What I know is that Will Smith was still cool, James Bond still had dark hair, Star Wars did not yet have prequels and all was right in the world.

98 was the ****. i was 5 years old so i was probably just running around eating dirt while my parents cleaned up after me and paid the bills. boys had cooties so you stayed the hell away from them so you never did stupid **** you'd later regret, and christmas and birthdays were the bestest. i couldn't fall asleep at night the last 2-3 weeks leading up to those occasions, i was just too excited. you just don't get that birthday and christmas feeling anymore when you're 24. it's rather the opposite, where i'm excited about falling asleep every night, but am terrified of how birthdays and christmases are creeping closer. plus, there were no worries. no exams hanging over your head for weeks and months on end, mocking you, making you google "how much money make as prostitute", yknow, just in case. school was just play. in first grade english, we learned one word a week. the first word we learned was "pig". i was proud to go home and tell my parents that this week i learned the word "pig". now, i'd have to bring something way better to impress anyone. i have to worry about actual results. there were no results in 98. just saying.

December 13, 1998: Somebody was probably still mad about Star Trek Insurrection.

Yeah, that was me. Cuz even though we love it, Trek is bad, like everything else around here.

Insurrection was legitimately terrible because it was so half ***ed.

In '98? Hell, I'm still mad now. It's just tempered by having to also be mad about Nemesis.

Facebook doesn't go back to 1998, but I was a senior in high school and I don't remember anything of significance happening.

Thanks to Facebook, I do know that on this specific day in 2009 the Season 4 finale of Dexter aired. If you haven't watched Dexter yet, I recommend checking it out and stopping at this finale / maybe watching the 1st episode of Season 5, but then definitely stopping. This was probably top 5 best season finales ever written.

1998 was a pretty cool year. I was thin and in good shape, I finished high school, I still hadn't dropped off college, I first grew a mustache, I dated that gorgeous redhead from that longwinded tale I told at Coruscant's interview, I still thought the prequels were going to be great, and (most importantly) I still hadn't registered here in Hellforum. Good year.

My only regret really is that at this point I'm first year university, lean, in cargo pants and Dickies t-shirt telling people "hey you have to hear this album called "Three Dollar Bill, Y'All"...
