    I'm jumping in randomly here, but in my own personal opinion, Hayden's Anakin is only iconic for one thing: being whiny. After watching all 6 seasons of Clone Wars, I sincerely wish that Matt Lanter had been chosen as the episodes 2 and 3 Anakin. Maybe he would have been too young to play the part, but I liked Lanter's approach to the character. I have to say he made me actually kind of like Anakin, so I try to forget that Hayden's Anakin exists.

    That said, I don't think you can place all the blame for Anakin's crappiness on Hayden, or even Jake Lloyd. I think probably...75% of the blame rests on George Lucas himself. There's a reason the original trilogy is so good; he didn't direct two out of the three films (pretty sure he directed ANH though. I like Return as much if not more than ANH however).
