Importance of Handlers – Jason spoke to how integral a part handlers are to trooping. Not only do they help with costuming, and keeping the troopers safe, its good insight for those considering costuming and trooping.

Barnes & Noble Shakespeare troop a success – was actually a LucasFilm event!



Beach Street Jul 20th actually had 17 folks in costume and 5 handlers, and was the most organized and smooth BeachStreet Ever – Great job everyone!!!!



Future TA Events

General Tips for HOT summer events – Take Shifts!! Take Breaks!! Drink Water!!

Ø Beach Street USA – Dates: July 13; Jul 20; Jul 27 (MAY BE CANCELLED IF COLLEGE WEEKEND – KEEP EYE ON THE EVENTS PAGE!!); Aug 10; Aug 24. Is from 7:30-9:30pm in front of yogurt shop. Ed is head security J PLEASE RSVP the TUESDAY (by 4p) prior to the date you are trooping to ensure we have enough staff to properly attend/secure us.

Ø Zoo Blood Drive – July 28; Costumed folk typically get in to zoo for free; you CAN donate in your armor, but with no helmets – Suited up by 9am, til 3:30pm – no limit of number of participants

Ø Fantasci – Aug 3: We have FOUR tables for display/TA, we will have a schedule for manning the table AT fantasci, come, bring your bragging stuff and sign up to man the table for a bit J

o Library needs help with breakdown at 4:30 – sign up will be on FB event. Please help out!!

o Blast a Trooper will be upstairs on the mezzanine. There may be a costume contest

o There are about 5 panels so far – Weapons of Sci Fi; a Star Trek presentation; Klingons and Sci Fi Makeup; Creating comics; 50 years of the Tardis

o Sign up on FB Event for what props/collectibles you are bringing

Ø Geeks Night of Comedy – Funny Bone; Aug 14, meet in Armada Hoffler Parking lot, top floor with a ceiling, South Deck. We will be out front of FB from 6-7:30 to take pics with fans. Rick has 4 free tickets for costumed TA members, first come first serve. Tickets for event are $15, well worth it! The free ticket spots are now spoken for, but we can still come out for the photo shoot and can pay to get into the show.

Ø Untamed Spirit Race – Virginia Aviation Museum Nov 23 - ??

Ø ROFCon –Feb 28-Mar 2 at Holiday Inn Executive

Ø Regal Star Wars Premier 2015 – MacARthur Mall – There may be an X-Wing!!!

Ø Rick is signing up for 2 parades – Neptune Parade (Mid/late Sept), and Town Center Christmas Parade

Ø Marscon – Jen to look into possibly having a TA table; Jan 17-19



TA Shirts – Will likely be around $25/ea – nice quality, THANKS HIROMI!!



TA Picnic – Will be in the Fall, when its cooler. May be at the Oct 13 meeting – can be Picnic/Halloween party at the Library



Dues – Don’t forget, $5 per family per year. Thank you!!

- Costuming: We have representatives of the top 3 groups (501st, Rebel legion, Mando Mercs) – they are willing to help out if you are interested in joining and creating an official costume J
