Movies are overrated.

 

Well if you don't like movies, I don't suggest you see a movie.

 

I don't know why there isn't an "all movies are bad" thread, but creating one would just be pandering to their significance, and I already spend most of my time doing that.

haha, i'm like two thirds through "the west". i tried to watch the country music one, but the pbs app is predictably terrible. you get what you pay for!

 

Huh, I've never had a problem with pbs.org or the Roku app.

 

hmm, i don't know what the issue is with the app on my tv then. it let me watch like two thirds of the first episode, but now every time i try to watch anything it just freezes. maybe i will try reinstalling it.

 

It is a measure of how many people saw it, thus it's a relevant metric.

 

Phoenix was great but on the whole it wasn't that good. A Scorsese fanfic with a clown.

The New Yorker’s Anthony Lane has the most trenchant analysis of Joker: there is no truly coherent underlying message because it is controversy as a deliberate marketing strategy. Quite appropriately for this thread, he drew parallels to Trump’s tendency to try and generate dumb controversies rather than work on substantive policy.

I like your optimism but I don't think AOC is gonna campaign for Bernie. Progressives don't want to look like they're campaigning for white men, regardless of policy, so she's gonna probably pick someone who is either a woman or non-white (or both). That's just how it is with progressives.

 

She explicitly liked Bernie's tweet of the event, where he says "we'll have a special guest" ... The rally is in Queens....

Of course, being there is not necessarily an endorsement, but I think there are very good chances that she will make a speech. I'd say 60% probability.

 

Waiting for J-Rod or Starbob to swoop in and claim this makes them both sexist and racist. Lol.
