Ha, I missed this when it went up on Sunday. Sounds wonderful, and of course Adams' dialogue is ever golden.

 

People, there have been some developments.

Xeiah is super busy with important work so she will not have a lot of time to record her lines. Punk and soitscometothis stepped up to take over, but Punk is Eddie (and also busy). So! Meet our new Ford: the poster above me.

Can I keep spamming you with new recordings of the same lines or you had enough?

I wanted to try to make it cleaner.

 

You can send me anything but the intonation of some of the takes you did was just magnificent. Also, one line has been used as the main sample for a new song.

Yeah, it wasn't about the intonation but rather that I'd like to learn to record a cleaner sound, perhaps following Darth Punk's advises, or using something else to record. I'm a complete beginner in this kind of things.

 

It's its own profession. You can delve as deeply into it as you want. A neighbor of mine just bought a $2000 microphone, just to get the very cleanest sound possible. He'd bristle at your recording quality, but what saves it is that you're a Vogon guard so we can imagine you talk through a voice box. It doesn't really matter.

 

I may have to buy some sort of microphone, but I won't be spending 2k on it

 

It's a shame to lose you Xeiah. Your Ford had a constant, warm enthusiasm, even in the midst of peril, that really suited the role!

I hope work treats you well, and maybe we can get you back for some kind of after party, because you really helped get this off the ground in spectacular fashion!

@soitscometothis Looking forward to hearing some of your lines! I think you're going to be a great Ford too.

You can get some pretty decent microphones without breaking the bank. The one I got was only £30, and Supes hasn't had any problems with my latest recordings.

Wow, I did not know that "first against the wall" was an Adams original. I'd have appreciated getting to deliver it more than I did if I had.

I've got some truly epic length speeches in Fit the Third. I need to start working on those now.

 

I am now completing both the first episode with new Ford and the second one.
For the second one, I'm missing some bits.

I had a relatively big piece of dialogue with 'impoverished' near the end. On my first recording I pronounced it 'impovished', and each subsequent retake went the same way. Total mental block as I came to the word. In the end I just left it, hoping that the audience will get what I was trying to say.

 

So if it's Prefect that's perfect but Perfect not Prefect? Not perfect. Perfect is Prefect.
