Saga Jedi Power Levels

Lucas himself gave power levels to jedi and sith at various points.

Pretty sure in the ROTS he said that at that time Yoda, Sidious, and Vader (pre suit) were a 9. He also said only Yoda and Mace can handle Sidious so I think that implies Mace is a 9 as well. He also clearly said that Obi-Wan was an 8 during ROTS.

So let's take a stab at what various characters' power levels were for each movie based on that criteria. Note that Lucas said the jedi were in their prime during the prequels so they are going to be higher than the OT. I will also rank them by power:

TPM:
Darth Maul: 7
Qui-Gonn Jin: 6
Obi-Wan: 5 although he may have become a 6 after defeating Maul.

Notes: Darth Maul is clearly stronger than Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan being able to fight both at the same time. But not as strong as Dooku based on how Obi-Wan did vs Maul and Dooku. After seeing his master go down Obi-Wan leveled up IMO.

AOTC:
Yoda: 9
Count Dooku: 8
Obi-Wan: 7
Anakin: 6 1/2

This one is pretty easy. Yoda is known to be a 9 but clearly stronger than Dooku who was clearly stronger than Obi-Wan and Anakin. At this time Obi-Wan is clearly stronger than Anakin but not by a lot. You could make an argument that Obi-Wan and Anakin were a bit lower than my rankings. Dooku was "disappointed" in Obi-Wan which means he might have still been at Qui-Gonn's level or even a bit lower.

ROTS:
Yoda: 9 / Sidious: 9 (they pretty much had a stalemate)
Mace: 9
Vader (pre-suit): 9
Anakin: 8 (8.5 when tapping into the dark side vs Dooku)
Count Dooku: 8
Obi-Wan: 8 (probably a bit lower during the Dooku fight and 8 by the end of the movie)
Kit Fisto: 5? 6?

Notes: Mace is pretty hard to rank based on a few variables. He's either an 8, 8 1/2, or a 9 depending on whether you think Sidious threw the fight or not. I think he's clearly stronger than Obi-Wan so I'd go with an 8 1/2 or 9. Vader is slightly below Sidious because Yoda sent Obi-Wan to fight him because "Sidious is too powerful" even though Lucas said that pre-suite Vader was a 9. Kit Fisto lasted a few seconds longer than the other masters who went down so he's probably a 5 or 6. Vader without being dismembered could have been a 10 sometime after ROTS.

ANH:
Vader: 7
Obi-Wan: 6
Luke: 1

Notes: Lucas said that Palpatine was 20% more powerful than Vader in his suite so that places him at 7. Vader claims he is the master now and Obi-Wan is old so I think that puts him slightly above Obi-Wan.

ESB:
Vader: 7
Luke: 2 during Hoth, 4-5 after Degobah

Notes: Even with Yoda's training Luke was completely overmatched by Vader so he's probably a 4 or 5.

ROTJ:
Palpatine: 9
Luke: 7 (but 8 tapping into the dark side a bit when defeating Vader)
Vader: 7

I won't do the ST because they aren't Lucas but Rey is like a 20 in TROS

Not Lucas, but I believe Nick Gillard did, but only to make a point in regards to the confrontation between Obi-Wan and Anakin. It's not meant to be taken literally.

 

Didn't he get those numbers from Lucas? I think Lucas was explaining to Gillard who was stronger than who and to choreograph the fight with that in mind.

Jedi/Sith/force power levels are tough to quantify in Legends and Canon due to plot and other factors. It reminds me of Stan Lee saying the person who wins in a fight is who the writer wants to win. But I'll bite.
If we scale by Nick Gillard's comments, it would probably be something like this.

I usually defer to your superior knowledge of the LucasVerse, but this seems a lot like power levels to me.

 

Not to me. There are no numbers or "levels" in that comment (even if there were, it would be just for context/perspective, like Nick Gillard did). It's just a statement of the power of those individuals, which is corroborated by what's stated and shown in the movies.

Mace and Yoda are the only owns who could (and did) compete with Sidious. As Yoda warned, someone like Obi-Wan would be no match for Sidious. He's not strong enough. And as Sidious acknowledged, Anakin had the potential to surpass himself. Fortunately, thanks to Obi-Wan that didn't come to pass.

 

I think your numbers are too high. I think Sidious is more than 0.5 more powerful than Dooku. Also Lucas said that Vader in his suite was 20% weaker than Sidious which would put him at an 8.

TPM Obi-Wan would whoop ESB Luke so I'd drop ESB Luke to a 4. Maybe a 5 at best but that's pushing it. I'd also drop Finn down to 0 or 1. There's not much proof that he can do anything with the force. Leia's powers aren't really shown on screen so who knows.

 

Power levels? Sounds just too much like a video game to me. Maybe Disney will introduce that system for future movies to make them easier to adapt to gaming. Rey finds a lightsaber: + 100 experience points; gets Force-lightning struck: - 50 health points; defeats a higher level opponent: level up; collects more than 10000 EP: can buy a ship around the value of an X-Wing; health points down to zero: one life less etc. All those points should of course be shown right at the bottom of the screen, and new characters should always have their level indicated, like "Darth Doom, Sith Lord level 1570". Yeah.... SW should definitely be more like gaming..... NOT.

 

Didn't you see TFA?

Anakin's lightsaber lost at Bespin is worth +10 mana, +10 force, and +10 attack power.

 

Kenobi must have saved all those skille and pints for Luke.

of course not. 1-6 CW is S1-S6 CW
At S1 in CW she was like 1-2 and Luke in ROTJ is like 5-6 (7-8 tapping dark side)
What do you think about Yoda in (ANH, ESB, ROTJ) i wasent sure and would you add someone?
