    ooh, a serious thread!

Not for the first time, I'm trying to stop smoking and drinking. I smoke 15-20 a day, and drink....well, far more than I should.

So today, I'm trying to quit both. I had a cigarette at about 9am, and not had one since (9 hours ago).

And the fact that Chelsea are playing this evening will make it tough as I normally smoke, drink, and swear quite a bit when they are playing! But there's no drink in the house, and no cigarettes. So it's gonna be fun :p

It's tough to do, but just putting them down is the best way to do it. That is, keep procrastinating on buying that other pack.

I've not smoked in more than three or four years, but even then I occasionally just want one terribly when I'm stressed.

Congratulations!! That's so awesome :D I hate when my dad smokes, and your kids probably aren't big fans when you do. The healthier you stay, the longer you'll be around for them. This is awesome :)

Well, Day 1 was a success although it took me 3 hours to get to sleep :(

Next big test is tonight. I've got a theatre rehearsal and quite a few of them smoke during the break. I'll take my DS along and play on that instead.

[:D] Dunno if this'll help or not, but chewing gum might make it easier (like, you can't smoke while you've got it in your mouth).

Every day that you don't do it, it becomes less of a habit.

Day four has just begun. Not having cravings as much as just being bored.

When walking back from town yesterday, normally I'd have a ciggy. I didn't WANT one, but I missed having one as that is my routine. So I had nothing to do. It was boring. Make sense?

It makes sense, at least somehow. ;)

How about sending a sms or playing a game on your mobile phone? That give you something to do. ;)

I quit smoking over 5 years ago. I went to a smoking cessation group and it really helped. That and tea tree oil toothpicks. They occupied my mouth and hands.

    Whatever works, man, whatever works.

Yeah, I get that. Sabine's texting idea is good, or maybe chew gum or eat a candy bar or listen to music or something.

    I'll watch House :p

Evening of day 4 and all seems ok. I went for a jog earlier as well. Not done that since......ok, I've never voluntarily been for a jog [face_worried]

Just think. Soon you'll be able to shout from the roof tops "I'm a quitter!" :p ;)
