    Imparting

    Rage on, my fiery child.
Torn from my arms but not my soul,
hear me, in the space beyond silence.
Within your tiny chest beats the heart of a warrior.
To the heavens and farthest shining stars,
    Cry justice.

    Forget grief, little one,
for it is not our way to mourn.
I bequeath to you my spirit. As soldiers draw nigh,
my time to depart this plane is at hand. But know,
from the edges of the Force, I will watch over you.
    Look beyond.

    Bow not, brave youngling.
    Grant Darkness no quarter
though your faith succumb, rent asunder.
In the end, compassion is forged in the furnace of suffering.
Of pain, be ever a student but never a servant.
    Hold fast.

    Embrace allegiance, young beloved.
    Give not your devotion easily
but remain faithful, when trust is earned.
Consecrate yourself to unfaltering resolve, and
in the strength of a steadfast heart,
    Know peace.

    Cherish light, precious daughter.
Wherever you?ve been taken, you will never be
    beyond the boundaries of truth.
As fiercely as you fight, love. For the heart has sacred places
wherein reside your gift, your birthright.
    Shine true.

    Forgive me, my Mara,
that it is not my hand wrapped around your small fingers.
In the prison of final dreams, I have foreseen your anguish and
to the Force itself I will beseech, pray mercy,
and wait. In your most desperate descent, reach within.
    Find me.

Simply lovely, Trace. [face_love] I really like the rhythm, and you parallel Mara's personality and temperment so well with this. Reading this, you can see where Mara might have had that pre-Palpatine influence that kept her from totally succumbing to the dark, like Luke speculated in VotF.

    Forgive me, my Mara,
that it is not my hand wrapped around your small fingers.

    Stunning. Just stunning.

I can totally also see Padme giving up this same prayer in behalf of Leia & Luke. Truly a mother's/ father's beseechment for her/his child. =D= [:D]

Wow, girl! That is absolutely beautiful! =D= Very haunting, yet so full of fire and grace--very much as I'd think of Mara's mother (or father?).

    Forgive me, my Mara,
that it is not my hand wrapped around your small fingers.
In the prison of final dreams, I have foreseen your anguish and
to the Force itself I will beseech, pray mercy,
and wait. In your most desperate descent, reach within.
    Find me.

    :_|

Just like a kick in the gut! So beautifully written, and that last bit-- 'find me'. Brava! Excellent work! =D=

Wonderful poem, jedi trace. Very touching and insightful. At firt I thought the narrator was Mara, until the final stanza revealed it as Luke.

    Embrace allegiance, young beloved.
    Give not your devotion easily
but remain faithful, when trust is earned.
Consecrate yourself to unfaltering resolve, and
in the strength of a steadfast heart,
    Know peace.

I chose a different stanza than the others, because this one stood out to me. It almost sounds biblical in it's earnestness. Much like David's psalms. I like this one because Luke is giving a powerful lesson about trust and loyalty and friendship.

These lines here are my favorite , you've truly captured the love whom the narrator feels for Mara. Very Well done! =D= =D=

    @};- Wow. Stunning.

The title, "Imparting," is perfect -- each verse is a gift, a legacy, imparted to her. She receives them as her inheritance.

For the heart has sacred places
wherein reside your gift, your birthright.

I absolutely love that line. I love the idea of sacred places in the heart, places that no one and no event can ever corrupt. Everyone's heart, not just hers.

What a powerful piece! Makes me remember some of the discussion about Mara and Myth. I really see her as the inheritor of a grand power.

I'm still rolling around the profound essence of "the heart has sacred places." I'll probably be thinking of this for a while.

Beautiful job, Trace! I had an image of Mara's mother while reading, but it could just as easily be from her father. Just lovely. =D=

Gabri: Thank you so much! [:D] That pre-Palpatine influence that they discussed in VotF is exactly where this came from. It?s kinda scary how much we think alike sometimes. ;)

    Gina: Thank you!! :D [:D]

Jade_eyes: Thank you! Yes, I thought of Padme and even Shmi several times while writing this. It?s tragic that neither Mara nor Luke knew their mother?s love, yet I think they both retained parts of their spirits. [face_love]

ginchy: Thank you very much! @};- Sorry for the kick. I appreciate such lovely words. [face_blush]

    Vadey: Thank you! Here?s a Kleenex? [:D]

brodiew: Thank you! :D I actually had Mara?s parents in mind, but I can certainly see parts of it as being echoed by Luke. It almost sounds biblical in it's earnestness. Much like David's psalms. Wow. I am truly humbled by that. [face_blush]

EmpressJade: Thank you! This is not a genre I write much and I?m glad the emotions came across as intended. @};-

diva: Thank you so, very much! That is high praise, truly, and I can?t even tell you how much I appreciate it. [:D] I agree about ?Mara and Myth.? It would be nice to know exactly where she came from but ? on the other hand ? the mystery is almost an essential part of her character. Thank you, again! @};-

    Jedi-2B
: I also thought ?mother? while writing, but looking back, you?re right. Thanks for the kind words! [:D]
