I think you're talking about Rivaldo's great acting performance when he got the ball against his leg but faked it hit his head ??? :D

I'll be supporting Germany however (sentimental towards Oliver Kahn, who reminds me of Peter Schmeichel, I think). :)

And if Turkey wins Brazil I'll consider writing a petition to make it a purely Asian country ;) [face_mischief]

    Germany 0-2 Brazil ...

no, it is gonna be 1:1 after regular playingtime, then Oliver Bierhoff is gonna switch into the team and will make the golden goal... kinda like the Euro... ´96 :)

Whatever it is, I hope that the match doesn't go into penalties. It takes the atmosphere away from the game because you end up having the feeling that neither side really deserved to win completely.

Considering the way Germany simply plug up the defence, I'm hoping that there may still be goals for the Brazilians! We'll see how well Olli Kahn does against them...

I think that with Ballack's suspension, the main man for Germany will now be Oliver Neuville, he's been everywhere in the previous matches setting up goals.

Many congratulations to Hakan Suker for the fastest goal scored in WC finals history! Turkey played beautifully, so did the South Koreans, but that first goal by Hakan Suker really set the tone of the match.

But what really made my day was the way both Turkish and South Korean players came together at the end to thank and salute their fans together, it really showed the way they were gracious winners and losers respectively. Suker isn't just the Turkey captain, he also knows how to captain people's hearts, by bringing together an entire line of players to salute the fans. :)

    Go Germany! :)

Congratulations to Brazil on the victory, they deserved it. :) I feel quite sorry for Oliver Kahn, it must really hurt for him after all his fantastic goalkeeping in the matches prior to this. All the same, ironically, it was his mistake that contributed to the first goal :(

I thought that was a great gesture, turkish and koreans hand in hand, that should be the spirit of the WC!

Germany-Brazil: If I hadn´t seen the game, I would think Germany won. There are thousands of people on the streets (even though it is raining), car horns sound, people dressed in back/red/gold celebrating and fireworks.

I enjoyed the game very much (even though it was cold, rainy and windy)!!!

For me, after yesterday's match where the Turkish and the South Korean players had both played their hearts out, yet came together at the end of the match as gracious winners and losers respectively to salute their fans together, in comparison today's match was much lacking in the human factor. There was just a deluge of tackles here and there, and at the end the celebrations were terribly one-sided. Although it was a good match, somehow the 3rd/4th placing match seems more special to me because of the ending. It really was in the spirit of the World Cup.

Yay I guessed the right score! :D...

But anyway it was a nice game to watch with great football from both the sides and Germany has proven once more they are strong as a team...good to hear that the German fans aren't too dissapointed about their lost final...

Just curious, but are we going to continue football discussion in this thread or in the other Football thread (which seems to have seen very little action there lately)?

Well, since the world cup is over now it would make sense too continue any football discussion in the other thread...but I don't think much can be discussed yet cause no competition or anything has begun yet, to my knowledge.

    ...

Or we can make a "countdown to Euro 2004" thread :D...
