    Hi all,

Just a quick question that I want ton know about for no particular reason,

Does anyone know what language Jango speaks to Boba when he tells him to close the door in his appartment?

    Is Kaminoan?

    Cheers...

It's Huttese. Something like "Boba, close the door."

Actually, I think its the actor's native language. Don't know that that is though.

Ah Huttese, I just didn't think that they would use that same language again, that's why I thought it might have been Kaminoan.

The actors native language is Maori, dunno if I spelt it correctly though!

    :)

It´s not Huttese, it doesn´t sound remotely like it.
I got the feeling he was speaking some secret Mandalorian tongue that Obi-Wan would know nothing about.

In real life though, it´s maori.

This goes back to what I originally posted. It is not Huttese!!!! If it was, wouldn't Obi-Wan be able to understand what he just told Bobba???????

Yeah I agree with Lars, it can't be Huttese. He spoke that language so Obi-Wan wouldn't hear what he says.

Well that's kinda dumb. Jango says something and Boba goes and closes the door. What does Obi-Wan think he said?

Maybe Jango wants Obi-Wan to think he said "Let´s dick with the Jedi. Go and do something suspicious."

The line from the AOTC novel does not shed any light, either. It says
'Jango said, in a coded language,"Boba, close the door" '.

However, the book 'The Art of Star Wars:
Episode II Attack of the Clones' has the film script at the back of the book.

Scene 076 is the scene from Jango's apartment:
Obi-Wan: Then you must know Master Sifo-Dyas?
Jango Fett: (in Huttese) Boba, close the door.

I also believe that it is Maori, Temuera Morrison's native tongue.

AOTC's revised 3rd draft (the shooting script for the film) has it listed as :

JANGO FETT: (in Huttese) Boba, close the door

that's so odd. I'm willing to accept it is Huttese, but now that brings up the question why didn't they subtitle it like all the other Huttese-spoken words?

BTW the DVD subtitles show the words as

    rood eht so heeck

"rood eht so heeck"? That's funny, 'rood eht' is 'the door' backwards.

As a matter of fact (I just pointed this out in another thread), according the the DVD, the text of the onscreen displays in the cockpit of Slave I in the film are in Mandalorian. Evidently, this is one of the Fetts' main languages, apart from Basic and Huttese.

Is there some backstory one must know for one to understand why Jango and Boba would be speaking Huttese?

Maybe Jango thinks a non-Basic language will be unintelligible to Obi-Wan. There's a good chance he was incorrect.

Anyway, he said it wrong. It should've been "Rood eht esolc, abob." :p

They have Claimed that it was Huttese so far but it is obviously not. It will probably in the long run turn out to be mandolorian, but who knows. A Well trvelled man such as Kenobi could understand Huttese if it was... not that it mattered, I'm sure Obi-wan got the jist of what Jango said when Boba closed the door.

It's probabley a mandalorian code, it's to much of risk because huttese is quite popular, and if it's a madalorian code Jango's probabley the only person left in the galaxy who speaks the mandalorian code because he is the only surviving mandalorian.

Well, I read the AotC novelisation it said "coded language", as someone posted earlier in this thread, and I actually thought it was a language the Fetts had invented themselves. Hey, I always figured Jango would be that kind of guy.

Anyway, I doubt it's Huttese. But in address to why there would be no subtitles, there are some foreign phrases that are not subtitled, when it's obvious what the meaning is. For example, we can easily deduce that "rood eht sook" or whatever means "close the door". Likewise, when Poggle the Lesser hands Dooku the Death Star plans, he goes "yiuk nik" or something, which obviously means "Here ya go". But it's not subtitled.

As for the "main language" of the GFFA, it is most certainly not Huttese, except for maybe in the Outer Rim. The "main language" is Basic, which is what we hear as English. I doubt that English is what the characters actually speak.

i cant see why huttese would show up all over the galaxy, it seems abit lazy by uncle george. I for one like to think of it as mandalorian.
