Taking a breathing break for a few. Had close to 200 trick or treaters so far.

My daughter is committed. Been swinging on a tree swing dressed as a broken porcelain doll since 2. At this point animatronics and strobe lights are doing half the work for us. But my head smells of latex and I've never loved oxygen more than this moment.

Well...that was the best Halloween I've had in years.

My 2.5 year old kid didn't want to dress up. We had an owl costume and a spiderman pj costume ready to go. At 5 o'clock - just as we were getting ready - he literally said "No!!! I don't have to wear a costume if I don't want to". And honestly, I'm kind of proud that our little guy knows how to advocate for himself. It wasn't a tantrum. Just an absolute declaration.

So we all sat out on our porch, with the glowing jack-o-lanterns, on a beautiful cool NE night, passing out candy to about 125 kids. Lots lots lots of Mandolorian kids. A dad wearing a full blow Chewie costume. A Darth Vader. Two girls wearing steampunk victorian outfits who did a whole skit for us, for their candy. A couple of tacos. A slice of Pizza. Many dinosaurs. No ST costumes at all.

And our son loved it. He was yelling Trick or Treat and finally got what Halloween was all about. I don't think he understood it till seeing all the kids walk up for candy.

Rounded out my Spook Month with the following:

Last Night in Soho (2021) - first viewing
    Antlers (2021) - first viewing
    The Invisible Man (1933)
    Poltergeist (1982)
    Trick 'r Treat (2007)

Unfortunately didn't get a chance to squeeze in my Halloween 3: Season of the Witch viewing... might cheat a bit and watch it once of these coming days in November. [face_laugh]

Hope everyone had a great Halloween!

It's that time of year again.

It's a nice, dreary, rainy morning where I am, and I ushered in the season with a double feature of a couple of the lesser-discussed Universal horror pictures: Werewolf of London (1935, Stuart Walker) and The Black Cat (1934, Edgar G. Ulmer).

Am I the only one who has no interest in Hocus Pocus 2 and thinks the original is overrated?

I am looking forward to other Disney Plus Halloween content though.

I’m not a Hocus Pocus fan, it’s definitely overrated.

Slowly hemming my costume, I hate doing hems, but somehow I’ve run out of black thread.

I tried to watch Hocus Pocus once. Couldn't stand it.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of Halloween in general, which is less than an ideal condition when your birthday is only 4 days earlier.

Why is Hocus Pocus even a thing? I remember watching it and it was....eh? Is it because we had nothing better to do?

I think the draw was seeing Bet Midler as zany witch.

I haven’t seen Hocus Pocus myself. I’d prefer to just watch a superb Macebeth adaptation with the true three witches.
