Amph [Image Heavy] Marvel: THE HEROIC AGE

Two new Secret Avengers have been announced: Valkyrie and Moon Knight. No surprises so far, other than Beast perhaps.

 

Really? I find Valkyrie to be a MUCH bigger surprise than Beast. Hell, I could tell it was Beast the second I first saw his silhouette. I look forward to seeing Beast as an Avenger again.
Also, it's not really part of the Heroic Age but does anyone know what's up with the new "We Are The X-Men" campaign?

I highly doubt Spider-Man, Blade, and Elektra are joining the X-Men, but I'm curious as to what's going on. It may be nothing more than bringing the X-Men back into the Marvel Universe at large instead of being isolated in their own little corner as they have been for the past several years.

Can't say I'm greatly happy about Nova. I'd prefer if they left that entire area of the MU to itself with just a couple of references every now and then to Earth.

As to the X-Men covers, it does look like they're bringing them back into the general fold as these characters in general represent the various corners of the MU at the moment what's more from them though is the little slip that confirms all that a lot of us believed about Hope. All pics of her costume have carefully covered her chest/breast area but this one is high enough to show the lower sectional markings of Jean's Phoenix costume.

 

According to Brubaker's Twitter there are three more Secret Avengers not shown in that picture.

 

Ohhh, nice catch. With the Phoenix force having left Rachel and the Cuckoo's recently this makes a lot of sense. Also for the first time, two people who actually WERE X-Men:

Steve Rogers: Super Soldier, by Brubaker and Eaglesham.

 

I know he doesn't have the shield anymore but I am not a fan of him holding a gun. That's a better pic of the costume and on second glance its not as bad, but I am still not a fan.

 

He reminds me of Conrad "Duke" Hauser.

 

I like it. But I guess it throws my Steve Rogers becomes The Sentry theory out the window.

What are his shoulder straps attached to? Or are they just ornamentation?

And man, I love Marko Djurdjevic's art.

 

Very cool. Looks like Hank Pym (I refuse to call him "Wasp") and Justice will be instructors in Avengers Academy.

 

That really is awesome.

 

Apparently the X-Men thing is Mutants vs. Vampires. Sounds totally skippable.

 

I will wait for the X-23 ongoing series that will start in September.

 

So Elektra and Spidey are Vampires now?

 

You of all people should know that Spidey's radioactive blood makes vampirism temporary for him at most.
