato used by most there.
    - The “vic” in Lady Vic stands for victim, due to the belief that she victimizes anyone that she faces.
    - She is attracted to Nightwing, physically and due to him being skilled enough to survive a confrontation with her.

    The Shadows
Design based on mmorpg Pathfinder ninja assassin character

The Shadows are what the individual entry level members of the League of Shadows are themselves, referred to as. A vast network of shinobi (not bound to any particular clan) gathered by Onishusoku; which perform various levels of all of the different job classes in the Shinobi Order. When the job requires a level higher than the ninja under his banner, The Demon’s Head usually broker’s a deal for the client with the corresponding Specialist clan. Shadows have the ability to move up in the League and receive specialized training from their resident Yottsukonin master that they refer to only as Sensei. Only the most deadly earn the ability to graduate into the Assassins Class, which is represented in the Shinobi Council by Onishusoku.

    - The Shadows are of different backgrounds and races.
    - I wanted to add some elements of the League from CW’s Arrow.
    - I also wanted them to look like the basic ninja fodder that they are, but unique. The similarities in Daimyomaru and Ubu’s outfits are presnt as well.

    Kyodai Ken
Design based on animated counterpart and Ryu Hyabusa from video game, Ninja Gaiden

Handpicked to study under the Yottsukonin Master, Yoru-Sensei by Onishusoku to learn to be one of the inheritors of the wealth of knowledge of ninja skills and lore. For years he trained alone with the old master until one day when an old foe of his master showed up. The two old enemies fought and then abruptly ended the skirmish just as quickly as it began. The result was the old samurai left his student with Yoru sensei to take on as another student. Kyodai resented the presence of the other pupil and spent every available opportunity to show his dominance in the arts over his classmate. The more he proved he was Watanabe's better, the more his sensei looked down on him. Eager to get in the field, he began to secretly take contracts for the Hidden Regions branch of the Yakuza. Kyodai tried to liberate his master’s prized Sword from the dojo, but Komori caught him in the act and attempted to stop the theft. Kyodai, still being the better of the two, beat Watanabe repeatedly; but his determination to prevent him from leaving with the weapon kept him there long enough for Yoru-Sensei to arrive. Enraged that his master chose to believe the interloper over his "true" student he attacked the aged shinobi, only to be shown that not only had he not taught him all of the techniques in his arsenal, but why he was the master! Banished from the dojo, Kyodai left the hidden region of Hitoshirenu and ventured out into modern Japan. He made contact with branch members of the Yakuza he was affiliated with. He honed his craft and became one of the point people for Onishusoku's expansion of the League outside of the Hidden Regions. He eventually makes his way back to to Goth-Ahm prefecture to take his revenge on Watanabe-san, only to discover that a now legendary shinobi known as The Batman employs the same techniques and fighting style as his old temple brother....

    - Kyodai Ken was one of my favorite original characters from B:TAS. Adding him to the MDCU was never in question.
    - I wanted his uniform to be less basic and slightly modernized it, as he has spent significant amount of time the present day Japan.
    - The Yakuza refer to Kyodai as simply, The Ninja.
    - There will be some version of Night of the Ninja, and Day of the Samurai reenacted in the MDCU.
    - Whether Kyodai will suffer the same fate as his cartoon counterpart is up in the air…
