[Just For Fun] Fanfic Word Clouds

So I came across this site ( http://www.wordle.net ) that lets you create "word clouds" out of any text you put into it. It gives more weight to words that are used more often, and offers a visualization of what may be the most important aspects of your fic. It makes more sense when you see one. Here's one for 12 chapters worth of my current WIP, "Braken Starblaster Destroys The Galaxy!"


It also comes with some customization options. You can change the font and color palette, and influence the shape it takes. As a different-looking example, this is my short story "The Other Side".


So... what clouds do your fics make? And what observations can you make about the results? Try it out, and link your creations!

The Courtship of Jagged Fel

 

I did a couple of these. The first is of my fanfic archive website and the second is from a story I have mostly written that I haven't started to post just yet.

I used an old favorite of mine: Anakin?s Misadventures in Babysitting

 

I'm not sure if I should post the one I did for "The Shadow of Your Smile"... it looks um... like a TOS violation!

 

You can randomize it until it doesn't. Unless the problem is the content, in which case you've got a whole 'nother set of worries.


In doing more, I've been most surprised by how many times "like" apparently comes up in my fics. I didn't think I was a valley girl...

This is interesting to see all of these. I like trying to guess what each story is about from the clouds.

 

Oh, is THAT what randomize means? Oops! Well, here's the one I did for He's Not Heavy, He's My...?

 

I created one for an upcoming fic I'm writing entitled "The Smoothest Guy In The Universe":

Face ? you can tell you're doing a sequel, simply by noting how large the word "back" is in your cloud
Sithgirl ? I'm impressed that the words "Sith" & "Lord" and "Jedi" & "Way" are all both independent of each other, yet also right by their counterpart. How'd THAT happen?!

Luton ? I'm pretty sure you win, and we can all go home now.

In doing these for various stories, I find that I use the words "back", "like", "know", and "one" a lot. In, like, every single one I know.
