DEATHWATCH: KILL-TEAM​

It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.

Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. They are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruellest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

You are a member of the Adeptus Astartes. You have been recruited from your parent chapter to serve in the Deathwatch, an elite warrior brotherhood that undertakes the most dangerous missions in the galaxy. The Deathwatch forms the special forces of the Ordo Xenos of the Emperor’s dreaded Inquisition.


The Deathwatch maintain Watchtowers at fortified and often secret locations across the galaxy – sometimes at the very edge of the Imperium, on isolated and desolate planets and moons. From here they maintain eternal vigil against the enemies of Mankind, ready to defend the Imperium against any threat, deploying in swift starships and armed with the best weapons the Imperium has to offer.


These fortresses contain some of the most ancient and valuable of the Imperium’s secret wonders from the Dark Age of Technology. You will form a Kill-team with several other hand-picked members, often from very different chapters of Marines from across the galaxy, with wildly different beliefs, traits and traditions. Together, you shall serve the immortal Emperor. Together, you will undertake missions that no other warriors of the Imperium could even consider.

@Kurisan why are you doing this to me?

As you might of guessed I'm a huge 40K fan. (My username is named after the Tau commander 'Shadowsun', and yes I love mech suits so the Tau are my favorite)

I take it the 40k game would be super, super action heavy. Also Deathwatch is a smart choice as it gives more options on what Space Marines one can be. *eyes @Master Vo'Un'Var and his Space Wolf collection*

I'm not sure which one I prefer to be honest...both have me very excited.

@Shadowsun ah I never made that connection until you said it lol - not totally familiar with the Tau. Anyway, it seems both you and darthbernael would not mind either of these. That's good. The idea here is to give something back to all the GMs that have been so kind to let me play. I'm just not sure what to do...

Solar Knights is more of a concept - a work in progress (well not even started really) - something original with elements drawn from several different old mangas.

Kill-team is totally taken from the 40,000 franchise, and in my head will maybe offer more variety of characters and potential gameplay, and enemies to face.

I have one more idea to post - from Star Wars - then let the voting commence!

None of this will happen until the New Year, hopefully when everyone has a bit more time (and less RL stress)...

EDIT: Ooh I see @Master Vo'Un'Var is up for this one! Have either of you played the "extraction" mission from the back of the Deathwatch RPG book? That's like ready to go with maps and everything...

 

Almost as if it is perfect for the boards...

I have not played Deathwatch RPG, but have a looooooot of 40k lore to back me up on.

No have not played the extraction mission. Played Orks a decade ago I was quite young...lol perhaps way too young anyway... played Orks then they got lost/broken over time. Flirted with getting back in from time to time but never been able to. (Played a good amount of Dawn of War more recently)

Yeah the more I think about it the more I'm leaning toward the 40K one.

Third option looks cool too...although I generally don't play Star Wars RPs for...reasons...

 

@Shadowsun you don't play SW RPGs? That seems a weird thing to say here!

I'm not familiar with the 40k battles or computer games - I just got roped into the RPG by an older brother and lost myself in the artwork and grimdark future horror of the whole setting. It's wonderful!!

40k winning by a whisker at the moment then.
