It's now better than even odds that the only way I will ever see this movie is on the back of an airplane seat. With the advantage of state of the art visuals stripped away my experience will be utterly dependent on dialogue and plot.

at least your face is close enough to the screen that it’s just like a movie theater

I started watching this earlier today via sources.

Utterly dreadful. I managed about 30mins before I had to turn it off

If you liked it, winner for you. I went in eyes open as someone who didn't like the first one hoping that maybe the next one will be a step forwards but it's clearly not for me.

literally anyone who has ever reviewed this movie would tell you the first 45 minutes is garbage, the subsequent 75 min is peak cinema, and the following hour is great action

I literally LOLed at marine biologist George Constanza, and "The sea was angry that day."

No movie should need 45mins of garbage to get good. I know there are loads of them out there that do it and get away with it though. On the basis I didn't like the first, I decided against wasting the next 2.5hrs. I may ttry again some point in the future when I've nothing going on a maybe a glass of wine or 3 available. I put the Super Mario Bros film on instead and thought that was excellent (for what it is)

I laughed pretty hard at “obligatory underwater level.”

Hasn't been announced yet. The digital release just happened 2 weeks ago. The Blu-Ray was expected to be this month (Earth Day, like Avatar 1's initial, bare-bones release) but so far no word.

"The Wrong Kid Died" in the Honest trailer was genius

    June 7th on D+.

No official word on a BD/4K release, but there's indication of a June 20th date.

Happy Way of Water Day. As mentioned above it's on Disney+ as well as Max today. It's 3 hours and 15 minutes. Looking forward to watching this with the wife. I anticipate it's going to take 2-3 days to watch it in its entirety.

If you haven't watched the original Avatar (2hr 42m) ever or if you need a refresher, it is not on Max. You'll need Disney+ for that.

    Other notes:
Disney+ has also has 4 documentary pieces
    1) 20/20 doc "Avatar The Deep Dive" (38m)
    2) Avatar The Way of Water: Capturing Pandora (10m)
    3) Avatar The Way of Water: Stunts (5m)
    4) Avatar The Way of Water: Building the World of Pandora (9m)

“The most immoral marine biologist since George Costanza” was the peak of the trailer, for sure. If I had been drinking coffee, I’d have spit it out. Among others, I also enjoyed:

“With Earth's resources tapped out, James Cameron must invent a whole new culture for white actors to appropriate.”
Same as the first. Glorified screensaver with a story that amounts to Cameron punching me repeatedly in the face with his theme knuckles.

To each, their own. I found it entertaining. And as one who needs proper motivation to go to the cinema to see any movie, I walked out satisfied.

Glad you and others here like it! And I say that genuinely (honestly). :)

I’d just personally rather watch the more amazing things under the Earth’s oceans in a documentary like Blue Planet, than allow Cameron to burn my retinas out with his CG eye assault.

Watching this for the first time on D+

I'm 30 minutes in and I've already fallen asleep once. Had to rewind 5 minutes to catch up. I'm determined to make it through just so I know what's going on. But...I have very little interest in this universe. Just filled with too many cliches and not enough concept or story.

Is James Cameron trying to make this an actual thing? Because it seems like the exact thing he would try to do.

    Yeah. pretty much.

I'll admit that the tropical water looks refreshing and I wish I were swimming in it. But that's about it.
