IMPORTANT - In light of the trouble...

... rumbling around TF.n of late and the threatened closure of this site / boards I have added a forum to The Rebel's Senate Website for use by the London Chapter, and perhaps any other chapters that wish to regroup and plan their next move.

OK this may not be needed if the trouble with the mods is sorted out but it pays to be prepared yes?!

I will collect other websites / chapters links and put them on the site and the message board so everyone can keep in touch!

But, in all honesty, the situation is getting blown way out of proportion. We all need to remember, that this (threatened closure of TF.n) is all based on rumours, and nothing else. As with any drama on TF.n, there is always an element who start the old, 'this is the end' crap. The fact is, no one has threatened to close it down, this is just a dispute between the owners and the Admin/Mods, which will hopefully be sorted out soon.

The following is so far, the official stance on what's going on. So if anyone can find reason for all this worrying, please point it out, as i must have missed something.

I'm starting this topic so what it will be clear what happened to some forum mods yesterday and why.

The site theforce.net and the forums are owned by me and Josh Griffin. We have a contract with IGN where they provide hosting in exchange for allowing them control of the advertising. Neither I, nor Josh, or the entity TF.N LLC earns any money from IGN for this. IGN does pay some expenses directly related to running the site and occasionally we are compensated for affiliate advertising, such as from All Posters.

Last week I asked for each of the volunteer mods to provide me their name and mailing address. Many mods complied, some however did not. Concerns where raised about the reason for the request and some were concerned with privacy issues. Though I addressed these issues, some still did accept them.

Those that were either fearful of my having the information or worried about the security of their name and address being in our files enough, refused to provide the information.

Those people are no longer moderating for the forum. This is the list of demotions:

Contrary to some opinions I've read, I value the work volunteers do very much. This is not my way of thanking them or casting their efforts aside as unimportant.

Unfortunately, as much as I care about their work, I care more about the future of the forum, the tf.n staff, and our relationship with Lucasfilm, than I care about those

who are fearful of my having their contact info. It's a fact that some people who participate in forums anonymously, including moderators, can and do feel more free to

say and do things they would otherwise not do if they were known. In the end, I am confident the forum mods will be more comfortable with each other than they are now.

Based on some hate mail I've received as a result of this, it looks as though there might have been mods among us you might not want around your family. People that say these kinds of things have no business pretending to be decent people and every reason to fear disclosing their name and address.

I keep getting the 'boards have been removed'-type message at odd intervals. Is this happening to anyone else?

Don't worry the boards aren't going anywhere just lots of errors. I get them all the time, can't find threads, cant find the whole board then kicks me off and when I try to log in tells me I already am or my password is wrong

Well most of the trouble seems to have blown over now (I hope) so I'll put my icon back on in the hope that everything'll return to normal soon.

Hopefully, yes, but you never know... the way this situation's been handled by Wise doesn't exacly make people trust him...

I have a policy of my own for banning:

Anyone with the letter R in their name = Perm ban

Anyone North (UK) of where i am = Perm ban

Anyone found talking about SW = 48 hr ban + plus public flogging

Anyone under 5'4 = Perm ban + 2 hours on a rack

Anyone who lives in or around Maclesfield = Perm ban + a date with the wicker man
