John Wooden hospitalized in 'grave' condition UPDATE: passed away 6/4/10

Sad to see, especially if this is the end for him, but he's 99 years old, which is a great long life by anyone's standards, and it'll be a long, long time before anyone forgets about the impact he's had on basketball.

 

I heard about it this morning.

He's just legendary. If this is it, he certainly won't be forgotten after he's gone.

 

Not much to say other than what's been said: great icon, great long life, and not to unexpected to see him go. Although, from everything I've read, he was a better man and husband than he was a coach. And that's saying something.

 

That's saying quite a lot indeed.

 

SportsCenter just said that he was admitted May 26th for dehydration and is currently resting comfortably. That doesn't seem so serious, but then again, age can be a factor in anything. Sounds encouraging, though!

 

And the article that used the term "grave condition" has been changed to reflect that.

So hopefully, he'll recover from this

A few days late, but I was very sad to hear about that. Wooden was a great coach and a better person. RIP.
