On the DHC boards, Joe mentioned he's illustrating an article on the Mandalorians in the vein of "Who's Who" Grand Admiral and Emperor's Hands articles, and looks to be written by Abel Pena for Insider #80.

    This should be interesting ::)

Just had to repost this exchange as well:

    Kenlin Bros:
Where's Nuke? You'd better do that article perfectly, Joe, or you'll give Nuke a heart attack. I know I'm looking forward to it.

the heart attack or the article? ;)

Heh. Sounds great. I'd love to see some clarifications about the role of the Mangos during the Clone Wars.

I don't see what the big deal with Mandos are. Mercs in body armour that barely even covers a fraction of their bodies, helmets, and very little talking.

Even so, its still sounds like the most promising issue in months, so that's a plus.

Abel's writing this one, eh? Nice to see more official stuff from one of the old SW Fanboy Association.

Up next -- Echani and Gungan porn. (Vorlon-fetishists have nothing on Excellence... [face_thinking])

Gungan porn . . .? There are Gamorreans out there, you know, Leto.

. . . I've just realised. Has there been a single female Mando at all, the way we've never seen a female Sith Dark Lord? Why is SW so male oriented?

(I'm talkin' properly shown characters, not source material referenced or long ago published stuff.)

After a year ½, finally LFL is responding. I guess all this fuss from Mandomanics like myself did pay off after all. Maybe we'll end up getting some order in this continuity mess LFL encouraged and thereby, created!

I'm just hoping for more info on the Mandalorian references from Republics 65 & 67, as there are definitely some awesome story potential in explaining why they both attack the Republic and seemingly attempt an attack on a Confederate facility- there's some strong Palpatine/Dooku manipulations potemtial there that could easily tie into the Marvel backstory of the Mandalorians and their eventualy enslavement under the Empire.

Yes but what if Mandalore(the warrior) is Confederate, if he appears that is?

Plus who knows how long those bodies in that cave have been there. They didn't even have an insignia that told which faction they were from, Mandalore Army or Merc Army.

I'm sure Insider will see sales increase because of the buzz on this article. Alot of pressure on the writer though. Hopefully we will see a full spectrum of Mandalorian evolution rather then just the ToTOR era. After all this is the debate, Mandalorians in the days of Ulic Qel Droma are different from the Mercenaries of Jaster's group in the Prequel era. How do we stratify those Mandalorians with those in Marvel #68-69? How do we establish an official continuity thread that spans over 4000 years of Mandalorian history? Of course, we the fans have come up with countless hypothesises, but LFL has never wanted to face this continuity problem until now. Seemingly? Yet, even without Nuke/Bane, Star Wars forums are filled with heated discussions and debate over this mysterious and popular race of mythic warriors. I don't understand why LFL would keep fans in the dark for so long....

    wait, I forgot: NUKE

    Holl@chaboy Nuke!

I just hope the Insider improves or reintroduces some of their features because lately they haven't been worth buying. All they are now is a catalog for Starwarsshop.

    Hey folks!

Thanks Leto II and TalonCard for the votes of confidence! If you've enjoyed my past SW work, this one should knock your socks off.

"I'm sure Insider will see sales increase because of the buzz on this article. Alot of pressure on the writer though."

I appreciate the empathy Ausar_vos. :) This is probably the hardest article I've ever written for LFL.

"I don't understand why LFL would keep fans in the dark for so long...."

See previous comment. :) Basically, no one was willing to take this issue head on. There are few real continuity nightmares left, but this is one of them. Originally part of Marvel unholy trinity (along with skinny Jabba and the Sky'tri's recollection of Obi-Wan's *two* apprentices, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader), this continuity issue was already a mess before the prequels and Open Seasons got added to the mix. This Mandalorian piece was a personal crusade of mine, and I've given it my best shot while trying to have fun.

Fans of the Emperor's Pawns, Grand Admirals and Fact Files articles (and even my old SWFA work) should know what to expect from me by now. In the end, I'm fairly sure more people will be satisfied with the results than not, and I'll be happy to discuss the article once it's out.

    Take care,
    Abel

    P.S. Expect some surprises.

Let me guess on the surprises. There are no more Mandalore's, the clans are gone, Fenn is a Clone as is Tobi, and there is no such thing as Mandalore or the Mandalore sector. All the Mandalorians are dead.

Oh, and Boba is the greatest Mandalorian that ever lived, even though he isn't one.

    Thanks, and thanks muchly.

Quickish Question-Type-of-Thing: any under-the-gun storypoints from Knights of the Old Republic II making the article? Reputedly, some new Mandalorian historical "fillips" are getting woven into the fabric.

Oh my gosh! HOW did you KNOW? You...you must be my editor!

Enjoy the article, Nuke. :) (And for the record, the Mandalore Sector didn't exist officially until I wrote it in the Grand Admirals article).

    Best,
    Abel
