I noticed this book is a little longer, is it as fast a read as the other 2? I've really enjoyed the first 2 but was wondering.

Oh absolutely. I tore through all three at relatively the same pace.

I just finished it and really liked it. I felt it was perfect meld of the adventuring on Smuggler's Run with an in-depth look (to an extent) at a character or their outlook on something of Weapon of a Jedi (in this case war). I was very hesitant to pick up these YA novels since I really didn't know what to expect since they're tagged with a certain age bracket. The fact of the matter is that they can be read by a fan of any age and enjoyed. It does them a real disservice to do that to them. These books are also as good, if not better than some of the stuff in the Adult category and are a welcome addition to the Canon. I think the book really captured Leia and her team and really filled them out. A five star book!

Finished the book yesterday, my very first SW novel. Thoroughly enjoyed, Leia's (probably my fave character) characterization was spot on and the story moved at a fun, brisk pace. Moving on to Lost Stars, based on all the positive reviews. Bloodline after, I think, cuz Leia.

It's that central concept that makes it work so well for me: What was Leia's reaction to finding out about the second Death Star?

A second Death Star says so much about the irredeemability of the Empire but I don't think it had been presented in this way until this book.

These little things? Half an hour each at super most. I may bring a pile with me on public transport.

You'd think one Death Star would be a indicator of their irredemability

Well, look what got defrosted from carbonite.

Always fun to see this book come up -- I'm really proud of it as a Leia portrait. (And I think Shieldmaiden is one of the better, less obvious Star Destroyer names.) I got to say hi to Cecil at a Brooklyn reading of hers shortly before lockdown, which was a welcome reunion.
