In the beginning, there were the Ortolan. And then there was everything else.

In the beginning, the droid yawned: "Huyangggg!"
    Thus, he was named.

    Something like that.

Just did watch A Complete Unknown and i really liked it. Now, get Chalamet for First Jedi film. Think the Bob Dylan movie is a good comeback for Mangold. He is a very solid director. His Indiana Jones movie was a bit all over the place for me, but i think the main storyline was overloaded with «Indiana Jones greatest hits» plotpoints. And it was a commercial failure because it was both too expensive to make, and it was generally bad timing for Indiana Jones nostalgia.

I am very eager to see what Mangold can do with Star Wars.

I wonder if we get an angel creature alien appear. As Anakin said to Padme, we know angels do exist and we saw one in Clone Wars. So they be the spiritual guardian here

I think we'll just get angles instead i.e. the camera uses the Battlefield Earth angle

Would it be funny if this is our only movie without a lightsaber and all the prime jedi has is their connection to the force and a wooden walking stick like Moses and Gandalf. And why they are referred to as space wizard. The lightsaber might be nothing more of a tease and a hint. Also will there be any Tolkien influences, here with the jedi Origin. Maybe Filoni will suggest take inspiration from the five wizards.

Instead of lightsabers, they use lightrocks. There will be a scene where several cavejedi are struggling while fighting with lightrocks until one of them looks at a cavejedi in the background brandishing a new lightsaber, and they will say "Hey, look what Master Zog do!"

It'll be the first, and probably last, time that SW references an old Far Side cartoon

Chalamet is too overused to be in Star Wars, they'll get someone new most likely

Don't jinx it lol, won't be surprised if this ends up being cancelled too

A long staff, with a kyber crystal in it, or on top, that harnesses the force for the user could be cool or interesting. And very much in-line with fantasy wizards. Magic wands are also derived from this long staff concept, just truncated over the centuries. So yeah, I could see the lightsaber being a long distant off-spring of what we see in the first movie.

Also the crystal is alive like a living rock. We know with weapons you can shoot powerful blast with it from a rifle to the death star. Maybe they can also use to harness other powers. Could it help you having greater force sight and abilities?

Maybe like it first, the space wizards need something like a force staff just to use the force, or to use the force greatly. They're not that powerful yet on their own. You could do something like Force blast and shove, light, energy beam, etc, from the staff being used or swung around.

Then the actual lightsaber is something that is more particular weapon to the Jedi Knights that show up much much later on.

I don't know, staffs and/or wands that can shoot blasts of energy might come off as too Harry Potter-ish, or worse, like the wizards duel between Gandalf and Saruman from the first LotR film which I always thought was kinda silly. If the Prime Jedi mosaic featured in TLJ is anything to go by, it looks like they are holding some kind of straight bladed weapon. Here's the mosaic for a quick reference:

I'd rather see something more akin to a lightsaber than a staff myself, maybe just a more rudimentary version. Something like the Darksaber that doesn't retract or similar perhaps.

Sounds like the old Kaiburr crystals from legends.

Good ideas. Jedi and their kyber crystals do have a special bond and I'm sure Force sensitive people in the ancient past would use them for various purposes, like helping them focus during meditation, difficult tasks or everyday situations. They may also have been used to augment/focus/awaken their powers, which would hearken back to GL's original idea for the Kaiburr crystal featured in drafts of what would become ANH, as well as the novel Splinter of the Mind's Eye.

I'm beginning to get the feeling that it will start with somone discovering a kyber crystal; that there were no Jedi-like Force users before then.

I think as long as it still looks Star Warsy, it can work. Make it look a bit techy.

After all, we've seen something like it before.

Maybe the first Jedi, uses this large staff, crystal up top, maybe its half metal or something. And then by end of movie, his students are crafting the first proto-sabers. That original staff is no more. It was a one of a kind object. And so they try to mimic it.

That seems questionable. Didn't Mangold just say a few weeks ago that they haven't even finished a first draft of the script?
