PT Jar Jar Binks isn't THAT bad

I know he's a bit annoying and a joke character, but he doesn't ruin the movie like a lot of people say he does.

 

Never heard of this Jar jar bunks.

But yeah, in all seriousness i agree with you.

 

How're you going to tell other people what did and didn't ruin the film for them?

I liked Jar Jar most of the time. Good juxtaposition to the Jedi in early scenes. And he fits in with the youthful optimistic vibe of everything before the galaxy dovetails into darkness.
His antics are arguably a bit much in the final battle though.

 

the one I couldn't stand was Anadin Skywalker

 

unlike his Cousin Binks, Jar-Jar Bunks didn't go along with the heroes to Tatooine and stayed with the other gungans,
so yeah I agree, he wasn't that bad

I agree. He's just annoying. That's all. How many other movies do have annoying characters and we just look past them?

 

I can’t believe how ill mannered the Jedi were when they first encountered him. Qui-Gon questions his intellect, and Kenobi’s dismissive “what’s this?” is straight up xenophobic.

An appalling way to introduce yourselves to the natives. But yeah, he’s annoying. Not quite Ruby Rhod levels of annoying, but then who is? Actually, I think I found toddler Anakin more annoying than Binks.

I like Jar Jar, but for me it's more that he's distracting in TPM.

and all bad guys have to be blacker than black...

that's really great storytelling that

He’s a fish out of water, literally, who goes from being a clown to a tragic figure. Impressive character arc.

I like Jar-Jar, never understood why he was hated so much.

 

Well if you don't find Jar Jar funny, he's doing something "funny" in almost every scene he's in. I like him, but some of that humor fell flat for me.

 

Jar-Jar failed for the same reason lots of comedic characters fail; they're not that funny. Jar-Jar tries to be constantly funny and the majority of that comedy falls flat on its face.
