ST Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca) in Episode IX - (Disc. of Original Chewbacca Actor Peter Mayhew's Death)

So what do you want from our wookie ally in this concluding movie? in The Last Jedi (and as I stated), I assumed I'd see more of him than I did, but I want this final movie to be his chance to shine.
I used the Ant without the Dec comparison to describe what its' like for him now.

Let's say he confronts Kylo Ren - his final obstacle in the courageous wookies' war is standing right there in front of him. He ignores the warning of C3PO who tells him "you haven't got a blade. If you try to take him on yourself, you're doomed.

Chewbacca goes on ahead and roars at Kylo who pleads "please, it was not my idea to kill Han. That evil tyrant made me - and that's why I killed him too!" but Chewbacca takes no notice and moves to tears his arms out of his sockets. Then, when he makes his final move (to strangle him), Kylo draws his lightsaber and stabs him. They die at the exact same moment, but the Wookie can die happy, knowing Han is finally avenged

 

Peter has retired from the role now.

 

Joonas Suotamo plays Chewbacca now.

 

OT characters are an endangered species now, I hope he survives to play the role another day.

I hope they change his wingman : him and Rey don't make a great pair. Besides she too often goes on her own, leaving no one to speak for our wookie. Chewie simply deserves better.

I think Finn would make an excellent partner, as it would play right into Boyega's strenghts. (and at this point, it would be a "promotion" for him too)

A case could be made for Rose too...

 

I thought Chewy looked better in this film - Specifically his eyes...they were a bit off in parts of TFA.

 

There would have to be a time skip of at least ten years for him to learn Wookiee and how to fly and fix the Falcon.

He doesn't even need to learn how to fly : Chewie is a great pilot already. And let's be serious, if a lowly scavenger of Jakku can learn wookie on her spare time, it shouldn't take that long for Finn to get at least the basics.

 

To be serious you're probably right. At least the floors and dunny will be sparkling.

 

Hygiene sure isn't Chewie strong suit, but no doubts he knows how to park properly, him.

Chewbacca has been hilarious in the ST. Let’s continue that.

 

He's going to get Majora's Mask'd again.

 

I wonder whether Chewie will finally get some recognition for his participation in destroying the first Death Star.

 

^I love this guy. They could not have found a better new Chewie. He deserves to play Chewie for the next 4 decades.

 

i want to see chewie reunited with some long lost family members....going back to live in the giant tree.

 

Agreed! Joonas is doing a fantastic job with Chewie and his enthusiasm and love for the character just makes me love him even more. I was excited to see him paired with BDW in the Falcon in the teaser trailer.

 

who knew you can create a full living character with just growls, a huggable walking carpet.

 

Yeah this is very sad... another member of the SW family has left us...

 

RIP Peter Mayhew.
