When discussing a creepy old man in a young girl's bedroom, essence transfer may not be the best term to use. At least, not in a family friendly forum.

I think he was conflicted at the end of RotJ. Not conflicted between the darkside and light, but jealous that he had no family. Listening to Luke and Vader jibber jabber about fathers and sisters was actually what gave him the idea to start a family, which resulted in Rey. It's brilliant how they tied it all together.

yes folks, this post is just as much in jest as the original.

  12. In Star Wars Underworld Lucas wanted that Palpatine to be a good character at some point

in the prequels we did. he talked about many things with anakin. he did it to kill every jedi and turn anakin, but he still had some real talks.

The main uncertainty to me in ROTJ seemed to be was he serving himself or was he serving the Darkside? When he tempts Luke to try and kill him was he genuine?

The prequels I think suggest no and that the conflict we see is more on a personal level but the original films I think make it less clear and there is IMHO room for an interpretation that what were seeing is a battle not so much against Palatine the person as the Darkside overall. I think similar to LOTR were its not just Sauron personally who presents the threat but the temptation of the ring to the nominally "good" characters.

I’d say Palpatine is dualistic liie most people. Dedicated to the dark side, but part of that devotion is tied to his lust for power, to rule everything. Now most Sith want to rule, but Palpatine seems to have a personal passion, pleasure, and greed to control everyone and everything, hence Death Stars and Planet Destroyer Fleet.

whats a planet destroyer fleet ? star wars never featured that. 2 death stars dont make a fleet, especially when there was only 1 active at a time.

The Xyston-class Star Destroyers in The Rise of Skywalker are outfitted with Death Star level weapons that can destroy planets.

im looking at your post . and i dont see spaceships. and anyway, the only star destroyers star wars EVER featured was in episode 2,3 4 and 6. episode 3 as hologram, episode 2 in construction. completed death star 1 and functional death star 2.

these are the only spaceships with star destroying capabilities ever featured in star wars.

Umm, Star Destroyers, as in the ship class ISD or SSD were in ep V.
And no, despite their name, they are not capable of destroying stars.

Maybe you mean ships with Planet killing capabilities?

In the old EU, you had the Eclipse SSD, that had a weaker version of the DS laser on it.
You had the Sun-crusher, that could destroy stars (I think, not really into EU) and something called the Galaxy Gun.
Also in the EU, one ISD could turn the surface of an entire planet into molten slag in about a hour.
Killing all life and destroying everything on the surface. And apparently, one shot from one gun on one ISD has something like more firepower than all of Earths nuclear weapons combined. 200 GT I think.
So SW ships are really powerful.

    Bye.

That was in Curtis Saxton's Incredible Cross Sections: AOTC (the energy for the clone assault ships' guns)- later included in a Complete Vehicles compilation. The figures for "gigatons per shot" etc have all been removed from the newcanon version of the compilation.

Exact figures for the larger ISD guns were never officially provided.

In the newcanon, ISD orbital bombardments have also been depicted as far less energetic in things like SW: Rebels - where stray shots hit near Kanan's speeder bike and don't act anything like high-yield nukes. So, chances are, "one-hour surface-slagging bombardments" are no longer canon.
