ST John Williams To Score Episode IX

I think it's a real possibility given Palpatine's return.

 

Has Williams ever reacted to a rough cut before and said very positive things?

I hope since this is John Williams's (supposed) last film, he goes all out on the score and incorporates every single instrument and music style for IX. Kazoos played alongside riveting piano music. Hip hop oboe music. Jazz flutes. Hidden recordings of Lord and Taylor screaming in rage about being fired.

 

With Plapy being in there, I'm looking forward to hearing a possible "darkside theme" or "Emperor's theme"...not sure what it's called-ya'll know the one.

IIRC, he did that for both TFA and TLJ.

I'm pretty sure he said that at least for TLJ. Or TFA....One of them I'm pretty sure.

 

It played in TLJ when Snoke tortures Rey.

I'm hoping that was on purpose due to some sort of connection between Snoke and Palpatine and not just because they had a temp track of the Emperor's theme there and Williams decided to just play along by recording it similarly.

 

He did for TFA but not for TLJ

Guess I didn't notice that...Then again, it has been about 8 months since I've seen TLJ, and I've only seen it like two or three times since it came out.

 

I expect themes for new characters like Zorii and Jannah

 

I can see that happening (especially after the side-character Rose got the primary theme of TLJ). Though I'm hoping that we get some all-encompassing themes or character relationship themes (love themes, sibling themes) to close out the Saga.

I would love to hear some notes from the Ewok songs when they're on Endor (assuming that's where the ds wreck is).

Have their been any updates about where JW is at with the writing / recording of the score? I'm assuming he'll have finished writing it, when do they normally do the recording?

 

Can’t wait for this score. Hoping he really brings the magic for his last one!!

 

If the score doesn't include a didgeridoo it will ruin the ST for me.

Anybody have any particular themes/songs that they would like to see revisited in TROS? I want JW to deliver a lot of new emotional/gripping stuff, but would not mind going back to some stuff used in the PT/OT.

 

My biggest wish is something NEW and iconic. I think we have to hear the Imperial March, Duel of Fates and the 'Force-theme' as well, but I haven't heard a new SW song that got me pumped since Duel of the Fates, and it's high time that changed!

 

Agree that the ST has been deeply lacking in having something ICONIC. The PT had Duel of Fates, Across the Stars, Battle of Hero's just to name a few, while the ST I really am not blown away by anything except maybe Jedi steps. Rey and Kylo have good themes, but I need them to step it up with TROS. The final battle scene needs to be ICONIC! This is the fate of the galaxy for goodness sake!

 

Boo, Rey's theme's up there with the best the man's ever done. That final TFA scene in the Falcon then climbing the mountain is goosebumps, man.

Boo, I say, boo.

 

I said the only thing that might have blown me away in the ST was Jedi Steps, so we agree its probably the highlight of the ST so far.
